Summary: I give it 2 paws up!
Review: A fast paced and enjoyable read, great for "reluctant readers" and animal lovers alike! I devoured it in one sitting! Two paws up!

Summary: Heartwarming!
Review: A truly delightful autobiographical look at about 15 wonderful dogs. You'll laugh, cry, smile, and feel great as you read this book. And best of all, you'll find yourself thinking back about the wonderful cast of characters.

Summary: Great book for dog lovers
Review: Any dog lover is likely to find something about the dogs they know in Paulsen's latest nonfiction book for young adults. I especially liked the chapter about Rex, the farm dog, that reminded me of many great memories of the collie I had on the farm where I grew up.

Summary: I laughed, I cried!
Review: As an avid Gary Paulsen reader, I was delighted to discover this book when one of my students shared it with me. I took it home and finished it in an hour or two. Never have I read a book that captures the essence of the love of and from a dog as in this one. I especially loved Caesar, or as a little girl wrote it, "Seezer." As always, Gary Paulsen writes with an uncanny ability to place a person in his shoes and takes them on an emotional rollercoaster. I found myself reflecting on the dogs I have loved throughout my life and wanting to jot down a little something about all of them. A must-read for every dog-lover!

Summary: This book is a must have for all dog-lovers, I loved it!
Review: Gary Paulsen has made yet another great book. I love dogs, so naturally I liked it. I also think it was very humorous. Maybe even a few cat-lovers will like it, too. The bond he shares with the dogs, I think, is kind of heart-warming and sad.

Summary: Paulsens close companionship to man's best friend.
Review: Gary Paulsen has owned many great dogs over the years, and each dog has its own special characteristics and abilities, in their own special way. Throughout the book, different dogs help, protect, and make Paulsen laugh during his bad times. Among some of the dogs were Cookie, the sled dog who saved his life; Snowball his favorite friend that he owned as a little boy in the Philippines; Ike, his mysterious hunting dog, who would never follow Paulsen home. Instead he would wait until the next day when Paulsen went to hunt, and he would be right by his side. One of my favorite parts of the book was the little twist about where Ike was always going, and why he didn't follow Paulsen home. Dirk was Paulsens K-9 bodyguard. Although he was small, don't let him fool you, he would take on any challenge that would lye in his path. Josh is a brilliant Border collie that Paulsen still owns to this day. Josh was more human than dog. When Paulsen would talk to him, he would not only listen, but in a way he would talk back. Josh has great talent, and is always watching out for everyone. My Life in Dog Years is definitely a five-star book. Paulsen used great imagery that you can relate to in your own life experiences. It was the perfect length book, that was not to long, not too short. It was a very detailed book that made you want to keep reading until you were finished. This book will make you laugh and make you cry. My favorite dog was probably Josh because of how smart he is, and how fast that learns things. All of the dogs were great companions, and had a close relationship with Paulsen. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves dogs, or is just looking for a good read.

Summary: Dog lovers, Paulsen fans, YA lovers, you've GOT to read it!
Review: Gary Paulsen never lets me down. Written at about a 6th grade level, the text is still eloquent, wonderful writing with stories I enjoyed even as an adult reader. Paulsen chronicles his amazing life through the lens of a dog lover, relating his own experiences with several of his dog friends over the years. As an avid Paulsen fan and a "dog person" myself, I could not put the book down, and found myself going from tears to nodding my head in recognition to laughing out loud. I've got a long list of fellow "dog people" with whom I can't wait to share this treasure!

Summary: A great read-aloud
Review: I am a librarian at a junior high school. I have read this book (or chapters of it) to students, and so have a few of the other teachers. Students always enjoy it, and there is always a line to check it out. We especially love "Ike"--the kids are amazed (and so am I) that Paulsen found out what happened to him 30 years later!

Summary: Dogs a Million
Review: I chose this book, bcause it really looked interesting. This book is about the author, Gary Paulsen, and some of his dogs he has owned. My favorite dog was Josh, because he was the smartest and he always watched over his owner and friends. My favorite part was when another dog of his, Quincy, had jumped out of Paulsen's car into Dairy Queen. Over all, this book was too good to put down.
