Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: It was full of action and suspense and was beautifully written. I love the ending.
Rating: Summary: Astonishingly good book Review: My sixteen year old daughter first read this book when she checked it out of the library so she could have something to do a book report on. She loved it so much that she went out and bought it with her own money (!!)--something she hardly ever does. Then my fourteen year old son read it, and he too loved it--for different reasons. Pretty soon they were quoting the book to me (!!) and squabbling about which were the best parts. Finally the book was getting so dog-eared that I ended up buying each of them their own copy. Then I read it myself, just to see what the big thrill was. I stayed up until 3 in the morning reading this book!! I'm over forty, and I can't remember when was the last time I stayed up so long because I just had to see what happened to the characters. This book really does have something for anyone. Battles, love, treachery, and ingenuity. I highly recommend it. It's wonderfully well written, and just full of adventure.
Rating: Summary: The Seer and The Sword PLC Review Review: Princess Torina lives a charmed life in the Kingdom of Archeld. Her father, King Kareed, seizes the peaceful kingdom of Bellandra--and its legendary sword, rumored to be able to defeat any enemy. On his return, he offers Torina two gifts: a beautiful crystal and the defeated king's son, Landen, as a slave. Both prove to be more special than she ever thought using them Torina makes two discoveries: She is a seer, able to glimpse the future in her crystal, and Landen is not a servant but a friend. But all is not well in Archeld. Beneath the seemingly orderly surface people have greed, revenge, and plot's against the king's life. Fingers point to Landen, but Torina cannot believe he would harm her or her family. Can she use her new found powers to save her beleaguered kingdom? Or must the seer take up the sword?
Rating: Summary: Best LOVE story ever written Review: seer and the sword is the best love story ever written. landen and torina go through so much, and their hearts are tested more and more as the book unfolds. theres trechery and heartach and battles and through it all, even when landen thinks torina is dead, he still loves her withall his heart. oh you will not believe how much you feel when you read this book. he is the hero you will love too, and you feel all the pain he has to endur.
Rating: Summary: Best Best Best Review: I'm over 30 and I love this book. In fact, my two favorite books are this one and its companion book, The Healer's Keep. For one thing, the love story in this book is written with such feeling, between two amazing characters, so that as a reader you feel what they feel. Also, I've never seen the subject of war and peace treated with so much insight and sensitivity. The main character, Landen, is a great warrior who despises killing. The book doesn't advocate being a complete pacifist--and in fact Landen's father loses his kingdom because not only does he not believe in war but he also doesn't prepare for it just because he doesn't believe in it. Landen, on the other hand, learns from his father's mistakes and helps to rescue the kingdoms from invaders because he is such a smart fighter. If you like great storytelling written with deep feeling, this book is for you, whatever your age. The first time I read it, I stayed up half the night. I have since read it again and again, and each time I love the characters more.
Rating: Summary: Good book for fantasy lovers Review: The Seer and the Sword is book that I consider a good read, however those who are looking for good writting in books like The Lord of the Rings had best stay clear. I'd say it's 7 grade reading level, but still good for older people.
Rating: Summary: OMG!!!... I AM IN LOVE!!... Review: I love this book almost as much as Johnny Depp!!! That says a lot! I am now in love with Landen, even though that's really sad, and my two fav quotes are from the book. One describes Landen's eyes as "the glowing fires of a sun merging with cool depths of still water" and I get giddy every time I read it! (By the by, its on the last page of Part One if your interested!) The other one, "The moment is vast" is just said at random times during the book and just sticks with you for no apparent reason. I love it, you have to read it, but remember: Landen is mine!
Rating: Summary: The Seer and the Sword Review: Mischievious, courageous, adventurous Princess Torina Archelda is the only child of King Kareed. Kareed is a warrior who is constantly seeking to gain more power by gaining more land. After conquering the the king of the peaceful country of Bellandra, he brings home Bellandra's famous sword and locks it away, where it would lay forgotten. To Torina he gives two things: a magical crystal, and Landen, the exiled prince of Bellandra to be her slave. But Torina's kindness will not allow her to keep a slave. Istead, she sets him free, and he begins to train as a warrior, against his old country's pacifist beliefs. When Torina saves his life after seeing a vision in her magic crystal, the two become close friends and grow to trust each other. As Torina grows into a young woman, they slowly lose their companionship for each other, though Landen continues to trust her. He warns Tornia of her betrothed, Vesputo's plots for the throne, and Torina turns him away. When Vesputo does carry out his plans, Landen and Torina both flea the country separately. Torina hides in a tiny village in Desante, covering anything that might give her identity away. Landen becomes a famous worrior and leads his own band of criminals to steal things for King Ardesen of Desante. Eventually they discover that they are important players in Vestupo's political plot to gain power. All the characters that are introduced are essential to the story and are brave, clever, and well described. The action is filled with excitement and and romance is unbelievable. Fans of fantasy will be swept into the story of betrayal, action, and romance.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME Review: This is a great book. It's got everything you could wish for--fantasy, romance, adventure...the list goes on and on! I gave this book only four stars because while it's good, it's not wonderful, and the writing isn't great. It's a good read for any fantasy fan, though.
Rating: Summary: WOW!!!! Review: This book is a must read! It is soooo wonderful, filled with adventure and tragedy. I recommend it to everyone!!! I can't wait to ger the Healer's keep, and if I lived in the states I'd have it allready!
