Summary: Best Holocaust Story
Review: I needed to read this book for a required summer reading assignment, and might I say that it was extraordinary! The way Han Nolan describes the life in the ghetto and how he visualizes people stepping over piles of people because the extra energy to avoid them and travel around is "enery wasted" was unbelievable. I especially liked the ending where the entire story was tied up with the fact that Hilary was talked to elderly Chana in the beginning with such hatred, yet with such belonging and care at the end. It is an awesome story to read, and by far the best Holocaust book and an experience of a lifetime.

Summary: Fabulous! The Best Book I Have Read In A Long Time!!!
Review: This book really made me feel compeled to understand other peoples views on a different level. I learned so much about the history of WWII in the eyes of the Jews. This book should have been nominated for a newberry award. To feel as if I was right in the action and struggle of the Jewish peoples lives made me feel how they felt and made me see how what happened during this time was very wrong. There are really no words that I can expound that would make you, the audience, feel the way I feel about this book. If you are interested in the histroy of the wars that have gone on this is a book that you should deffinitly read. But to beware that in the begining it starts out slow and may take a turn where you think it becomes a little dumb, but bare with it because it is a wonderful book that I know I will come back to read just to feel the way I felt when I was done. Over Come With Happyness and Emotion Of Sorts!

Summary: If I Should Die Before I Wake by Han Nolan
Review: This has become one of my favorite books. Sixteen year old Hilary Burke is very convincing as an Aryan Warrior who hates Jews. You can feel the anger and emotion that is inside her through her words, thoughts, and actions. It is easy to imagine her committing some of the horrible acts described in the book. After Hilary is involved in near fatal motorcycle crash, she begins to experience the memories of Chana, a Holocaust survivor and in the bed next to Hilary. Through Chana, Hilary relives what it was like to live in the Lodz ghetto and in Aushwitz. She experiences all the horror and pain during this time. Plagued with these memories of huger, exhaustion, and terror, Hilary begins to regret her past actions and the hate begins to be replaced with compassion.

Hilary's experiences as Chana are graphically and vividly portrayed. The story is deeply disturbing and moving. Any one who doesn't think the Holocaust could happen again should read what Hilary and her Aryan friends do to Jews and how much hate they possess. Also, the descriptions of life in the ghetto and concentration camps will leave you horrified at the cruelty inflected upon innocent people.

Summary: The BEST Holocaust book EVER!!!!!
Review: This book is the best book I've ever read concerning the holocaust. From the first page I was hooked on this book. I couldn't put it down and to be honest I was sad when it was done! I felt like I was there with Hilary/Chana, the experience felt so real. I recommend this book to EVERYONE especially people who are interested in the holocaust. Han Nolan wrote with such description it seems like she lived through the experience herself. I LOVE IT! It's a must BUY!!!!!

Summary: If i Should die Before i Wake
Review: If i Should Die Before i Wake is a Holocaust book. It's a great book but it can be a little confusing at first. It can be confusing because the author switches on and off telling about two girls' lives. Hilary is a German girl in her mid-teens. She's a Neonazi. Then while riding with her boy friend on his motorcycle they crash. Hilary is seriously injured and is sent to a Jewish hospital, where she lies unconscious. In the hospital bed next to Hilary is Chana, an older woman. She's Jewish and went through a concentration camp and survived. Hilary then has flashbacks of Chana's life. (flashbacks like she is Chana) This experience could change her life and veiws forever. A scene in the book that stuck out in my mind is when Chana's father stops working to rest. The Nazi's drape him over a tree limb and taunt him. Chana is walking by from her day at work for the Nazi's when she sees her father. She offers to do his work so he can rest. The Nazi's agree. Chana is in the middle of doing her father's work when she hears a shot. The Nazi's shot her father dispite her efforts.

