Summary: A great book
Review: I LOVED this book!! It has just about everything a young adult reader (me, at least) could want: action, adventure, romance... another thing that I liked about this book was how she switched the point of view. She even wrote about the villian's point of view, and I almost understood them. Torina and Landen are great characters, and this is a great book. The only thing that I didn't like about this book was the cover (sorry, illustrator). So BUY it! READ it! LOVE it!! It's WORTH YOUR MONEY!! (:

Summary: Review
Review: This book is one of the best, no the best book I have ever read. The characters are perfect in every way Hanley develops them. this book was the only book (chapter book that is) that I have read in one sitting. I can't believe how perfect this book is! The romance was just enough without getting sappy or leaving the reader dissapointed. Vesputo is the best kind of villain: The truly evil and powerhungry kind. I admired every word or thing that Landen did, and Torina is the best princess character since Cimerene. Read it, I command you to!

Summary: phenomenal!
Review: Minutes, and then hours pass after I have read this novel. My hand still sweats, my mind races with thought, and all the while, the only thought that is clear in my mind is WHY COULDN'T I HAVE SAVORED EVERY PAGE!?

Hanley's writing technique is absolutely beautiful, and the plot was unbelievably strong and captivating. The characters were the most original ones I have ever read in literature, whether it be fantasy, adventure, historical, or science fiction.

I take it that you, the reader, have read the summary of the novel, so I wont bore you into reading another review.

My heart aches because of how finely the feelings were expressed, and how the ending took place. My first though was that the castle was set for the wedding for Landen and Torina, but again the novel surpassed my expectations. SEER AND THE SWORD doesn't concentrate on one main category, that's part of its enduring quality. It features adventure, romance, fantasy, and what I would say the most important quality, PLOT! There's never a dull moment, so it is more than a possibility to finish the novel in one sitting. My suggestion is to curl up in a comfortable position on your favorite couch/chair, and dig in to the many comforts SATS(SEER AND THE SWORD)can offer. And believe me, THERE ARN'T FEW! When I finally finished the novel I felt a sort of hollowness, believing that no book could ever hope to match that of SATS. Now I am in a state of melancholy, despairing whether I will EVER read another such book....

Even though I have come across hundreds (literally) of reviews which state how their novel so-and-so is the best, and how their so-and-so novel just CANNOT be surpassed, believe me when I tell you that SATS is the best novel of all time. There's something for everyone in this work of art.

Summary: One of those books you hate to finish
Review: There is a certain point, in certain books, where the characters become real and their struggles seem more important than anything in the world (certainly more important than going to bed at a decent hour or arriving at work on time). When you reach that point in a story, you know that you've found a treasure. This was such a book. It entranced my mind for the time that it took me to read it, and stayed with me long after. It was a intrigue and suspense filled, swashbuckling adventure in a vibrant fantasy world. It had all of the elements necessary to satiate the romantic mind--captive princes who forge their own nobility, princesses who save themselves, bands of honorable thieves, and charming connivers who weasel and poison their way to the top. The Seer and the Sword was a refreshing and pleasant surprise, and I recommend it to anyone (child or adult) who wants a fun and enticing read.

Summary: Fantastic!
Review: The Seer and the Sword was wonderful. I couldn't put it down. I hadn't read a book like that in a long time. So romantic. And both the main characters, Torina and Landen, are so strong and brave and compassionate. Her book is filled with good messages for anyone who reads it.

And...my compliments to the cover illustrator. The more I read, the more the cover illustrations (front and back) seemed alive. On the front: Willful and wise Torina with her wild hair, gentle and elegant mouth, fierce eyebrows. On the back: The peaceful sword with the mysterious prince a shadow on the blade. Very nice. Very in tune with the book.

Summary: Hanley's Seer and the Sword a Soaring Success
Review: In The Seer and the Sword, Victoria Hanley takes us into the kingdom of Archeld, where Princess Torina, the strong, intelligent female protagonist, leads us on a quest for freedom, order, and love. The book is promoted as a fantasy for young readers, and, indeed, this young reader (over 40), a non-fantasy reader, found it engaging from beginning to end.

I can't wait for Hanley's second novel.

Summary: Extraordinary Kingdoms!
Review: With character development skills similar to those of Anne McCaffrey's in The Dragonriders of Pern(R) novels, Victoria Hanley uses focused concepts of right and wrong to bring to life her characters' kingdoms, struggles, disappointments and victories. She wonderfully weaves love found, lost and regained within a flowing story line of kingdoms seized, fought over and regained.

Princess Torina confronts visions of futures that might be and devotes her life to understanding how those visions can reshape a present gone wrong. As well, by setting him free she innocently enslaves a defeated prince, Landen, to herself.

The son of a king defeated, Landen, under the conquering king learns skills of war which were never needed in the kingdom of his father. Serving right, but in his own way, Landen becomes the central force in attempting to correct wrongs done both to him and to princess Torina.

Without certain knowledge that the other lives, the princess and the vanquished prince each move the story Victoria Hanley develops into a page-turning adventure. While it is said to be a story for teens, her skill kept this adult reader exceptionally mesmerized. In her world of believable make-believe and through her characters' many wonderful exploits, I found I lived their adventure. Hopefully, Victoria Hanley will create more stories set in these extraordinary kingdoms!

Summary: The Seer and The Sword
Review: This book was a delight to read! From the minute I picked it up I was hooked and couldn't put it down until I was finished. One of its unique strengths is the strong, heroic female protagonist who would inspire any teen-ager and thrill any parent who has been searching for this particular needle in a haystack. I invited author Victoria Hanley to appear on my radio talk show and she was as skilled with the spoken word as she is with the written. This book is a must-read for anyone who loves books containing rich fantasy and imagination!

Summary: The Seer and The Sword
Review: This is a riveting, excellently written book aimed at teens and pre-teens, but enthralling at any age! If you enjoy Marion Zimmer Bradley, or the Harry Potter series, I think you will find this book impossible to put down. I couldn't! Would recommend it to anyone who likes the magical fantasy type adventure story.
