Rating: Summary: Glad I decided to try Sparks one more time Review: When I read "The Notebook" some five odd years ago, I really didn't care for Spark's brand of writing. It seemed so cliched and Harlequin romance. I really thought I'd never like his work. I was given this book by my mother to read, and I loved it! It starts off great. It is being narrated by the main character, Landon, at ages 57 and 17. Landon is a very likable character. I immediately felt drawn to him, and I wanted to learn more about who he was. Sparks did a great job of allowing us to get to know his characters. I grew to love both Landon, and Jamie, who is the female character in the story. They are in high school, and are both going through a lot in their senior year. They share a lot of good and bad times together, and eventually fall in love. It's a bittersweet story, and worth reading right to the last page. This is a very quick, easy to read book, but it also tragically sad. It is a beautiful story, and it was beautifully written by Nicholas Sparks. It is not just a romantic story, but it is a coming of age story as well. I think it would appeal to a lot of people as just a good story, even if it is very sad. It is worth the tears.
Rating: Summary: A Walk To Remember Review: I saw the movie with my girlfriend not knowing what it was about. I thought it was good and she gave me the book to read. Im not the biggest fan of readign but i thought the book was really good. Very touching story. Nicholas Sparks really knows how to write love stories that even guys can be interested in reading.
Rating: Summary: The best book Review: I just read this book today and it is one of the best books I ever read in my whole life. It is so sad yet so sweet that you just have to love it. I thought I was going to hate it because I can't stand books that depress me, but I ended up loving it because in the end it is soooo sweet and made me feel good.
Rating: Summary: Heart Warming Review: Have you ever read a book that made you want to fall in love? With a Walk To Remember, maybe you just might. This book is very heart warming and makes you believe in faith. I thought it was going to be a corny book, but I was so wrong. It makes you believe that true love really does exist. When Landon says, "I would have married Jamie Sullivan even if my miracle had come true.", it makes you wish that his miracle would have happened. I recommend this book anyone and everyone.
Rating: Summary: MARVELOUS!!! Review: This is the first book I have read from Nicholas Sparks and I plan on reading his others. I am so glad I picked it up. The characters were well developed and there was enough humor and tear jerking moments to make you want to read it again. I fell in love with the characters. I hope that the movie is just as good. In the words of Miss Garber...A Walk To Remember is "MARVELOUS!" :)
Rating: Summary: a walk to remember Review: this is one of the best books i have ever read. i believe that it is one of the best books i have ever read because jaimie and landons relationship taught me that love can come and go but it is something that you never forget and that you carry with you for the rest of your life.
Rating: Summary: not particularly impressed Review: I read A Walk to Remember at the frantic insistence of my best friend who, after reading it in one sitting, proclaimed it the best book she'd ever read. I, however, have yet to conclude why everyone is so in love with this book. Yes, it's a very sweet (though sometimes very cheesy) love story, but it was so predictable that it was almost dull. Sparks's foreshadowing leaves absolutely no room for surprises. If you're a diehard fan of love stories, you'll probably like it...otherwise, I'd pass.
Rating: Summary: Wonderfully Written Sad in an Uplifting Way... Review: I read this book after I saw the movie. It was excellent and finely written. It brought out more emotions and pulled many more heartstings than the move. This book is a definite page turner. Once you start you cannot stop! If you are going to read a book let this be the one!
Rating: Summary: A Walk To Remember Review: I chose to read this book because the movie was out and it caught my attention. The comerical was interesting and I became wildly curious. The last time that I saw a commercial and made me want to read the book very much was never. I couldn't wait until the next delivery at Borders arrived so I could get the book. To me, it was a must have kind of book, and I wouldn't let anyone stop me from gettin the book. I was determined to buy the book and read it for myself. The main charcter of this book is Landon Carter, in fact, the book is in his point of view. Landon is a troublemaker whom parents don't want their children to hang around. One day, a play forces him get closer to Jamie Sullivan, the social outcast of the school. Soon, Landon falls in love with Jamie, the problem is that Jamie is a God freak and thats what makes her an outcast, and he doesn't want to ruin his reputation. One day, Jamie finally confronted him. Jamie was diagnosed with lukemia in the summer and only had couple months to live. Landon askes Jamie to marry him and couple weeks later, they were married. To him, Jamie was a miracle that God had brought to him. I like this book because when I finished reading it, I thought that the book was so sweet. Everything that Landon and Jamie had gone through seemed like an everlasting list of mean cruel things that Landon had done to Jamie. In the end, Landon found the answer that he was searching for. Jamie didn't live the best life in the world, but she was always happy with what she had. To me, the book had a moral and was so sad, but they overcame their obstacles in.
Rating: Summary: one word: wow............................. Review: its wierd, you always hear people say "a book for all ages" but its rare to actually stumble upon such a book that can respectfully be called as such. But I found myself describing this "love story" just that. You smile, laugh, and cry all in one when reading this book. In truth whether you are 8 or 28 or even 58, you find something to connect to. And I am not writing this review because I saw the movie but because this book is genuine. not often can you find a book that feels genuine. so fairy-tale like , but so realistic at the same time, so heratbreaking but so refreshing.....one last bit of advice: trust me on this one, you won't regret it
