Summary: Great psychological suspense novel
Review: I read this book last night in one sitting. Wow! I'm 24 (does that count as "young adult"?) and I was mightily impressed and enjoyed it immensely. It might not be appropriate for some younger teens, and it's classification as YA seems quite incidental (to me). Great book :-)

Summary: Eerily well written
Review: I really enjoyed this book. It profiled the life of a 17 year old boy who was recently acquitted of murder and sent to live with his aunt and uncle. While struggling with his own problems, the boy, David, comes in the midst of a marital problem stemming from the death of their eldest daughter many years ago. He is forced to come to terms with his own past, while helping his cousin face her fears in the future. I think that this book was very well-written and suspenseful. The author was able to, in effect, tell two stories at once; the story of David and his murder, and the story of his cousins death. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an enjoyable yet easy read.

Summary: The Killer's Cousin
Review: I really enoyed this exciting book, of a young man who was acquitted of murder. He moves with his aunt and uncle to get away from the public eye. This book had a very chilling, "edge of your seat" storyline which didn't let me set it down. If you like philosophical thillers then this book is for you.

Summary: The Killer's Cousin
Review: If you prefer books about mysteries and a book that will keep you reading, The Killer's Cousin, by Nancy Werlin, would be perfect for you. I rated it a 5. This book keeps you reading until the very end. There is usually a cliffhanger at the end of every chapter. ...The characters in this book didn't always get along, and you keep guessing till the end when they all got along. For example, the aunt and uncle David went to go live with thought he was crazy and his cousin, Lily, and he hated each other till the end. Those are the reasons you should read this book. Because it's very good ...

Summary: One sitting read
Review: Like Werlin's other novels, The Killer's Cousin is fast paced and compelling. It's a one sitting read because you can't stop till you're finished.

I enjoyed the twists and turns in this one.

Summary: An ingenious thriller with a gothic flair.
Review: Recently acquitted of murder, seventeen-year-old David Yaffe has moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts, to complete his senior year of high school. His aunt and uncle have offered him shelter -- escape from the media's incessant questions and from the uncertain glances of his neighbors and ex-friends.

His attic apartment in their house doens't feel much like a shelter, though. He sees ghostly shadows and hears an odd humming sound at night. His aunt is cold and unwelcoming, and his eleven-year-old cousin, Lily, is downright hostile. And as Lily's behavior becomes more and more threatening, David can't help wondering why. What ugly secrets lurk within the walls of Lily's home?

There's one thing David knows with certainty. The longer he stays in the house, and the more he learns about his cousin Lily, the harder it is to avoid thinking about his own past.

Author Nancy Werlin has created an ingenious thriller with a gothic flair. Riveting suspense is combined with astoni! shing insight in this thought-provoking examination of guilt and fear.

Summary: "The suspense almost killed me." Jedi Girl
Review: Surely you've heard his name a thousand times, David Yaffe. In the papers, on the news, everywhere, stories of the killing. So he goes to live with his aunt and uncle, where he is met with an interesting sight. His aunt and uncle are not talking and their daughter really hates him. As life goes on, he finds out that the marriage of his relatives hadn't been stable since their oldest daughter had committed suicide. He keeps seeing this shadow and hearing this weird humming noise in his attic apartment. Will David ever find out what's up with this weird family? Read The Killer's Cousin and find out. This book started of kind of slow but once it got going I couldn't put it down. The secrets that David reveals about this family will just drop your jaw. I started off hating his cousin, Lily, but then her secret comes out and you pity her and all of the suffering that she has gone through. This was a really good book and I recommend it to anyone who likes a good mystery. This book's title, which by the way has a double meaning, will make you think one thing then at that pivotal moment you realize all you first thought is all wrong.

Summary: David is a believable character, but Lily?
Review: The hero of the story, David, is a well developed and believable character, and it was interesting to read about him. Lily, on the other hand, plays a major role in the story, and her character is not believable. Too sensational, lurid - just because a book is aimed at young adults doesn't mean it can be so hokey. The ending, likewise, is so unbelievable that I kept waiting (in the final pages) to read that it had not really happened, that it was someone's dream... no such luck. There is a bit of the ghost or spirit of Lily's sister Kathy in the attic bedroom where David lives, but this isn't a ghost story; it's a thriller, a suspense novel. I think that future books by this author will be better. Much of it was very well written, and the characters were well developed.
