Rating: Summary: The Forgotten Fire Review Review: The first novel by Adam Bagdasarian tells the gripping story of the Armenian Holocaust from the eyes of a boy. The compelling details and rich storyline challenges you to put the book down. Vahan Kenderian is living a life of privelage as the son of a wealthy Armenian man in Turkey. This secure world is shattered when some family members are whisked away while others are murdered before his eyes. Vahan is forced to live a life of unimaginable in order to survive. Somehow Vahan's incredible spirit and strength help him endure. This nonfiction book of sorrow and horrow pushes the limits of greatness. Altough this book was written to provide knowledge to the reader, the chilling suspense makes it entertaining to read. The heart-breaking details and matter-of-fact emotions has you fighting all the way for the Armenian survival. This is a novel of courage and spirit.

Rating: Summary: well written, gramatically perfect, but depressing. Review: this book is made by disasters. there are very few happy parts, and there is no way that they can cancel out the sad. I know very well that the setting wasn't happy, but it waas still depressing. would not reccomend it, as it is fiction. if it were non-fiction, it would rank a lot higher, but it isn't.
Rating: Summary: Heart-Wrenchig Tale Review: This book is the most wonderful, yet it is the saddest book I have ever read. It tells the tale of a very lucky Armenian boy living in Turkey during the Armenian Genocide. You have to read this book!!!
Rating: Summary: You'll Never Forget Review: This book was great! It tells of a twelve year old boys struggles in Turkey during the Armenian Holucast. This is the best story I have ever read. It is a true story and the book isn't at all what I thought it would be. I thought it would be a story that would show a brave boy thriumphing at the end with his head held high always. But you feel as if you are there with him on his journey to freedom. His feeling are realistic and his story is tragic, but through his many obstacles he learns about life. As for me I never knew that there was an Armenian culture. Mr. Bagdasarian brings back the forgotten for all of uss to remember. Now we all remember. This is a great bookk, and I recommend it to everyone.
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable. Review: This breathtaking novel written from the view point of an Armenian boy during the genocide of WWI picks you up, runs you ragged and then drops you with haunted eyes and a shiver to live in your concience forever. The atrocities committed during this almost forgotten episode of history are shown with intensity and clarity so strongly that you must occasionally force yourself to blink before beginning the next sentance. Unbelievable, unforgettable, and more important than any book I have ever read. To understand history you must read this book; if you have not, you have missed something vital. As a juvenile services librarian, I cannot recommend this book strongly enough. When a librarian says they could not put a books down, it is high compliment, realizing we read the best of the best, the cream of the crop, of children's and YA lit. I could not put this book down. Please read this book; it will make you more human.
Rating: Summary: Hard to believe this is a fictional tale based on Genocide Review: This is an excellent novel written by Bagdassarian. My understanding is that this is his first novel. The facts behind the story are ture, but the storyline is fiction. Unbelievable, story. Bagdassarian does an excellent job telling his story of a young boy surviving the Armenian Genocide. The story is riddled with facts about the horrible Turkish government and the persecution of the Armenians.
Rating: Summary: This is as TRUE of a story as found in history books Review: This is directed to the poor MISDIRECTED soul from Irvine Ca. who rated this book as "totally made-up by the author" and a book that "does no better than provoking terrorist groups like 'ASALA' to continue their terrorist attacks" IN FACT the intent is to point out the cruelty of man, no matter what his nationality or religion in hopes that he will know the personal tradgity of the individual to teach that this type of conduct is against all that is good in man. The story in fact IS factual! It is the story of my father who tought HIS children never to hate, as hate is the element that breeds cruelty. During his 75 years of life, I never heard one ill spoken word about Turks or Muslems. There is NO ill feelings in his family towards ANY peoples. I find it unfortunate that narrow minded opinions such as yours can't see the lessons of OUR MISTAKES and learn from that.
Rating: Summary: A Must Read for All Armenians Review: This is the best novel written thus far on the Armenian Massacre. It was a touching story especially becasue it was written through the eyes of a child. Give a copy of this book to a friend. The truth will spread!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: This was a very touching book about the Armenian Genocide. It is a story told through the eyes of a little boy; son of a wealthy prominent Armenian Lawyer that loses everything. It's a very easy to read book that was very fascinating to me (I couldn't put the book down); I was able to read cover to cover in about a week. The author does an excellent job of portraying the horrors of the Genocide, the cruelty of man, the courage of a young boy as he struggles to survive...this book should be made to a movie. I would not recommend this book to younger readers as there are strong references to rape, molestation and cruelty. However, I would strongly recommend and encourage reading this book to high school students.
