Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Good for anyone! Review: This book is absolutely fantastic! In Charmed Life, you would never suspect the ending. The other reviews tell about the story, so I'll tell you what I think! I may be only eleven, but I must say this book keeps you on the edge of your seat. In the Lives of Christopher Chant, it tells about the Chrestomanci from the first story, where Christopher can spiritually travel to places he called 'Anywheres' and I suspected the ending when I was around the middle/end. If you pay attention, you could guess it. I love this book! I'll be sure to read other books by Diana. The second one is great, too.

Rating: Summary: Enchanting Review: Since I bought this book, I haven't been able to put it down. I have probably read it at least thirty times since last July. The book is made up of two previously published novels featuring the nine-lived enchanter Chrestomanci, who controls the use of magic in his alternate fantasy world. The first book tells of Cat Chant and his sister Gwendolen. They were sent to live with Chrestomanci after their parents died in a boating accident. Gwendolen is a witch, and figures that Chrestomanci admires her talent. But when it turns out he doesn't, Gwendolen wants to take revenge. When her schemes fail, she resorts to running away to a differant fantasy world, leaving Cat to deal with the double that she left behind and a tangle of other problems. This book is so complicated and full of surprising twists and turns, you have to read it for yourself. There is a lot more to it than I said here. The second book takes you back to tell about Chrestomanci's childhood, when he was just plain old Christopher Chant. He has the power to travel to alternate worlds, and can even bring back objects from them. When his Uncle Ralph finds out, he begins to exploit Christopher, and gets him involved with a ring of inter-world thieves. Then things get even more tricky when it is discovered that Christopher is a nine-lived enchanter who must become the next Chrestomanci. Add trying to save a foreign Goddess from being killed so she can go to boarding school, defeating his Uncle, and adjusting to living in Chrestomanci castle, and you get some, but not all, of this fascinating book. Both of these books are highly reccommended. I think they are really good books for advanced readers who can understand all the interconnected elements and complicated plots. Both of these books are impossible to describe and praise at a level they deserve, so you have to read them for yourself and see. They are classics. Everybody should read them!

Rating: Summary: A Very Charmed Book Review: I liked this book much better than Harry Potter, there were so many twist, turns, and surprises. I could not put this book down for a second without being forced. The first part of the book is about Cat and his sister Gwendolen. Gwendolen is a very powerful witch, while Cat can't turn buttons into gold. His cunniving sister writes a letter to the most powerful enchanter, the Chestomani to take them in after their parents die in a boating accident. After being denied to practice witchcraft, Gwendolen declares war on the Chrestomanci unleashing horrible pranks. After Gwendolen can't stand living there any more she decides to jump into another world, forcing a replacement to take her place from another world. Cat has to fix the mess she left behind, while finding out some secrets of his own. The second book which was my favorite is about Chritopher, a boy who can travel to different worlds. He is know as a sprit traveler, as his greedy uncle soon finds out and use him to collect illegal merchandise from the other worlds. Throught his journey he meets a goddess, finds his weaknesses, and dies several times.
Rating: Summary: The book review for The Chronicle of Chrestomanci Review: This story: The Chronicle of Chrestomanci; was quite interesting from the start. It was about a young boy named Cat and his sister named Gwendolen. Both their parents died of an accident but Gwendolen seemed to have had the gift of witchcraft. An old woman who was quite fond of wizardry and knew the family well, took the two kids in. Surprisingly, Cat's father recieved three letters from Chrestomanci, who was, apparently a very important man. The man graciously took the two kids under his care and took them to his castle, but also banned Gwendolen from taking witchcraft lessons, in fear of Gwendolen misusing them. That, predictably, erupted disruptions evrywhere from around the household. It triggered up a lot of dis turbing events until the people found out that Cat also had a few powers of his own, and those powers of which were quite similar to Chrestomanci's. I liked and disliked this story. Although it was quite insightful with twists and turns in the plot, it resembled almost the same problems encountered in the other wizardry stories. The main character Cat was not all that specially described in the beginning of the book. He became more interesting almost after the half of the story. They were also too many extra characters, which resulted in not remembering each character as who they were or what they did. Out of a rating from one through ten, I would give the story a seven,. which is not a bad score at all. All I am saying is that there is just some room for improvement. My favorite part of the book ws, the problems. Just like any other reader reading any other story would think, the most important part of a story is the problem. The beginning would be good but if your problem isn't as quite good, your book is basically not going to be on the New York Times best sellers' list. This story's problem was When Gwendolen was banned from her lessons becauise of her misuses, she was a bit ticked off. Since she was mad, She Caused serious and severe problems around the household. She ruined a huge, huge lawn out front, turned a maid into a toad, and even turned Cat into a flaming human torch. She even had her powers taken away and still, she found some way to stick up with her powers. In my opinion I think Cat will master the art of wizardry and prevent his sister from taking control of everything, which can take a very long time.
