Rating: Summary: Way better than the movie Review: If you liked the movie than you will love the book. The book is so much better, and the movie does not do it justice.
Rating: Summary: A book to remember! Review: A walk to remember is certainly a book to remember! This is one of the most moving stories I've ever read. Full of life, love and passion, written with pride and humor. I just wished the book would be a bit more elaborate. It seems a bit condensed. It could have benefited from another 100 pages. I also watched the movie, "A Walk To Remember," it is great in its own way. Some parts the book is better while some parts the movie version looks better. On a whole though, I think the book version is more attractive. This is a story that clearly distinguishes between infatuation-lust and true love. It will change your way of seeing things in the real world. It will instill more passion and compassion in your heart.
Rating: Summary: Sad book, 16 year old male reviewer Review: Hi, when I bought the DVD of the movie last summer, I saved it to watch after I read the book first. Being a near 16 year old male, my friends thought it was a little strange for me to be reading the book A Walk to Remember. I bought the book in the winter and I just read it yesterday. I have read the first few pages over and over again before but could never really start it until yesterday. It only took me a day to read the whole book. It was the saddest book I have ever read. Jamie did not deserve it. Of all the people, I was pretty griefed about what had happened to Jamie. As i was nearing the end, page 160 of 240, I saw hints of foreshadowing that hinted that something was wrong with Jamie. At this point, I immediately called my friend, who has a younger sister, 14 years old, who owns the book and movie. I called him and asked him if he knew if they would end up together or something bad was going to happen. He told me they got married or soemthing, but that he only saw a few minutes near the end of the movie. I wanted to ask his sister but she was already alseep; it was around midnight of a thursday schoolnight but our school had already ended the day before for summer. Thinking that he was probably right, I read on and was extremely shocked when I found out she was so sick. The last hours of my reading, like the last 60 pages were extremely sad. During that time, tears flowed just about continuously. Man, what a sad book. I do not usually read books like these but I wanted a nice love story. This morning I watched the movie, the ending had a few tears but it was not as sad as the actual book. This is a good book, I can not believe it happened to Jamie. I kept on hoping there would be a miracle to save her. This book made me want to meet a girl like Jamie and treat her well.
Rating: Summary: A Walk to Remember Review: A Walk to Remember is a great book about a high school girl named Jamie. Jamie spends her time helping the poor and working with the orphanage. She is always doing things for others, and rarely thinking about herself. Landon is a typical high school boy who is always in trouble. He is one of the popular boys, and doesn't like Jamie until he really gets to know her. They were in the church Christmas play together, and ended up being very close. Jamie's father, Hegbert, doesn't like Landon, but he still allows them to see each other. Landon and Jamie spend a lot of time together, but soon Landon finds out that Jamie has cancer. It was very hard for him, but they worked through it together. Jamie and Landon's story is very heartwarming. I loved everything about it. I would recommend this book to anyone because it is so great!
Rating: Summary: A Walk to Remember Review: A Walk to Remember, by Nicholas Sparks, has a great amount of love and passion that is shown through the author. Nicholas Sparks has a breathtaking way of showing his audience these characteristics. He brings them through so clearly through his imagery, but most through the plot and his characters. There is also a sort of spiritual meaning that makes the novel as a whole have an "at ease" sense. The author chooses two completely different characters and brings them together in an blissful and heartwarming way. Jamie Sullivan, a girl that is deathly ill with leukemia, brings to the reader a magnificent intellect through her spiritual beliefs, but also just her personality. Her personality itself is one of a kind. Her generosity, care, and love, even for people that don?t respect her, brings forth the love that is returned to her at the end of the novel. The remarkable traits of Jamie is what Landon Carter falls in love with, even before he recognizes it for himself. Landon brings a bittersweet touch at first. He is from a rich background and is concerned only about himself. All this is soon to be changed when he is faced with the most tragic fixation a seventeen year old should ever have to bear. The everlasting love of a once, conceited show off, is conveyed significantly by Sparks when it is given to the ethereal daughter of a minister. The symbolism of the author is expressed spiritually through Jamie, which illustrates the what the world should be. Sparks uses Landon to show what that world really is on the outside. By putting these two together, he applies imagery in what people today have an ability for in the inside, and we all need to express our compassion to make the world a better place.
Rating: Summary: Unoriginal ... Review: This is quite literally the worst book I have ever read. I really did try to like it, but it is just one cliche after another. The ending was so expected, I might as well have just read the book jacket. Only to be read as a near substitute for soap operas.
Rating: Summary: the one time the movie was better than the book.. Review: it was alrite but it got very boring as you got into it. it was too schmalzy and too focused on her sickness and the depressingness of the book.. towards the end all they do is read the bible together.. it gets just sooo stupid. the movie, however, was sweet. it moves faster and is just a nicer version of the story much less focused on religion and does not attempt constantly to make you cry to the point you want to rip it up..
Rating: Summary: A beautiful story Review: I must admit, I usually hate loves stoies and romance novels. But A walk to remember is one of my favorite books. It's one of the most beautiful stories I have ever read. It had me laughing and crying the whole way through. You will instantly fall in love with Jamie Sullivan's charitor. I was so excited when it was made into a movie. I even went to see it with a friend the day after it was released. I was very disapointed, to say the leaste. A wonderful book was turned into a shallow teen movie. So much is changed that it barley seemd like it was still A walk to remember i was watching. So my advice: Read the book. Skip the movie
Rating: Summary: I Loved Your Book "A Walk to Remeber" Review: This was the first book I read by Nicholas Sparks. I liked how he made two very different teenagers fall in love. I think every teen should read this book because they can relate to the events that take place, while learning lessons about life. From reading this book I learned that you shouldn't judge someone by how they look, but by how they treat you and others. I also learned that I should give everyone a chance to be who they are and see the real them and to listen to my heart, not other people around me, because your heart never lies.
Rating: Summary: A Walk to Remember Review: A Walk to Remember A Walk to Remember is a very romantic book with many real life experiences to be learned from it. This touching story takes place in a small town called Beaufort, located in North Carolina. The main characters in the book are Jaime Sullivan and Landon Carter. Jamie went to school but was never part of the "in" crowd. However, her life took a major twist when she decided to help Landon (the popular boy). Their lives change completely as they fall in love and progress on their road to maturity. This book stirred many emotions both positive and negative. What touched me the most was that Jamie, a simple sweet girl and Landon, one striving for reputation and popularity, fell for each other although they were two completely different people. Jamie teaches Landon many life lessons, seeing as her father was the pastor at her church and is around him a lot, since she said that she would help him in any way as long as he promised to not fall in love with her. He agreed to the promise thinking that it would never happen in his life time, but he soon found out he was wrong. I thought it was amazing that she made him promise such an improbable thing when it eventually did truly happen. This book is one of the best books I have ever read, it's very entertaining and believable because you can relate to your own life or past experiences. It has happy times, sad times and times where you are just anticipating what will happen next. This book had me flipping through the pages continuously and had my attention throughout. On a scale of 1-10, this book definitely deserves a 10 and I would recommend it to the young female audience (teenagers), or anyone who enjoys reading romance books.
