Summary: A Walk to Remember is a book to remember
Review: I'm 16 years old, and my mom gave me this book to read once she had finished it. I read 3/4 of it in a day, only stopping because I had to. It is an incredible story of love and friendship and the trials of being a teenager. Landon Carter goes through disagreements with his father over student council to the embarrassment of taking his school's so-called "goody-goody" to a dance never even dreaming a wonderful friendship would develop and eventually blossom into a powerful love. This is definitely a story you'll want to read with a box of Kleenex near!

Summary: Great Story - Loved It!
Review: nicholas sparks was able to capture the feelings of true love in "a walk to remember". this book kept me entertained with its witty up-to-date humor (i.e.: reference to Jerry Springer). sparks was also able to masterfully create a poignant tragedy about a love between two people that seemed to end as soon as it started. "a walk to remember" was able to almost live up to its promise in its prologue, the book definitely made me laugh but almost made me cry (although tears welled up in my eyes). to sum it up, this book is an easy-to-read bittersweet story that makes you fall in love with its characters and leaves you touched and moved by its words.

Summary: Mandy Moore Stars as Jamie, due out in January
Review: YES!!!!! Mandy Moore, the beloved pop singer will play the part of Jamie in the major motion picture release of A WALK TO REMEMBER, due out in January. This movie will be a tear jerker!!! I read the book in one day. It was very easy to read and very touching, However, u can almost feel what is about to happen next, which is not really good, I want surprises. You will fall in love with Jamie, and Landon. You will be able to relate and learn from both characters. I dont want to spoil anyone's fun but I will say the ending was cute but a little too fake, "unreal". Read the book, its a treat. Then, when the movie comes out, go watch it!!

Summary: Good, but I have a few criticisms.
Review: It is a common occurrence for me to pick up a book in "New Books" at the library, read a chapter or two, and stop -- astonished by the fact that such awful stuff gets published. But Sparks' book held my attention and I finished it at one sitting. My assessment: Fair to good.

However, I have a few comments. First, it is definitely a "chick book" (my wife will love it). In fact, a cynical person might suggest that Sparks has simply discovered a formula to make female readers smile and cry on cue, and is cashing in on the formula big time.

Second, the writing style is confusing, if not downright bad. What I mean is that the story's narrator is 57 years old, recalling the events of his 17th year -- yet his speaking style is clearly that of the 17-year old, not the mature man. (Not that it's fair to compare this book with "To Kill a Mockingbird", but recall that the narrator of that story was a mature woman and spoke accordingly; she didn't relate her tale in the voice of young Scout).

Still, I give it 4 stars just because I enjoyed the story.

Summary: Another wonderful Nicholas Sparks story
Review: I've either read or listened to all of Nicholas Sparks' books, and there isn't a bad thing I can say about any of them. A Walk to Remember is well-written, well-rounded and a beautiful love story that isn't cheesy of cliche. The characters are deep and unique and Sparks manages to portray them wonderfully without boring the reader with details. This is one of the few books that had made me cry, but it was worth it.

Summary: Touching, moving , June 30,2001
Review: This book was so great! It was a bit slow at first and the storyline seemed a bit shallow, but as I learned later, it is far from. I loved how Sparks really brought Landon and Jamie to life through their deep emotions and great love for each other. Sparks'did a wonderful job of capturing the attitude changes of Landons friends and even of Landon. Jamie helped Landon to appreciate the importance of faith especially during a trying time. This book teaches an important lesson for everyone including its readers. This is definitely a must-read!

Summary: I Can't Believe How Much I Liked It
Review: First of all, A Walk to Remember isn't my usual type of read. I usually like to read classics. Plus, I'm a guy; so I like mysteries and adventures every so often. But, for some reason, the review of the book in Booklist magazine really interested me in the book, and I gave it a shot. I loved it. At first, I thought the writing seemed a bit juvenile to me, "if you know what i mean." I also thought that the characters seemed a bit unrealistic. But after about seventy pages (which doesn't take long), I was genuinely interested in the characters and what happenned to them. Also, unlike Landon, I was already in love with Jamie. As the book progressed, I found myself liking it even more until the satisfying, though sad, ending. A Walk to Remember may not be "great" literature. It probably won't be around in fifty years. But, man, is it a good read. Any true romantic (which I guess I am too) would love it.

Summary: Utter Drivel, but entertaining drivel
Review: First off, I want to say that I usually do not read books like this. However, I am trying to introduce my wife to the world of reading, and this is the book she wanted to read. She asked me to read it as well, so that we could discuss it afterwards.

I surely hope that Sparks was using this seventh grade writing style as a tool to convey the speech patterns of the narrator. Because, if this is truly his writing style, he is one sorry author. He uses the phrase "If you know what I mean" just about a million times. His prose literally rambles on like a middle school short story for a creative writing class.

However, in spite of the fact that this book is total slop, I liked it. I thought parts of were touching. Even if the plot was movie-of-the-week material. I can't help it. I must be just a big softy, because I got choked up several times.

The only downside to liking this book, for me, is that now my wife wants to read another Nicholas Sparks book. Oh well, the things we do for love.

Summary: Some minor set backs
Review: Okay, when I first started this book, it seemed like a bunch of nonsense, because what the main character did was just stupid. So at first I wanted to put it down and never pick it up again. But since I don't like to put a book down without finishing it I decided to read on.

As I said, it started off as nonsense, I mean the characters were not very interesting, the setting was somewhat strange at first.

After the first 100 pages of the book, you think "what is this all about?" But you have to keep reading.

When I finally got through half of the book, then it started getting interesting, and the characters were actually becoming believable.

The other thing that makes it lose a half star is that the ending didn't really move me as much as everyone said it would (but it was kind of sad).

The book moved very fast at the beginning. I had read the first 120 pages in a half hour before I noticed anything beginning to happen.

The story WAS moving though, and it WAS enjoyable. But this 240 page book didn't get interesting until there were 100 pages left. If you like romances then go on and get this book, if not then reconsider.
