Summary: It was a good book!
Review: I think it was an alright book, but the author,Robert Lipsyte, could have made it a little better at the end. I would have liked a more realistic ending. Other than that, it was a really great book. Bobby was really misunderstood. Why would Willie want to do those things? Was it because Bobby was Jewish or was it just because he was fat? I don't think it was right for anyone to pick on Bobby. I think my favorite character would probably be Dr. Kahn.He really shouldn't have done what he did to Bobby in the beginning of the book by lowering his salary. Really, other than that, he was pretty nice.It is a really good book. So read it.

Summary: A poorly written book parents should beware of.
Review: One Fat Summer is the story of an overweight teenager made fun of by the local teens in a summer resort. He's over-worked and under-paid by Dr. Kahn, who he takes a summer job with. He lies about his job, he covers up for his sister who is sneaking out of the house with her boyfriend, and he is beaten-up and assaulted at gunpoint by the local bully. There are several innuendos of an adult nature and no alternative behaviors, aside from violence, to resolve conflict. The ending is poorly written, leaving you wondering what happens to him. Unfortunately, this story leaves you with the message that if you're overweight you can only feel good about yourself if you lose weight, its ok for others to make fun of you, and violence is an acceptable solution to your problems. In this day and age this is no message to be sending our children.

Summary: This powerful book gave a riviting impression.
Review: This book gave a riviting impression on every book I will read from now on. I will have to compare every other book to this one. Now about the book. I thought it was very well layed out with the exception of this detail. It didn't make me feel like i was in the 1950's. It sort of made me feel like I was in the early 90's for some strange reason. I am almost positive it was how they didn't describe what the cars looked like and how everything seemed almost the same as it does now as it seems as how he wrote it. Robert Lipsyte needed more details about the 50's and then it would be the best book for adolescence ever written.

Summary: I liked this book because it had many young adult experience
Review: I was assigned this book in my reading class for the six weeks. I think that the book "One Fat Summer" was a very good book. It would probably not be a very good book for very many young kids because of some of the events that went on. But I do think older people would like this book.I think that this book had a lot of real experiences that could actually happen to people. For example,in the book where Bobby was afraid of Dr.Kahn. I can relate to that because I am very shy around strangers. Even though I think the book is good I do think that the ending was weak. He could have thought of a better one. He kind of left you out there wondering wait happens to Bobby the rest of the summer, but other than that I liked it. But I just recently found out that there are two more book that I will probably read to find out what happens

Summary: I didn't like the ending because it left things still undone
Review: I read this book in my middle school reading class. I think the author should have had something done to one of the characters like, maybe Willie would go to jail, or Bobby would lose more weight and not be made fun of. Also, maybe he could have written about the response people gave about Joanie's new nose. Maybe he also could have said that Pete and Michelle where allowed to go out together again. He left many things unsaid. I may read the other two books that go with this series to see if some of my questions are answered.

Summary: I like this book because it's true to life.
Review: This book would be a good book for someone who is overweight because it may give them more confidence to help them lose weight. It also is good for everyone else because they would get an idea of what it's like to be overweight and not be so hard on an overweight person. This book was good because the things that happened in the book happened in real life then and now. I think a book is more interesting if everything isn't honkey-dorey all the time.It seems more realistic. I would like to read another book by this author because he writes about true life experiences.

Summary: one fat summer was one of the greatest book I ever read
Review: The reason why I liked this book is because it made me laugh. I've never just sat down and read a book;this is the first time I ever did it and I liked it!It kept me awake because it got me to reading. If it can do that ,its got to be a great book. I hope the author of the next book we read is you, Mr. Lipsyte!!
