Summary: One Fat Summer
Review: This book is fabulous. It is packed with humor, sad scenes and it really makes you think. I could never set this book down once I got started. When you read it you almost feel like you are Bobby. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a funny, true-life kind of book!
It is summer time and everybody is happy. No school, and having fun is what summer is all about. This is what everyone thinks, except Bobby Marks.
When everybody is having fun swimming and wearing shorts Bobby is not. He will not wear shorts or tank top shirts and he will not go swimming all because he does not want anyone to see how fat he is.
Everything is going wrong. Bobby's best friend Joanie moves away and his dad is constantly nagging at him and telling him "Find a job! Stop sitting around and eating all day!"
Finally Bobby does find a job, mowing Dr. Kahn's lawn. Dr. Kahn is a rich man who is always pressuring Bobby. Bobby has everything he dosen't want, heat, enemies, fat, and no best friend. Could all of this change and make Bobby really like summer and look forward to the next, or could it go on like the worst thing in the world and never stop? If you read this book I guarantee you will find the answer and really enjoy it.

Summary: Bobby Marks touches your heart and brings the novel to life.
Review: I read One Fat Summer by Robert Lipsyte. I felt the book was very predictable and an easy read. Although, it was direct and fit its purpose. The plot consited of one main character named Bobby Marks, who is in a word, over weight. To pass time, and keep his parents off his back, he finds a job cutting a rich, stingy owners estate. Dr. Kahn, Bobbys boss lowers his pay drastically after the first day, when Bobby cut mearly a forth of the lawn. It seems as though everyone is against him, the one person he confides in has left surprizingly, his parents who wanted him to go to summer camp from the beginning offer him no support. The suspence comes in while the previouse worker for Dr.Kahn starts to cause trouble with Bobby, because he wants the lawn job back. The book has many conflicts that arouse, this gives the book depth and moves it along. One of the conflicts that I have mentioned above is a major part of the novel and is mentioned often. I'm refurring to his best friend who has abanded him for the summer. She leaves unexpectedly and refuses to tell anyone why. This is one of the main reasons Bobby gets a job, it helps to take his mind off of things and it keeps him busy. I thought that this book would have been better had it been more challenging. The story seemed to be intended for younger readers, and the context had few challenging words. I found it difficult to fit the vocabulary requirments. However I thought the book had a good story line and I would ironically recommend the book. Part of the reason would be, it flowed smoothly, grabbing and keeping your attention right from the beginning. The novel opens with: " I always hated summer when people take off there clothes, in the winter you can hide yourself. In someways I found myself relating Bobby to people I know. The novel makes you apart of another persons struggle to live. The ending although predictable leaves you wanting more. I found the story to be captivating and meaningful. I felt that Rhode Dulls books reacted well in comparison to One Fat Summer. In particular "Matilda" Both books had a good story line that kept you reading. In both novels the main character experiences difficulty with there lives and conflicts with there parents. I think you will see the comparison. All in all One Fat Summer is a decent read, I wouldn't give it an academy award but it reaches its point. Of course I'm going by my own prefrence. I guess you can't judge a book by it's cover or a review.

Summary: ONE FAT REVIEW
Review: This book was about a boy named Bobby Marks. He is over weight and is made fun of because of it. Willie Rumerson calls him names like crisco and fats. Willie is Bobby's worst enemy. He threatens Bobby and tries to embarrass him by leaving him on an island naked.
My favorite part is when Willie comes up to the dock with a 22-rifle in his hand. He has Bobby, Joanie, and one of the Mario brothers held up at the dock. And then Bobby almost drown him.
The setting was in the summer time and it was hot.

Summary: This book is full of everything! It is very well written!
Review: I like this book because it has a lot of action and I can relate to some of Bobby's experiences. I also like this book because it was well -written with very good adjectives for all the characters. Also, all the characters play a strong role and help a lot for the main character, Bobby. I think the book has a good title because it fits what the story is about. It is filled with suspense, joy(expecially the end),drama, love, and much more!! One Fat Summer rarely has any mistakes; like skipping parts which is good for young readers to read and follow. That is another reason I like it is because it is good for young and older people. This teaches young people how life was back in the fifties, so that life doesn't repeat its mistakes!! And this book was the best book read so far by my reading class!!

Summary: One Fat Summer
Review: In this book young Bobby Marks is an overweight kid. Since he is overweight he is always teased and picked on. He is called names like crisco because he is fat in a can. The person in this book that gives him the hardest time is Willie Rumson. Willie picks on him and also threatens his life. He threatens his life all because Bob got a lawn mowing job and he didn't.
This book expresses that you shouldn't make fun of people because they are overweight or have disabilities. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a ten. I reccomend this book to anyone who wants a good laugh. Its probobaly the best book I ever read.

Review: This book is about a boy named Bobby who is very much overweight. He always gets made fun of. He hates the summmer because that's when people wear the least amount of close and he is very self conscious about his body. He hates the fact that he can't cover himself up in sweaters and jackets because the weather is too warm. He gets a summer job at a man named Dr. Khan's house. He has to do lawn work all summer and is constantly afraid that he is going to be beat up by a boy who has problems and thinks the only way to feel better is to try to beat up Bobby. Summary: Quotables
Review: We believe the author created Bobby as a dynamic, emotional character. First, he wants to prove to his father his usefullness
. He tries to prove that to his father by getting a job. Second, he stood up to Willie Rumson, the bully, although Willie held a gun at the time. He was scared but stood up anyway. Last, he wanted to be thin. He often dreams of himself waking up thin. Even though we didn't really like this book, the author created some really good characters, that provide an emotional message.

Summary: I thought this book was Great
Review: This book one fat summer was a great book. This was the first book I actually wanted to read on my own with out having a teacher force me to. The book starts out alright but as you get to the middle of the book it slows down a lot. But as you get towards the end of the book and the confrontation between Bobby Marks and Willie Rumson it picks up more with action. Over all I really thought this book was great. I recommend anyone to read it.
