Rating: Summary: A Love Story You'll Never Forget Review: In 1958, Landon Carter was seventeen and a high school senior. He was always out looking for a good time. But something happens that changes his life forever. He agrees to be in a play and the lead female part is the being played by Jamie Sullivan. Jamie is the minister's shy, quiet daughter. Falling in love with Jamie was the last thing that Landon thought would happen. The lessons he learns from Jamie are more important than anything else he will ever learn in his life.
Rating: Summary: Don't Ask Me Why ... Review: What made me, a young man of twenty four, buy this book is a tale in itself. I would narrate it to you. But I am not Nicholas Sparks. Bracing myself for a romantic adolescent melodrama, I decided to read the book as quickly as possible to get it over with. Nary a chapter later, I was hooked. When I reached the latter half of the book, I found the going tough. It wasn't the language or the content that was slowing me down. Teary eyes had blurred my sight, and I found myself reaching for the box of Kleenex at the end of every line. The time was an hour past midnight. The book was read; my eyes were red. As I lay there in bed, trying to force myself to sleep, my mind kept conjuring up images from the book. Each brought a swell of tears to my eyes. I was sad, but I was happy to be sad. "A Walk to Remember" is a voyage of discovery for two teenagers through the uncharted waters of first love. Even in an age where love and lust are synonymous, this tale made me long for love that's chaste. I wanted to be seventeen again, freed from the shackles of adulthood, and my innocence restored. I wanted to fall in love again.
Rating: Summary: Not just any mushy teen romance Review: When I wasn't doing much over the summer, I'd take time to read this book. When I got to the end of it, I cried. Landon Carter was heading to a dead end. One day, he met Jamie Sullivan; a girl so full of sweetness and charisma. All the other kids at school made a spectacle of her b/c she sat by herself at lunch reading the bible. Unlike his friends, Landon took the chance to see her for what she really was. Soon enough, they both fell for eachother. Their love defied gravity. This is definitley a novel to remember.
Rating: Summary: A Walk to Remember Review: The story, "A Walk to Remember," is about two young adults, who are brought together and fall in love. I think that this book is very good, and the audience this book applies to is varied. Anyone can enjoy this book, and get something out of it, or relate to it in some way. It shows people how a first love feels, and how love can change anyone. The theme of this story I think is to live every day as if it were your last, and never pass up the chance to tell someone you love him/her. The plot in this story is very traditional love story. Two people fall and love, spend every waking minute with each other, and realize that they are meant to be together, but the difference in this story is that in the end it is impossible for them to be together. Landon Carter falls in love with Jamie Sullivan, unexpectedly, and realizes that she is the one. He is heart broken to find that Jamie is terminally ill. I think this whole problem makes there last few months together more valuable. This book definitely stirred my emotions, it made me really think. It made me realize that there is someone out there for everyone. And when you find the person you love, you will do anything to make them happy. I recommend this book to anyone who's in for a little crying, laughing, and smiling. It is a quick book to read, but every bit of it is enjoyable.
Rating: Summary: read this book Review: wow! what a great book. i read this book in two i just could not put it down. a must read for anyone.
Rating: Summary: Needs More Detail Review: "A Walk to Remember" was an ok book. The story plot was good but i think it could have been more discriptive. The story was nice and i would recomend it if you like romantic books and you have a good imagination. Nicholas Sparks is a good writer but i think if this book had given more detail that the book would be much better. But over all the book was good.
Rating: Summary: Another 5*'s for A Walk to Remember Review: Landon Carter is a most ordinary teenage boy concerned with girls, his own future, his own image, girls, etc. Jamie Sullivan is a minister's daughter without a mother to guide her through the challenges of her teenage years. She dresses funny and is not one of the mainstream kids. Jamie and Landon are an unlikely pair, but they are friends who grow to love and support one another in an extremely sensivite and well written love story. A Walk to Remember promised to make me laugh and to cry. I did both. If you have not read it, it's a wonderful story.
Rating: Summary: You can't put this book down! Review: What a wonderful story! I was interested in reading this after I viewed the movie. The book was a great improvement over a good movie. Mr. Sparks is a great storyteller and can make you think about "God's plan".
Rating: Summary: A walk To Remember Review: "A Walk To Remember" is a wonderful story of how love has the power to change. It all begins when Landon Carter, the son of a wealthy congressman, runs for the position of class president. Of course due to his popularity he wins. The homecoming dance is the next weekend and all the representatives are supposed to go but Landon is unable to get a date at the last minute. The only option left is church-going Jamie Sullivan the daughter of the towns reverend. She has an unbelievable amount of faith and is always reading her bible she carries around. Reluctantly he asked her and she happily accepted but said "only if you promise not to fall in love with me". At the time Landon didn't think that would be a problem. While at the dance Landons ex-girlfriend Angela came drunk and Jamie found her in the bathroom throwing up all over. Jamie told Landon and they both helped clean it up and then took her home. Landon was thankful to Jamie and realized that most dates wouldn't have helped so he told her he owed her one. In return a couple of months later Jamie asked Landon to take the lead role in the Christmas play. Although he didn't want to he couldn't say no to her overwhelming kindness and because he remembered his promise. This play was very important to her because her father wrote it. He always wrote the Christmas play but this one was different. It was about how his wife,Jamies mother, died during child birth and how he was left to raise her all by himself. In the play her mother turns into an angel which will be played by Jamie herself. So she wants to make it extra special. The night of the play when Jamie came out Landon was stunned by her beauty. This was the moment there love began to flourish. It was like nothing could go wrong. Then she told him "I told you not to fall in love with me" and revealed to Landon that she had a serious illness and didn't have more than a year left to live. This was heartbreaking but only made their love stronger and their time left together more valuable. If you would like to know how this story ends read the romantic love story "A Walk To Remember".
