Rating: Summary: The best novel I've read Review: This book is by far the most interesting book of all. It tells the tale of then 57-year-old Landon Carter in 1999. In the prologue, he revives the memory of being 17, the most meaningful year of his life. It was this year when he met Jamie Sullivan, the quiet, goody-two-shoes and always wearing her hair in a bun. She was the daughter of a Southern Baptist Minister who was constantly teased by Landon and his friends, the cool kids in school who eat boiled peanuts in graveyards. Hegbert Sullivan also wrote plays. Landon joined the Drama Club in school instead of Chemistry for ease and pleasure, not by reciting lines but sleeping. When Jamie was needless to say, made the angel, she was to stand in front of the class and Landon found a slightly more attractive her than usual. He didn't give much thought about it, until he was forced to ask Jamie to accompany him for the homecoming dance. That was better than cleaning up puke, right? After the dance, Jamie asked Landon to do her a favor by playing Tom, the lead role of the play besides the angel. He excepted it, touched by Jamie's emotions. Thus came the session to walk her home. His love for Jamie developed when her role of the angel came out, when she let her honey-blonde hair down, wore a beautiful dress and a touch of make-up, making the sight of her arresting. After the play, he wished that, for the first time, he could walk her home. Thus came the unusual and unexpected relationship they had. He first started bringing her to his house and then to classy diners. But Sparks say that every good thing comes to an end. Jamie had a secret kept long in her heart, and when she finally told Landon about a battle she had been fighting, all emotions came in. How the relationship Landon and his father built up, how Jamie changed everybody's life in her town, and how Landon's love can bring great joy to Jamie while she fights on.This book is very educational, with a lot of Christian beliefs and good deeds. It also has a touch of humor and very very sad parts which will leave most of you tearing. I recommend this book to everybody who wants a good book to read and is capable of curling in his or her room (I'm sure you wouldn't want others to see you cry over a book). This book was recommended to me by other Mandy Moore fans who've read it (after we knew that Mandy would be acting the lead role with Shane). I've never regretted buying and I still enjoy it,
Rating: Summary: A Walk to Remember Review: Landon Carter was an ordinary teenager who was looking for a relationship. Jamie Sullivan was kind, cheerful, shy, and the daughter of a priest. She was more of a giving to community type of girl while Landon didn't care about any of that yet somehow, they fall in love. He would walk her home from school everyday. One day, Jamie finally confesses to Landon that she has Leukemia and that she was dying soon. Week after week, she started getting weaker and weaker until she was in a wheelchair. By then, she was very pale and was all bones. Landon knew that she was going to die soon but he loved her so much that he married her. Even though Jamie was still very weak, she still walked down the aisle. I really liked this book because it was very touching, romantic, and sweet. It kind of teaches you to not judge a person until you get know them. This was a story of true love. Landon didn't care of what his friends thought, he just wanted to stay with Jaime forever. My favorite part of this book was when Jaime walked down the aisle. She was very weak. She had to sit in a wheelchair because she couldn't hold herself up, but she still walked down the aisle. Even though she stumbled a lot and it took a long time, she still made it all the way.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful and Deep Review: This book is a very sad, but also full of joy. It contains something that can never be able to express without even crying. This book written by Nicholas SParks is about a boy named Landon that is a senior in High School but does not know what he wants to do in the future. He does not have a care in the world for anyone, but his friends and family. During the beginning of the new year of his senior year, he notices the nice and plain Jamie Sullivan. ... I really enjoyed this book because I believe that it is not only a love story but it shows a lesson in life also. In these written pages the lesson is that there is always something more deeper and more beautiful than the outside of a human, and I believe that Landon learned this when he met Jamie
Rating: Summary: AMAZING Review: I've read this book 5+ times and I've seen the movie 4 times.. and yes, I cried every single time (both in the book and movie).. there's not enough words to explain how magnificent they are...SO amazing!!
Rating: Summary: Powerful... Review: Very Very different from the movie. A real page turner, and every emotional. It makes you want to think twice about judging someone before you know them. I'm NOT going to tell you the ending...I suggest that everyone pick this book up!
Rating: Summary: not the most original plot but good nonetheless Review: I bought this book mainly because I wanted to read it first before I went to watch the movie (and also because I am a sap, heh). The plot was nothing great, you could kinda predict what was going to happen next. However, Nicholas Sparks has a real cool way with words - very sweet and at times, very humorous. It made me laugh aloud a few times. He painted this really quaint and beautiful small town in my head and its characters, etc. Though you could predict the ending, it will still make you cry because it's a simple and old-fashioned story of first love, its ups, its downs, its pain .. go read it.
