Rating: Summary: A Great Start to a Great Series Review: 'Summer Promise' is a great book. It is definitly one of my favorites, not just of the series, but of all Ms. Gunn's books. In this story, Christina Juliet Miller, better known as Christy, spends the summer with her Aunt and Uncle in Newport Beach, California. While her Uncle Bob is a nice, caring man; her Aunt Martha seems very fake and superficial. Aunt Marti gives Christy a makeover, completly changing her from the plain Wisconson girl she was. She buys her a new, mature wardrobe and a lot of make-up. Christy makes friends with a girl on the beach (Alissa); and has her first run-in with Todd. I'd say more, but I don't want to give the story away! Even though the story is a third person narrative, the author makes you feel like you're there with Christy. I love this book (I've read it twice), and reccomend this to any teen girl in the mood for a good Christian story.
Rating: Summary: Go, go Christy Miller!!! Review: 14-year-old Christy Miller from a small town in Wisconsin visits her Aunt Marti and Uncle Bob in sunny California. Aunt Marti takes one look at her and decides that Christy needs a new makeover, to be 'the real Christy Miller'. Aunt Marti spoils Christy by getting her a new hairstyle, new stylish clothes, make-up, and gives her tips on becoming good friends with the kids at the beach. The thing is, Christy is not sure who the real Christy is, the way she is, or the way her Aunt Marti is. Then she meets Todd, the perfect guy from her dreams. Todd is different and when she asks why, she finds out that it's because he's a Christian. But she's a Christian, too, and what does he mean when he keeps talking about 'accepting Jesus as his Savior'? As she ponders on this new look on Christianity, she deals with also an unexpected death of a friend and trying to get Todd to like her. But should she make him like her for what she is trying to be, perfect? Or maker him like her for who she is?A wonderful Christian book, definitely one of my favorite books. The characters and the situations are so beliavable and real so when I read the Christy Miller books, I think about how what she learns can be applied to my life too! I want to be like Christy, Todd, and their friends, a lover of Jesus, our Savior.

Rating: Summary: these are great books!!!!! Review: I have read all of the Christy Miller series and the Sierra Jensen series.I have also read Until Tomarrow and As You Wish, in the Christy and Todd series. They are the best books I have ever read. Robin is by far my favorite author. The way that she writes makes you feel like you are the one going through all these things and makes me want to read them over and over again. As I read the way that Christy goes through everyday life handling school, crushes, parents, friends, and GOD, made me start to look at how I handle them. I laughed and cried through this incredible series. I would definately recommend this book and all of Robin's books to everyone!
Rating: Summary: Realistic, heart capturing, and wonderful! Review: I have read almost every book that Robin Jones Gunn has ever written. Her writing is amazingly realistic and always enjoyable. This particular book was the first book I ever read by R.J.G. and it truly did capture my heart. After reading the series, the characters had become almost real to me. My only dissapointment came when I reached book #12 and realized the series had ended. I was excited to find out that details about Christy Miller and friends can be found in some of the "Sierra Jensen Series" books. I reccomend ALL books written by Robin Jones Gunn. She's never dissapointed me!

Rating: Summary: The seris gets better as you get into it! Review: I highly reccomend the Christy Miller Seris to any young adult. It is definately down to earth and as you read it you find yourself putting yourself in her shoes. This is the first book of the seris and starts out when Christy, who lives in small town Winsconsin, comes to visit her Aunt Marti in California. She is faced with decisions and begins to "grow up". As her Aunt Marti is changeing her on the outside, she finds more important change on the inside through a group of friends she meets on the beach. I highly recommend this seris to any young adult- and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!!
