Summary: the invisible ghost
Review: I liked the story line in "Pleasing the Ghost"because of the mixed-up,comical language that's used and the buly,Billy Baker. He cracked me up because of the way he said things for example."Get your stupid stinking dog away from me!"now Billy's funny My favourite character was Uncle Arvie. He used mixed-up,scrambled words. My least favourite character is the mother because she complaines too much. "Pleasing the Ghost"is quite similar to a book our class read called "The B.F.G."Of course,I would have to say I liked "Pleasing the Ghost"better than it because it had many more characters. My favourite part of the book was when Uncle Arvie was squishing the chocolates that Colin gave to Julia and when Colin thought he was being stung by wasps;but it as really Uncle Arvie! It was comical! I am not sure what the real prblem was but I think the only problem was the bully,Billy Baker. He called everyone and everything stupid when really he was the stupid one! The artwork gave away answers to the chapters and I did not like that, luckly there was only pictures at the beginning of each chapter. The authors style of writing was very similar to other authors writing style, for example Roald Dahl. They both do not use real words, for example from "Pleasing the Ghost"-"dunder" and from "The B.F.G."-"whispopping." I recommend this book for all ages because it has comical language, suitable and appropriate language. The theme of this book is about a boy who is just getting over his father I did not like it because it makes me get a sad lonely feeling of how I would feel if my father passed on.

Summary: A Story about a Boy and Some Ghosts
Review: I liked this book "Pleasing the Ghost" because this and "Casper" are the only books I've read about ghosts. I liked how Uncle Arvie spoke because he spoke his own language and it was funny. I didn't like the part when Uncle Arvie flew somewhere and Dennis did not know where he went, so Dennis felt pretty sad. I would also be sad if my Uncle flew somewhere and I didn't know where.

The main characters are Bo, Aunt Julia, Billy, Uncle Arvie and Dennis. My favorite character is Bo. Are you wondering who Bo is? bo is a dog--a very small, brown dog. He is my favorite character because I love dogs. Another character that I liked was Uncle Arvie because if you tried to understand him it was hard. You would have to write all of his special words so you wouldn't forget! Some of the words that Uncle Arvie said were "Beany Booger" which meant that Uncle Arvie did not like the person. "Dinosaur" meant "Dennis" and "foodle a doodle" meant that a boy could only see a ghost when he wanted a ghost. "Heartfoot" meant Aunt Julia. "Philanplop" meant I can't steer and "Pepperoni" meant Dad.

I did not like the part when Billy threw a rock at Dennis's window and it shattered in his room on the floor. The problem in the book was that Billy didn't believe that Dennis could see ghosts. I don't see how anyone can see ghosts because they are really fake. All they are, are see-through dead people. Billy and Dennis solved the problemby talking to each other about ghosts and then Billy told Dennis that he could also see ghosts because his Dad was also dead.

I would recommend this book to a grade 3-4-5 because i am in grade 5.

I would rate this book a 3/5 because it was a pretty good book.

THE END!

Summary: A REALLY EXCITING BOOK REVIEW
Review: I liked this storyline of 'Pleasing the Ghost' because the author used neat and interesting words. The words she used were hard to understand, for example riggle, elphant ment right and dog.

I think a book we read called the 'B.F.G.'was almost the same as 'Pleasingthe Ghost'because in the two books there was a person or a giant who used mixed-up words.

I liked the setting because there were many different settings. The setting I liked was when they were in the park. I liked that one because Uncle Arvie was always trying to fly. This was also my favorite part of the story line.

I liked the author's style of writing because she used really stupid words but they were Okay. The words she used in her style of writing that I thought were kind of stupid are: dunder, trumpolink, and good carpet. I liked the illustrations because they were really exciting and comical.

I recommend this book to many different kids in grades 4-6 because the would be too easy for grade 7-8 and too hard for grades 1,2,3. I loved the characters mostly Uncle Arvie. I liked Uncle Arvie because of his language that he used, for example, dunder, trumpulink, aood carpet, riggle, and elephant.

I give the storyline of "Pleasing the Ghost" a 3 1/2 because of some of those words I thought were stupid like dunder, good carpet, elephant, pin wig pasta, yin railroad. What's with that word?

Summary: Liked the plot
Review: I love Sharon Creech's books, however I could tell this was one of her first. Most of her books have deep meaning.I wasn't impressed with the description but thought the book had a cool plot, knowing Shsron Creechs writing she could have done better.

Summary: A Real Pleaser!
Review: I read this book last year to 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th graders and just finished reading it to this year's 2nd grade. The kids enjoyed figuring out what Uncle Arvie was talking about. Even though we only read it once a week the students remembered, talked about, and were very anxious for library day so we could read more. It is a touching love story, a not so scary ghost story, but most of all a very funny book. Unlike some other reviewers I recommend this book to students from 2nd grade up. Also I would say that it IS as well written as Creeches other books, just written for a younger audience. I'm hoping that she will write more about Dennis and his visiting ghosts. When I finished it today I made a waiting list to read it and over half of the kids signed up. I guess I need a few more copies. Find some kids and read it to them, it will be fun for all of you!

Summary: GHOST MAN
Review: I think 'Pleasing the ghost' was an extraordinary book because of the strange words Uncle Arvie used. Iliked the part when Uncle Arvie was squishing the chocolates, and when Aunt Julia didn't know what was squishing the chocolates.

The theme was about a little boythat could see ghost. His name is Dennis. When Dennis Uncle Arvie came to visit it ment trouble for Dennis. When Dennis told Billy that Uncle Arvie could fly. Billy didn't see it and Dennis could not prove it. After Billy did not see that Uncle Arvie could not fly, Billy started chucking rocks throw the window of Dennis house. The setting took place in a quiet little town. SORRY! I cann't tell you the name of the town because if i told you that i would have to tell you the wholestory. Some of the strang words Uncle Arvie said was mailer, chinkapink, heartfoot, pepperoni, dinosaur, macaroni, fraggle, raggle, pasta, and philanplop. I can't tell you the meaning because I forgot. Just kinding. I don't know what to tell you because that would give away the story.

I recommend this book to people that like fairytales that have ghosts and little boys that can see ghosts.

Summary: Pleasing the ghost
Review: I think the book was pretty good, but the words that Unucie Arive said were hard to understand. You have to get to get far into the book to know what Uncle Arive said. I do not really like Billy thougth. Why? Because he is so mean. When Aunt Juia saw Dennis digging up Aunt Julia's rose bush, Aunt Julia was so mad.I liked thatpart best,Because it made Aunt Julia get mad. Uncle Arive was my favorite character. Ireally like him. Uncle Arive souned funny when he talked. My favorite part was when Dennis made Uncle Arive fly, Because it was funny. The class read a book called the BFG.''What does BFG mean? find out yourself and read the book. I think"Pleasing the Ghost"was a bit better then "the BFG" because "Pleasing the Ghost" was more exciting than the book called "The BFG".

I also like Bo. My other favorite part was when Bo bit Billy's jeans, that was so funny, because Billy was afraid of Bo. At the end of the book was sad because Uncle Arvie went away because the wind caught Uncle Arvie. Dennis was sad too.

I wish I had the book called "Pleasing the Ghost." I think that someone in grade three could read this book. I really liked it. It was so cool because Dennis can see ghosts, I think that is so cool!

I rated it 4 out of 5.