Summary: My New Favorite Book
Review: "If I Should Die Before I Wake" is now by far my favorite book. It is a sentimental story about a 16-year-old neo-nazi named Hilary and how her life crosses paths with the life of a young Jewish girl living in Europe during World War I named Chana. When Hilary gets in a car accident with her boyfriend Brad she finds herself in a coma at a Jewish hospital. As she struggles for her life she passes over from the views of her life to Chana's. As Chana, Hilary sees the many horrible and emotionally terrorizing things that the Nazis did to the Jews. Many of Chana's family members and friends are killed. This book gives a very descriptive, mind altering explanation of the concentration camps and the brutal deaths of the Jews. After seeing this Hilary realizes how wrong the Nazis were and changes her views about Jews. This book was very passionate and I recommend it for anyone who likes a good tearjerker because this book will definetly make you cry. Han Nolan did an excellent job of portraying the realities of the Holocaust.

Summary: Only the Good "Die" Young
Review: "If I Should Die Before I Wake" is not, I repeat NOT, a book on praying and religion. It is, instead, a character study on how society treats different subject matters and how they react to them, physically and mentally. It is truly astounding that such a book as this was written, for it takes pure genius to come up with a story as provocative, propelling, and equally appealing as this.

Hilary Burke, a 16-year-old neo-Nazi, has a bloodlust for the extermination of Jews, among other ethnic groups. She is so determined to carry out Hitler's Final Solution that she belongs to the local neo-Nazi brigade, the Aryan Warriors. (That groups such as these still exist in our world today makes me sick, wondering how people couldn't understand that we are all free to have our own beliefs, opinions, and whatnot without having to fear for our lives.) One day, while riding on a motorcyle with her also-neo-Nazi boyfriend Brad, she finds herself the victim of an accident, where she ends up in a hospital, asleep in a coma. This is when things become surreal. Hilary becomes a girl named Chana, who is apparently living during World War II in war-stricken Europe. Not only is Hilary trapped in this nightmarish situation, she is also Jewish. We can only go with the inevitability that Hilary/Chana will end up in a concentration camp and be forced to deal with the everyday struggles people in those situations faced back then.

The true test of this book doesn't come for Hilary/Chana. It comes for the readers. To understand Hilary/Chana's dilemma, the reader must reevaluate their understanding of what was going on at the time. Throughout the reading of this book, the reader will also find themselves reevaluating their current lifestyles, comparing them to that of the unmerciful Hilary.

This book is one of the best books ever written. It takes a great deal of understanding to realize the power this book can put on oneself. If you are in the mood to read something truly remarkable, stunning, and all-around fascinating, read "If I Should Die Before I Wake." It is a choice you will not regret.

Summary: 5 stars is not enough!
Review: Han Nolan has a very gifted way in writing If i should die before i wake. Im not going to summarize this book because so many people have done that already but i will say this: this book is the greatest book i have read on this topic since daniels story. The author lets one live in Chana's shoes and she does it in such a unique way....As the mood of the book changes so does the readers point of veiw. after reading this novel for me it gave life a new meaning. Each breath i took meant more than ever before and every time i say "im hungry" i think of those who were starving during the holocaust(sp). The author of this book has let us remember what was of the past and taught us never ever to forget. If the young adults that read this book do not feel as i do it is ok. But atleast some1 has written a book to let us not to forget about this horrible time in our world! We must teach our kids and them teach theirs so that our world NEVER forgets. Nolan has let the reader hear the crys for help and reminded us that life could be worste. I was filled with sorrow after reading this book and questions with answers that might never be revealed such as why the jews? In the intro. the author dedicates the novel to family and then says " and to 6 million jews whose faces i never knew but whose voice i some how heard" i am greatful that she too has let us hear their voice. This book deserves every price to be given and the authors talent should not go unknown. This book doesn't deserve 5 stars it deserves the 6 million starts of david that died along with the people whom stood with pride and wore their star keeping faith and dieing as a result in the holocaust....WE MUST NEVER FORGET!
