Summary: Can I give 10 stars?!
Review: I can't say enough good stuff about this book. This is by far Nicholas's best novel, in my opinion. I read it in about two hours and sobbed nonstop for about the last 50 pages. I don't think I've cried so much in my life! This is an incredibly poignant, beautiful story about true love and how two seventeen-year-olds' lives, as well as their whole town, were changed forever. This is definietly one to read over and over again, but I wouldn't go near it without a full box of Kleenex! As a fifty-seven-year-old Landon Carter says in the prologue, "First you'll smile, and then you'll cry. Don't say you haven't been warned."

Summary: Sweet and simple
Review: I remember when I read The Notebook that I started crying and didn't even know it. No book has been like that since--except this one. It's quick, it's simple but that doesn't take away from the fact that Sparks has created the type of love story that we need right now. It's not about something tortured, no sex, no violence, no anger, just something that actually grew out of respect, and turned into the type of teenage love that we might remember and the type of adult love that we all hope for. Jamie Sullivan is the type of person we perhaps strive to be, and Landon Carter may be the type of person we really are--we have our flaws but recognize the beauty and goodness of those that are better than us and that make us want to be better people. Some may say that this book is too simple--but maybe it is us that has made things too complicated.

Summary: My Favorite Book
Review: This book is my favorite book of all time. It's heartwarming, sweet, and of course, very emotional. Most people who see the trailer for the movie will be like, ewww, it Mandy Moore or that looks really good! Well either way read this book! It will make you smile and cry and make you want to change your life. If your totally into love stories, don't pass this by! And, if your not into love stories, still read it! I am going to see the movie the day it comes out. The only thing I wish now is that I was more like Jamie and that somebody will love me as much as Landon did for Jamie. READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!

Summary: get it out of the way turned to favorite ever
Review: i went on a vacation and my english teacher forgot to tell me that i was supposed to read a book over the winter break which i would be part of the time i was on vacation. when i got back, she told me i had two days to read a book and do a book report. of course i was looking for any book that i could get over with quickly and wouldn't fall asleep reading. i spent the weekend i had to read the book cleaning my room, which involved moving my bookcase to my closet. on the way, like 10 books fell off including the readers digest 1999 collection of 4 best selling books in one, including A Walk To Remember. since the movie is coming out in a week and a half, and i was interested in seeing it, i thought it might be interesting to read it. so i thought "hmm, i'll read 10 pages an hour and i'll get it over with soon." that didn't work for me. after the first 20 pages, i became enthralled in the plot. it is such a sweet and thoughtful story. if you wish to know what this book is about, here is a basic summary of my book report:

For a good laugh and cry, read:
A WALK TO REMEMBER
By Nicholas Sparks

In the year 1958, Landon Carter's life changed forever. Landon lived in the southern town of Beaufort, North Carolina, and was a senior in high school. Jamie Sullivan was the daughter of the minister of Landon's church, and the nicest do-gooder the town had ever seen. A Plain Jane, Jamie was very religious, and always carried the Bible with her, and kids made fun of her a lot. They get to know each other when Landon finds himself asking Jamie to the homecoming dance, for the sole reason of him not having a date. After that, through the school play in which each have the lead roles opposite each other, Landon finds himself in love with Jamie. Jamie tells him that he is not allowed to fall in love with her, but he cannot help himself. From there, they become more serious, when Jamie reveals a secret that breaks Landon's and the whole town's hearts. Will Landon still love Jamie? To what extreme will he go to in order to prove it? Find out in this excellent, sweet and thoughtful book, to be remembered all your life.
"Marvelous!" (u'd understand why i wrote "marvelous" if you read the book!!)

Summary: Nicholas Sparks dazzels us once again!
Review: After reading Spark's "The Notebook" and "Message in a Bottle" I didn't think his books could get much better than that. But when I saw an ad for the movie "A walk to remember" (starring Shane West and Mandy Moore) advertised as being based on a book by Nicholas Sparks I immediatly managed to find a copy even though it had been sold out at all bookstores in my hometown for weeks.

I picked it up and managed to read it in a record of 4 hours on and off. I loved the way Sparks developed his characters so they were like the average seventeen year old. Being sixteen it made it really easy for me to relate to the feelings felt by the protaganist, Landon.

This book is the perfect gift for any teenager looking for a good read but make sure to curl up by the fire on one of those wintery night and don't forget the tissues!

Summary: A really quick read.
Review: This was a sweet story. Anyone who is moderately spiritual will be inspired by Spark's character of Jamie. I'm interested to see how they portray her in the upcoming Mandy Moore movie.

Summary: the best book ever
Review: this book is really good... Sparks does a great job of writing his books... I wish he had more books about teens since I am one. It was really sad but it was really well written and this is a must read

Summary: Wonderful but Heartrending Story
Review: I was originally not planning to read this story, even though the upcoming movie with Mandy Moore looked kind of cute. However, my little sister sent this to me, stating if I read it before I visited her, then we could see the movie. Well, I reluctantly picked up the book, and could not put it down.

Landon Carter is not the best young man in his community, but he's not the worst. He comes from a well-established and wealthy family in Beaufort, NC: his grandfather ruthlessly bought up most of the area through at times underhanded tactics, and his father is the local Congressman who spends most of his time in Washington, DC. Not the most popular, he definitely had his own group of friends, and they weren't always kind to others outside the group. Things were going okay, as he skated through school, not really thinking about life or his future.

Then he runs into Jamie, a girl he's known forever, but never really known at all. They couldn't be more different. She's caring, friendly, plain, and the daughter of the town's Baptist preacher. Landon asks Jamie as a last resort to go to the Homecoming dance with him, and he can't seem to avoid her after that. And slowly, he comes to realize he doesn't want to avoid her.

This book is a very quick read; if I had the time, I would have read it in just a couple hours or less. And yes, it is very simple in its story line. But that doesn't matter. Because the story is beautiful and powerful. I shamelessly cried at the end, and will chastise my sister for not warning me. <grin> Despite its very bittersweet ending, however, the story is one of true hope, love, and happiness. I don't care how impossible or ridiculous it may seem - the story is wonderful, and can really offer a lot to those who read it with an open heart.

I hate to cry, as do most of my family. But I'm going to recommend this story to all of them. And I'm doing the same to you. Take a chance; it's worth it.

Summary: Decent Audio Book
Review: Having intensely disliked the author's former novel, "Message in a Bottle," I was very surprised to find out how much I enjoyed this book on tape. I actually listened to the full version, not the unabridged, from RecordedBooks (that is not read by the author) so I can't comment on Nicholas Sparks' own recording. However, the version I did listen to was entertaining, sweet and sad. The main character of Landon Carter is a bit naive but this is set in the 1950's, not today. Teenagers were nicer and more trusting 40 years ago. The main character of Jamie Sullivan is a cross between Joan of Arc and Melanie Wilkes and manages to get exactly what she wants without ever being demanding. She is a very "good" person as the author tells us over and over again. Landon is actually the more interesting of the two people because he does go through somewhat of a life change and matures by the end of the book.

The audio is not long - about 5 tapes - and worth listening to if you get a chance.

Summary: You won't put this book down!
Review: I started reading this book late one night after watching ER, and finished in the next day during school. I was practically reading while I walked through the halls. I loved it so much. I am such a sucker for a good love story, and this one was definitely a good love story. The main characters were so sweet and perfect for eachother, and the transormation of Landon was the best. If you are a girl and you are planning on reading this get a box of Kleenex out. I cried during the last 20 or 30 pages. It was so touching, I want to read it again. I am also seeing the movie the first weekend it comes out. READ THIS BOOK!!!
