Summary: A book that has a lot to offer for teenagers
Review: I read this book and in the first part of the book it was pretty good and I really liked it. I would say in the middle to end it dragged on. I thought it had a lot of extra writing that shouldn't have been it. I do think it is a good book if you don't concentrate on deatails and look for the overall theme.

Summary: This book touched my soul as a boy.
Review: This is one of the best books I could have experienced as a boy. Now as an Adult I read it again and again. It shows the struggle all youth go trough and how some deal with it. If you get a chance to read the series, please do. You will not be disappointed.

Summary: A very good read
Review: I really enjoyed this book because of the honest, refreshing tone of the author. I empathized with Jeff, and felt his anger and hurt when his mother left him. This is one of those books I read over and over, just to relish Voigt's prose.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: This book was very well written.
Review: Jeff Greene, the main character in this book, has to deal with many problems in his life. When he meets Dicey Tillerman and her family, his problems seem to just melt away. This beautifully written book by Cynthia Voight has many meanings. It also can reach inside and pull out your emotions. Her books have a special meaning about love or unity. The imagery makes the reader a part of the story as a character. In the end, Dicey and Jeff grow closer together, and he feels like he is united with a real family.

Summary: A Solitary Blue---It's worth reading once.
Review: I gave this book three stars. It is not the greatest book that I have read, but everyone should read it at least once. It is basically about a family that has broken up, and the boy lives with his father. His father doesn't show his feelings very well, and the mother only began to when she heard about the boy's sickness. Jeff goes to visit his mother during summer break, when he is with her, he feels what it is like to be loved. The author does a great job at expressing the boy's feelings. The boy, Jeff, is deeply depressed, partly because of having no friends, partly because his family didn't show much love for him until later in his life. This book shows how someone's life can be happy and sad.

Summary: This book is for readers who like predictability.
Review: A Solitary Blue is the story of Jeff Greene from the Tillerman family stories. This book begins with Jeff as a child. As he grows up, he faces many problems. Though it is well written, it lacks the power to hold the reader's interest. It is very predictable, and there are many times when there isn't a great deal of action. It is almost a biography, and it goes through the stages of Jeff's life without much happening. It is rather boring when compared to the first book, Homecoming. In Homecoming the children were always in the middle of an adventure while Jeff basically grew up without any thrills in his life. Although the book can be quite boring, it is still well written. It is very descriptive and helps the reader visualize what is happening. This story is very descriptive but has a hard time keeping the reader's interest.

Summary: Not A Bad Book, Something Worth Reading
Review: During the first section of this book, I got a little confused... though Jeff is a great character. Like a real person, he is described with tons of thoughts and feelings, I felt as if I were a part of the book. Because Voigt's descriptive writing, I found myself yelling outloud at Meldoy, feeling the relaxation Jeff experienced during his trip to the beach. It's an all around good book. I would definetly recommend it to a younger reader.

Summary: The book was very touching and I just couldn't put it down!!
Review: A Solitary Blue is based around a boy, named Jeff's, life. When Jeff was young his mother took off and left him with his father. His father was a caring man but he never showed it. He always had his nose in his studies and never really associated with Jeff. Then when Jeff was around the age of 11 he visited his mother for the first time in years. His mom seemed very caring and fun to be with. Jeff didn't want to leave but he did. Jeff tried to get in touch with her but she never wrote or called. Jeff met his fathers friend, Brother Thomas, who brought life to the house. Jeff then visited his mother again but this time she was way different. The whole summer she was gone and only saw him for like 2-3 days. Jeff hated her from that point on. Not really hate but he was very hurt by what she said to him. This whole happening brought Jeff and the Professor(Jeff's father) together. They did more things together and even laughed together. When they moved Jeff made friends and even had a crush. Melody wanted a divorce so she contacted them and she wanted Jeff. But Jeff didn't want to go to her so he stayed with the Professor. When Jeffs great-grandmother died he got her inheritance and her diamond ring. Meoldy was at Jeffs house waiting for him. She said she was moving but she needed money. Jeff knew what she really came for so he gave her the diamond ring. Melody gave him her jade ring. The moral of the srtory was that Jeff found out what the true treasures in life were. He knew it was the little things that count not just money. But that was all Melody thought about. In conclusion I thought this was a really good book. It was interesting and it kept you wanting to read more.

Summary: A Solitary Blue Is A Good Book For All Readers
Review: I think that A Solitary Blue was a great book. It involved real life situations. This book was about a boy, whos mother left him and his father, when he was in the second grade. She didnt make an effort to have any contact with him until he was in the sixth grade. She sent him a letter asking him to come visit her. While he was visiting, he realized that he loved his mother, and if given the choice between both his parents, he would chose his mother. The next summer, she askes him to visit again, and while he is visiting, he realizes, that she never really loved him, and she is just using him. When he gets back home, he becomes disconected from the outside world, so his father decides that they should move. They move to a log cabin far away, and he makes new friends, adn becomes interested in a girl, but it doesnt seem to work out with them. One day, his comes home and finds his mother there. She wants to divorce his father, and take custody of her son. While living in the cabin, he and his father share some special times, an become closer. All in all, this is a good book for all reders.

Summary: This book was very interesting.
Review: I felt that this book overall was good but, it did have some weak points. It seemed that there was too much description of the setting and not enough description of how the people really felt about each other until the end. I do feel though that the characters were all very uniqe. Melody had the strongest and most interesting personality. While Jeff was very closed up to people and couldn't show his real feelings, like his father, the Professor. The plot of this story was pretty good but, it would introduce characters and describe them a lot when they didn't end up being important. It also went on too long about other unimportant things when it still could have been a great book if there was less desccription. I would recomend this book to anyone who likes stories of family conflicts or a child's view as he grows up in a seperated family.