Rating: Summary: A Walk to Remember Review: A Walk to Remember is written by a famous author, Nicholas Sparks, who has written many books in the past. Before I read this book, it was out on movie, but I preferred to read first and watch the movie. This book was poignant, and I wouldn't forget it soon. I enjoyed so much reading this beautiful love story. It is one of my favorite books. Almost all of my friends read this story and suggested for me to reading it. While reading this book, it was hard for me to let go of it. Story was fascinating and good as Harry Potter. Landon Carter went to Beaufort High, and once been in love. He never thought he would fall in love with Jamie Sullivan, a daughter of Baptist minister. She was a kind of a girl who would prefer walking than a ride, spend spare time with orphans, and carry and read an old bible during lunch than hang out with friends. She wore a same sweater everyday, and always had an old bible with her. She didn't have much friends at school, but many ladies knew Jamie and how benign she was. Landon was voted as a student body president. And had to join a drama club. Jamie and Landon met many times during drama club, but they didn't talk. There was a Homecoming dance coming in Beaufort High, and as a president of the school, Landon didn't want to mortify himself, so he took out a yearbook to see who was available for him to go with to the dance. Not too many were available except Jamie Sullivan. Landon looked at her closely and closed the book. He thought for a moment.'Jamie can't be that bad.' So he got up and went to ask her to the dance. "Jamie, would you go to the Homecoming dance with me?" "Landon, what a surprise! Sure, I would go with you. On one condition, promise me that you won't fall in love with me." Landon almost laughed at the promise and gave her his word. The night of the dance didn't go as well as he had planned. It was not that Jamie was bad, but she was a bit tedious compared to others. From next day, Landon walked Jamie to her home as she wished. Landon tried avoiding meeting and talking with Jamie since the dance was over, but Jamie kept following and made Landon talk. After some time, Landon liked talking with Jamie, and started doing things with Jamie. They went to dinners, visited orphans, and walked home together all the time. On Christmas eve, Landon collected jars for Helping Orphans as Jamie wanted. He counted the money inside, but was shocked at how little there was. He thought Jamie would be disappointed, so he took out his $400 and added to what was there and took it to Jamie. Jamie counted and there was about $470. Jamie was so happy, she almost had tears in her eyes. After Jamie picked toys as gifts for Orphans, Landon and Jamie went to the orphanage together. Landon gave Jamie a present, a new gray sweater, and Jamie gave Landon a present, an old bible that she used to carry. She explained to him that it was her mom's bible. Before she died, she gave it to Jamie, and Jamie kept it until now, but Landon was as special as her mom to her now, so she wanted to give it away. Landon was surprised, but received her gift. One day, Landon confessed to Jamie that he love her, and he fell in love with her during all the things they did together. She started crying and Landon was confused of why she was crying. Then she said she loves him too. ... As usual, they walked after school together talking, and it was a walk to remember. ...
Rating: Summary: Love Can Make You Cry Review: I read this book because after I saw the movie, it touched my heart. I wanted to see if it was this good in the book so I borrowed it from my friend Faith. Also, the cover seemed so romantic and peaceful. When I read the back, it seemed so sad and romantic that I just had to read it. Plus, many of my friends recommended this book to me. I'm glad they did. The main character is Landon, a troublesome boy. He doesn't really care about school or his future. At first, I got mad at the way he treated Jamie Sullivan. However, after seeing his love for her in the end, I completely changed my view about him. He is so sweet and loyal to her. If I had a boyfriend, I would want a guy like him. I fell in love with this book as soon as I read it. It is so sad and romantic. I cried when I read the end. It gives me hope to think of such a love. This book was so sweet and touching. I could read it over and over and never get tired of it.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely the best......... Review: This book is so well written...I couldn't believe the connection that was made between Jamie and Landon..it is the ultimate love story.....I believe that tissues should be shipped along with the purchase of this book...
Rating: Summary: A book everyone should read--truly Review: I read this book with no expectations--I had seen the previews for the movie, and I always have to read the book before seeing the movie, so I bought the book. Once I got into it though, I couldn't put it down. The writing is simple, but the messages it conveys stay with you long after you put the book down. Landon, the narrator, has a character that i would hope every guy has a little bit of inside. We can admire him, but we can also relate to him. And everyone has seen a Jamie, the innocent, supereligious girl who must have a really personality hidden deep inside. I would recommend A Walk to Remember to anyone looking for a book to help them appreciate the real value of life.
