Rating: Summary: I hate reading but loved this book Review: I had never read a Sparks book before, though I have heard they are very good. I usually hate to read books but found this story to be great. Sure it's really sad and kinda corny, but it gives a small hope that love is really out there. A real tear-jerker.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book that kept me spellbound from the start. Review: This is an excellent book that I would recommend for readers of all ages. It grabs the reader's attention from the very beginning. Until you have finished the book, be prepared to abandon all other plans.
Rating: Summary: Don't think I'll ever read Nicholas Sparks again... Review: As I was surfing on Amazon one day, "A Walk to Remember" came up as a suggested title based on things I had purchased before. To say that I was thrilled to see another Nicholas Sparks book was an understatement. I bought it immediately and couldn't wait to get started. I was sorely disappointed. I absolutely LOVED "The Notebook." Not one to cry at movies (let alone books), I found myself shedding a couple of tears at the end and have since recommended "The Notebook" as my all-time favorite EVER and have purchased copies as gifts for a number of people. I enjoyed "Message in a Bottle"--although, not as much. I hoped for more of the magic from "A Walk to Remember," but I found it predictable (I guessed both "surprises" long before they were revealed), and I felt like I was reading something written by a 17-year-old, which would be great if I were in high school, but I'm not. And I'm used to reading novels that are much better written and more developed. Perhaps working with a major publisher has created a "need for speed" in Mr. Sparks, but his writing needs more time. I think "A Walk to Remember" could have been just as beautiful and touching as "The Notebook" had he given it more time. (And the larger type to make the book longer just shows how under-developed the story was.) It will take much convincing for me to purchase Nicholas Sparks' next release.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding - Nicholas Sparks does it again!!!!! Review: I happened upon Nicholas Sparks by reading the Notebook and fell completely in love with his writing. He's warm and funny and makes you dive right in from page 1. After finishing the Notebook, I immediatly looked for other books of his and found Message in a Bottle which was also great (movie was no where near as good). So, I now put myself on waiting lists for his books because I will never miss a Nicholas Sparks book as long as I am able to read. A Walk to Remember is as outstanding as his other writings.
Rating: Summary: pure drivel Review: I had read message in a bottle, and while it wasn't the BEST book I ever read, it was still enjoyable, with a little twist at the end. But this was absolutely midless drivel. It was lazy use of the English language; it was so un-thought-provoking!And the story was so predictable, that it is inexcusable that Sparks would not even devote an iota of effort to making the launguage interesting! I felt I had wasted a few hours of my life that I will never get back. Read this if you are hard up for entertainment, and just want to kill a few hours. But do not look to this book for stimulation, or even for a good story! It was just mindless drivel.
Rating: Summary: Not worth the wait Review: Drivel is about how to describe this. Very predictable and not very engaging. I give this a thumbs down. I have read his other two books and thought both were very good. A big disappointment here.
Rating: Summary: Predictable --- same old story Review: USA Today tells us that Nicholas Sparks "has taken as his subject romantic love" -- I beg to differ. I believe he is obsessed with death! People who believe that this is the best author they have ever read have obviously not read very much or of any variety.
Rating: Summary: Unforgettable Review: This book is a must read for all. It is a very touching love story that you can't put down. I will never forget this book and the message it portrays. It is a very uplifting story that will touch everyone's lives. This is the BEST Nicholas Sparks book by far. All I can say is once you read it, you will understand.
Rating: Summary: Done it again.... This was a great book Review: I thought this was one of my favorite loves stories yet. Having a husband who is in remission of cancer, I related to the pain and love that one can feel for the other. I also graduated from a Christian School and can understand her emotions thorought the book. I can't wait for the next book. Nicholas, please hurry. Does anybody han an e-mail address for Nicholas? I know that Danielle Steel has one.
Rating: Summary: A REALLY NICE STORY - EASY TO READ Review: I'm wondering if anyone else had the feeling, because of the very last sentence in the book, that Jamie survived her illness. Landon tells us in that sentence that there is one thing he still hasn't told us: that he now believes that miracles can happen. The miracle he was praying for was her healing. What does someone else think?
