Summary: The Accusation of Innocents
Review: 1692 was a crucial year in the history of Salem, Massachusets. It was the beginning of an era in which innocent victims were tried for witchcraft and wizardry. Evidence as small as a mark on the accused victim would be enough to determine whether he or she was involved with the devil. Mary Chase and her mother lived in the small pilgrim-populated town of Salem when, in 1692, girls became afflicted and it was said that witches roamed the paths Salem. After friends of the Chases being tried for witchcraft, Mary's mother was accused. Mary and Caleb (her older brother) had to overcome and extremely difficult obsticle; how to save their mother from being hung as a witch.

What I liked about this novel was not only did the book tell about Mary's story and her point of view, but it also told the other characters' stories. For example how the afflicted girls families dealt with the fits thrown by the girls, or the different incidents in the meetings. This novel compared with others I have read because it dealt with alot of diversity and how to handle prejudice stituations. This is a story that I would recommend to others because it is an excellent historic novel and it is extremely difficult to put down.

Summary: A Sentimental Tale
Review: A truly touching story that captures the mind, heart, and soul. I was extremely intrigued, beyond a doubt, with this book. It made me more and more excited to turn the next page. This book is called, Beyond the Burning Time. The time and place (Salem, Massachusetts; 1600's) makes the perfect setting for this sentimental story, telling the tale of how a teenage girl, Mary, tries to save her mother from being named a witch by all of Salem.

Summary: Beyond Burning Time Book Review
Review: Beyond burning time is an exciting book on the lives of two women trying to escape the madness of salem. When Ann Puttman claimed to be possesed, caose spread through the town of salem, as innocent people were killed and arrested for witchcraft. when Mary's mother was acused of witchcraft, Mary and her brother Caleb make an attempt to rescue her.

This novel is original and unique from most books that I have read. My opinion on the book was changed when I learned similar things happened in the past. I recommend this book for all ages because of the tradgedies and adventures of Salem, that really showed how evil and greedy the world can be.

Summary: Fatmanbobs book reveiw of beyond the burning time.
Review: Beyond the Burning Time Book Review
Beyond the Burning Time is an interesting book. It is based in true events and is historical fiction. Its plot is based on the Salem witch hangings in 1692. AT the time Massachusetts had no regional government, which led to the execution of innocent people without fair trial. Superstition of witches began to take hold of North America in the late 1600s.

The most recorded executions of accused witches occurred in Salem village. It began when (or so the book says) when a fortuneteller named Tituba stared predicting a group of girl's fortunes. The girls then started behaving strangely days after. They threw strange fits. The villagers believed it was the work of evil hands A.K.A. witches. Superstition took over and the Salem townsfolk started to accuse other people of being witches. The Chases, Mary, Caleb, and Virginia, unwillingly find themselves victims of atrocities committed by the villagers. Then Virginia, Mary and Caleb's mother, is accused of being a witch. The children formulate a plan to save their mother before she is hanged.

All the main characters in this book were down to earth decent people. They were persistent in their beliefs, yet they were simple. I would only recommend this book to intellectuals and philosophers. People will have to carefully read through it to enjoy it. I personally liked it. It's important that we understand History so we do not make mistakes.

Summary: pretty good
Review: Beyond the burning time by Kathryn lansky is about a town that goes bad. The main character is a 12- year -old girl named Mary. When several girls start acting peculiar and start having fits, seisures, and twisting there body in unnatural ways. Saying it was the devil they accused innocent people of witchcraft. Their false accusations killed many people. A little while after Marys mother Virginia was accused of witchcraft. Mary and her brother Caleb try to devise a plan to help her escape.

At first the book is confusing but once you get into it starts getting better. Still my favorite type of reading is science fiction like Brian Jacques series or the lord of the rings trilogy. Anyway I would recommend this book to all types readers

Summary: Different
Review: Beyond the Burning Time by Kathryn Lasky was a book about Salem Village in 1692. I found this book confusing and dull. It lacked detail and points of interest. It seemed to drag on and just when you thought the end was near the author would introduce something else. Part of the reason I didn't enjoy the book is I don't believe in witch craft and the author didn't do anything to convince me otherwise.

This was a good thinking book. It made me think about gossip and the effects it has on people and how hard it would be to have been accused of being a witch with out evidence.

This is a book I would recommend to people who enjoy suspense ,mystery and historical fiction. It was not easy reading so I would recommend it for people grades 7-12. I prefer a book with more action and real life experiences that I can relate to.

Summary: A very interesting book
Review: Beyond the Burning Time is a great book. This historicalfiction is not only educational, but it is very interesting. Beyondthe Burning Time is a book about the Salem Witch Trials. As most people know, the Salem Witch Trials took place in the late 1600's. To be more precise, they took place in the year of 1692. It tells a story about a girl named Mary Chase who watches all the horrible things going on in her once quiet town. All of the "afflicted" girls cause many people to be hanged because they are accused of witch craft. All of the afflicted girls are Mary's age, and she wonders and worries all of the nasty seizures that the afflicted girls have will happen to her. Then, when her mother becomes of witch craft, Mary and her brother Caleb have to try to put an end to all these deaths. Can they save their mother in time, or are they too late? Well, you will just have to read this book to find out. I'm sure you will enjoy this book.

Summary: Excellent book that brings reality to the Salem witch hunts.
Review: Beyond the Burning Time is a realistic portrayal of the witch hunts in Salem, MA. This young adult novel appeals to grown-ups as well. Kathryn Lasky dispells many of the myths associated with the witch trials. This is a must read for any one interested in this time period.

Summary: Beyond the Burning Time
Review: Beyond the Burning Time is an example of life during the Salem witch trials. It follows the story of Mary Chase and her family who live in Salem Village during the time of the witch trials. These girls are being afflicted and there is gossip going around that some people might be the witches. Mary knows the girls who are being afflicted by the "witches" supposedly haunting Salem. Mary doesn't think much of it until her mother is accused of witchcraft. Mary gets her brother, Caleb from the shipyards where he works and they conceive a plan to save their mother.

Soon the madness spreads and Mary was forced to move out of Salem Village with Caleb. Caleb knew his surroundings in Salem because he would walk around sometimes after his daily shift was over at the shipyard. That was where Caleb and Mary began their journey. Their goal was to speak to the Governor about their mother and all the other people accused of being witches. They had made it to the Governors office, and Caleb said that his boss had sent him from his shipyard to get in to see him. So they talked, and Caleb couldn't get to the part that innocent people were being accused of witchcraft. So they left, and Mary started to have her doubts on how she was to get her mother out of jail. They had put her in chains. That night Mary started to think of a plan, but she needed someone else to help her.

While they stayed, Mary found a job at a restaurant and Caleb worked at the shipyard. At the restaurant, the captain for one of the ships in the shipyard, Captain Coatsworth, came in and heard Mary's story of her mother from another waitress and offered to help Mary.

Salem witch trials captures the mass hysteria, the ignorance, the violence, the power struggle, and the many self-interest that drove the New England community to accuse 24 people as agents of the devil. Mary's effort is dramatic, especially now when she grows fierce and strong in her determination to set her mother free. She must find out where her mother is supposed to be hung and comes up with a plan.

Great summer reading!
