Rating: Summary: This is a quick great read that you will not soon forget. Review: I tell people about this book everyday. It is funny, sad, joyful and will give you goosebumps at times. My favorite chapter is on Cookie, the sled dog who save's Paulsen's life. It is a great book for all age groups and especially meaningful to dog lovers everywhere.
Rating: Summary: Amazon Review Review: I think the book "My Life in Dog" years by Gary Paulsen was a very good book. He used great imagery and use many thing that the reader could relate toin their life. He uses it by telling stories about dogs. Everyone, or almost everyone in their life has had a dog. In his stories about the dogs that he has owned or the ones that have just come to him for companionship. I especially like the story about Ike how he had the little twist at the end when he met the dog owner so many years later. I really like the easy reading and the length of the book, but in the short book there is just as more description and qualities in this as one that is five hundred pages. I recommend this book to anyone of all ages in was a great book.
Rating: Summary: Dogs! Dogs! Dogs! Review: My Life In Dog Years by Gary Paulsen is a collection of short stories of the many dogs the author had owned. Each chapter expounds a single dog whose memory graces Paulsens mind. I would recommend this book to both Gary Paulsen fans and dog lovers alike.
Rating: Summary: My Life in Dog Years Review: My Life in Dog Years was a really interesting book, I really enjoyed hearing about how all of Gary Paulsens life he's always been with dogs! It was fascinating to hear how intelligent each dog was, in their own way. The one thing that I disliked about this book was how every dog died, and I know that happens but it was so sad. I would recommend this book to dog lovers, and anyone else who is just looking for a good book!
Rating: Summary: Dog Lover;s Young and Old Will Love This Book!! Review: Oh! This is a book worth reading. Basically Gary Paulson devotes each chapter to one of several dogs that played an important role in his life. An animal lover to the hilt, Paulsen will introduce you to dogs that protected him, hunted with him, played with him and just hung out with him on his ranch. Each story is tender and gives the reader glimpses into Paulsen's childhood (riddled with alcoholism and neglect)as well as his adulthood (filled with dogs, horses and a person or two!) Written at a sixth grade reading level, this book would be a great read-aloud at bedtime for kids six and up. Both kids and adults will want to get up and hug the family dog goodnight once they finish a single chapter in this gem of a book. What a find!
Rating: Summary: Mary: A "Dog Lover" Plus Review: This book is about a man named Gary Paulsen and all of the dogs he has owned that have had an effect on his life. Each chapter is about a different dog, and what it did to make the dog special to Gary. Because I am a "dog lover" I thought this book was great. It is written very well and I think it was worth reading. I like how it is about all different kinds of dogs, each dog has different personality and a different story. It's pretty exciting to read because you're always wondering what the next dog is going to do, whether it is saving someone's life or just making someone smile. Until you read My Life In Dog Years you probably won't realise the impact our pets or animals can have on our lives. There is an amazing relationship that we have with our pets and this book captures that. I recommend My Life In Dog Years to only people who truly love dogs. If you are not a "dog person" then I highly doubt you would enjoy this book. My Life In Dogs Years is written at a 6th grade level, but it is read by all different ages. It is a great book and if you love dogs then I guarantee you will love this book.
Rating: Summary: Very very good book Review: This book is about Gary Paulsen and his life with all his dogs. I loved how he described the dogs, and my favorite dog was Josh, his border collie. Once Josh turned on the faucet for an irrigation ditch! If you love dogs like I do you will love this book. If you don't like dogs you'll learn to appreciate them. Jacob Gilden, age 9
Rating: Summary: A reader from Michigan Review: This book is very well written and is an excellent choice for teachers who are teaching the genre "autobiography". Though the book centers around the adventures of dogs in Gary Paulson's life, it gives the reader true insight about why Gary is the way he is and why he writes the kind of literature he does. I read this as a read aloud to my students and you could hear a pin drop for 20 minutes each day. One of my students even chose to write his autobiography in this format. A must for every teacher's library!
Rating: Summary: The Great Book Review: This book was published by Bantam Doubleday Dell Books for young readers on July 1999. My Life in Dogs Years has not won any awards but the ratings are at the top of the list. I liked this book becaause of the way it was written and because it was about all kinds of dogs. It was really good i can tell you that from experence that the author put alot of work in this book, telling about all of his amaazing dogs Cookie, Snowball, Ike, Quincy, Josh and what they have done for him. These dogs are just so great that you would wish you had one just like them. I mean these dogs go from being a life saver to being a farm dog. This book is great for all ages no matter if you have someone read to you or you read on your own. After a little bit of reading you will be sitting up and begging for more. Most of his books are terrific because some are scary, funny, depressing, trilling you just got to love them. Ever since i started reading his books he is my favorite author. Also after you finish reading this book and you liked it there is a another book called NightJohn by Gary Paulsen and that is a terrific book too.
Rating: Summary: My life in dog Years Review: This is a good book for people who like dog. I think that it is good that Gary Paulsen spent most of his time with creatures he liked to be around. One thing I did not like is that every time he would get real close to a dog it would either die or it would find a new home. Almost every dog that he has had has saved his life some how. Every time he would lose a dog there would always be another dog that he would find and he would take the dog and they would go do everytinhg together. This is a good book and I would recommed this book to any one that loves dogs.
