Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: This is a wonderful book, you can read it in one day. Once you start reading it you can't put it down. It is exciting all the way through. I havent' read a book in a long time but this book I just couldn't put it down. It has so many lessons to learn in it. Yes, it will make you cry. I read it alone, no one around so I could enjoy it better.
Rating: Summary: Another Love Story Review: Nicholas Sparks is ever so good at writing a love story that floods your mind and stirs your heart.I have read Sparks' The Notebook and Message in a Bottle and it is my opinion that A Walk to Remember falls short of The Notebook but is better than MIAB. The story is narrated from a first person's point of view, which is my favourite in novels. Landon tells us his story from 40 years ago, a year of his life which changed him forever. We are introduced to Jamie, a plain "good" girl whom everyone can identify with: conservative wear, no make-up, carries a Bible all the time. Landon, then 17, young, brash, eager to blend into the crowd. As "the Lord's plan" throws the two together, we smile and go "awwww" as we see them falling in sweet, innocent, wholesome love which we often wish for ourselves. Sparks is able to wrench our hearts and at the same time, preparing us at the back of our minds, for something that would pop the bubble. Along the lines of his other 2 novels, heartache was inevitable. Would you cry? Would you scorn at the predictability of the story? Do find out for yourself.
Rating: Summary: A Walk to Remember Review: When reading Nicholas Sparks book my expectations are of alight read with a deep love story. This book did not dissapoint. Iread it from cover to cover on a flight from Orlando to New York. Asad but beautiful story. Very likeable characters.
Rating: Summary: Oh Please, What Foolish Pablum Review: I didn't laugh, I didn't cry - I found it totally predictable. This is probably a great book for teenagers or young adults. Those who haven't read much or are just starting to forge adult relationships might find meaningful.
Rating: Summary: Everyone can relate in one way or another. Review: Nicholas Sparks dose wonders to pull you into a whole new world with vivid discriptions of the surroundings and characters emotions. It's a true tear jerker that pulls at every heart string even if you're not the emotional type. The end of the story keeps you thinking for days. Though you know the ending even before the story is through the last like makes you rethink everything you think you know and put down the book with a longing for more. It's truly the best book I've read in a long time.
Rating: Summary: A Sentimental Journey Review: Once again Sparks makes us look inside ourselves to find the strength and courage that is buried. He shows us that unconditional love is possible between two people, no matter how old they are. If you have ever loved someone read this book and learn how the love you have for that one person can change your entire outlook on life.
Rating: Summary: No stretch marks Review: I highly recommend this book to high school students and others who are neophytes in living and literature. Sparks doesn't use any big words, and he doesn't create any situations that show how complicated life can be. There are no moral complexities, no meaningful ambiguities that might confuse the novice who has not experienced the tensions that arise in human relationships. Nothing to threaten, nothing to evoke insight. Everything is satisfyingly predictable, and the end is visible from the beginning pages. There'll be no stretch marks after you finish "A Walk to Remember."
Rating: Summary: It's Been A Long Time Since A Book Has Made Me Cry Review: It's been a long time since a book has made me cry. I purchased this book at the Phoenix Airport and was finished by the time I landed in Detroit. I had to keep closing the book and fanning my eyes because it was so emotional. I didn't want the other passangers to see me crying. This is the first book I have read by Sparks but I plan to buy them all!
