Summary: review
Review: I thought that this was an OK book. I really think that it portrays very accurately what it would feel like to be a Japanese person living in Hawaii after Pearl Harbor was attacked. I also felt that there weren't enough cheerful parts, and that it had too much sadness and discrimination. Others might enjoy this book but I didn't.

Summary: Racism against Japanese Americans
Review: I gained a lot of knowledge from this novel. This book taught me to treat others equally even if they are of a diffreent race. Billy treated Tomi with respect and loyalty throughout the novel despite the fact that Tomi was Japanese. This book made me more aware of what the Japanese Americans encountered after the Pearl Harbor attack.

Summary: Under The Blood-Red Sun
Review: This is a terrific book. The story is about a boy named Tomi Nakaji. He lives in Oahu, Hawaii, when Pearl Harbor is attacked by the Japanese. During this difficult time, Tomi has to face many challenges such as Keet Wilson, the Japanese Bullies, and his father and grandfather getting arrested. The only people he has left now are his sister, mother and his buddies (the Rats). Tomi's world vanishes in an hour, however, he still needs to be the man of the house and help his family get through this horrible loss.

Review: This was required for my 6th grade class. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. It is a story about a 13 year old Japanese boy, Tomi, and his best friend, Billy. They live in Hawaii. On December 7, 1941, their world suddenly changes and comes crashing down on them. This is the story of their friendship and what it was like to be Japanese in Hawaii at this time in history.

Review: Brett - This is a fabulous book. When I started reading the book, I couldn't stop. It was amazing how the main character got through all of his hardships. I was especially impressed when he became the man in the family and took care of the family's katana.

Summary: Under the Blood Red Sun Review
Review: "Under the Blood Red Sun" is a thrilling book which takes place in Hawaii during the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor. It is about a wonderful friendship between Tomi, who was Japanese, and a boy named Billy who is white. "Under the Blood Red Sun" tells about the difficult things that Tomi and his family go through. Billy remains loyal to Tomi, while other people in Hawaii are prejudice and blame all Japanese families for the bombing. This is a wonderful story about friendship, family, loyalty, patriotism, determination and prejudice.

Summary: A Book all Americans Must Read
Review: When I finished Under the Blood-Red Sun, I thought to myself, "Wow, to think this book was a new title to me." Immediately after I read it I knew my sister would love it, so I gave it to her. All the time I was reading it I was up-dating my family on what was happening when I got to the attacks, my other sister told me to stop for she was so caught up, she was going to read it. Well, that night I was going to a party at a friends house so I very reluctantly gave it to her. She finished it that night. After what has just happened to our nation last Tuesday, I am convinced that every American should read Under the Blood-Red Sun to see how citizens reacted to the most recent example of horrible acts of war.