Rating: Summary: Read this! Review: If you thought harry potter was good you havn't seen nothing yet. The Chonicles of Chestomanci are ten times better. Crestomanci is the person who keeps the balence between all the worlds. He is an enchanter. The stories are about how chestomanci overcomes the misuse of magic with the help of some kids. If you havn't already read this you should!
Rating: Summary: I love this book! Review: This book is so great! I will definately read more of her books! The story is about a boy and his sister. After their parents died, They went to another womens house, and then to the Chrestomanci's house. I can't tell you what happens next, but I assure you, you'll love it!
Rating: Summary: A great story Review: This book was great. The book contains the first two stories in the Chrestomanci series, so I will write about both stories. The one thing that is consistant throughout all the stories of the Chrestomanci series is the concept of multiple worlds. The reasoning is that when a big event, such as a battle, happens, the event can go two ways, either one side wins or the other side wins. When this event occurs, the world breaks off into two worlds, where in one world, one side won and in the other world, the other side won. Diana Jones uses this as a base for many plots and interesting stories in the Chrestomanci series. Chrestomanci is the ruler of making sure that magic is used properly in his world and the title of Chrestomanci is a very strong title, one requirement is that the person must have nine lives rather than the usual one life. In "Charmed Life", the main character Eric (or Cat, Eric's nickname), becomes an orphan with his sister when his parents drown in a boat accident. Cat is able to stay alive because he holds on to his sister, Gwendolen. Gwendolen was kept alive when everyone else died on the boat because she is a witch. Cat and Gwendolen go and live with a kind old lady who is willing to let them live with her. Gwendolen has great magical talent and so she is given magic lessons. Cat has no magic at all and Gwendolen makes Cat's life unpleasant. However, one thing that Cat has over his sister is that he has nine lives which is very important. Suddenly, Chrestomanci shows up and they are both invited to live in his castle, they accept and so they move in to live there. Unfortunately for Gwendolen, Chrestomanci won't let her study magic and so she wages her own war on him. Later, a frustrated Gwendolen moves to another parallel world a double takes her place in Cat's world. Now, Cat and Gwendolen's double must keep it a secret that Gwendolen has left and also how to save Chrestomanci and the rest of the magical world from Gwendolen and some other evil witches who try to take over. "The Lives of Christoper Chant" is not about Cat but rather it is about the childhood of the Chrestomanci in "Charmed Life", so the book takes place some many years before "Charmed Life". Christopher Chant is a spirit traveler. He is able to to travel to the other worlds I talked above in the first paragraph of the review. What is even more special is that he is able to take back things from other worlds to his world where as nobody before could do such a thing. Christoper didn't realize this was a gift but thought that these were dreams when he went to the other worlds because he could only go there once he fell asleep. Unfortunately for Christoper, his Uncle Ralph, whom he admires greatly, finds a way to exploit Christopher's gift by making him take expensive and illegal items from other worlds into his own. While Christopher lives in Chrestomanci's castle doing this, Chrestomanci at the same time is trying to find the smugglers who are bringing this stuff into their world. I love the ending where many elements of the story and other side plots merge in to one. These were two great stories and I would recommend them to anyone, I loved them so much that I bought volume two of the Chrestomanci series and read those stories as well.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book! Review: This book is expertly written and keeps readers in suspense all of the time. It's not a story that keeps you waiting for something exciting to happen, Diana Wynne Jones brings it on right away.
