Summary: Excellent Read
Review: After reading the first review of this book I had to have my own say. If you have ever read anything written by Beverly Jenkins you will LOVE this book. Although there is no "sex" in Belle and the Beau but she takes you there and your like....dayam keep going. After meeting her in a book signing in Dallas, I learned that before I read the book that reading this will help young girls understand how men are suppose to treat young ladies and that is with RESPECT.

After I read the book, the light did go off in my head. This was a much need book because young ladies today do not know how they are suppose to be treated. Belle and the Beau was not written to focus on slavery because according to Beverly "slavery is not romantic". I think it was great to see how people especially black people treated each other.... with love, respect and they looked after each other.

So ladies and gentlemen give Beverly your support and BUY Belle and the Beau.....you will love it!!!! Dont forget to pick up her other novels they are the BOMB!!!!

Summary: Excellent Historical Detail
Review: Avon True Romance presents Harlequin-style fare: beautiful people fall in love at first sight and then must overcome some conflict to be together, the conflict usually being that one of them already has a significant other. In this series, the beautiful people happen to be young adults.
In Belle and the Beau, a prominent black family takes in a fugitive slave girl who falls for their oldest son, who is already practically engaged to fast Francine. Details about the abolition movement in the United States are neatly woven throughout the story as the Best family educate Belle about the Underground Railroad, Frederick Douglass, and anti-slavery conventions. She even learns to read. Jenkins really presents an intelligent romance with accurate historical details and fleshed out characters.
The stories are predictable, sweet and innocent, but the writing is solid, the covers attractive and the historical details accurate. I don't think any teens will pick these up if they are already avid fans of adult series romance, but younger teens may find them appealing and won't find any objectionable material -- perhaps to their dismay.

Summary: An excellent book
Review: Being a long-time fan of young adult historical romance novels long past the age of my original infatuation with the sub-genre, I was delighted to find Avon's new series. I won't go over the plot again for you, but I'll tell you what I liked: the charachters were well-drawn, and it was educational without feeling like a schoolbook... I was simply delighted by the whole thing - the dialogue sounded real, and I often found myself laughing out loud, esp. with Jojo and Mrs. Best. I really couldn't put the book down, and would highly reccommend this to all fans of Sunfire, American Dreams, etc.

Summary: A charming historical romance for teenage girls.
Review: Belle has lived all her sixteen years in slavery. As a young girl she lost her mother, who was sold away. Her father has decided that he wants a better life for himself and his daughter, so they flee Kentucky, hoping to reach freedom in Canada. But the two are separated, and Belle finds herself lost and alone in Michigan. She is found by the side of the road by Daniel and Josephine Best, the children of free black parents who operate a station on the Underground Railroad. Belle finds herself taken in by the Bests, being treated like a member of the family. But while enjoying her newfound freedom, she also longs for news of her father. And though she doesn't mean to, Belle finds herself falling in love with Daniel, even though he is already engaged to another. Can they ever be together, and will Belle ever find her father again? I highly recommend this book to teenage girls who enjoy historical romances.

Summary: Great historical novel
Review: Belle is a slave. She lost her mother and all she has is her father. When her father comes up with the idea to flee to Kentucky Belle agrees. But soon the two are separated and Bellw feels very afraid. She might be free, but she is alone and lost. She has nowhere to go until a great family, the Bests, find her at the side of the road and take her in. It turns out the Bests are free people who help in the Underground Railroad. Belle finds herself very attracted to the Best's son Daniel. However she knows it will hardly be right for them to be together for Daniel is engaged to be married.

Daniel on the other hand has everything he wants and is destined for greatness. He has a great finacee who is quite the spoiled brat. However he finds himself falling in love with the young poor girl they rescued by the side of the road. Will Belle and Daniel ever be together?

Review: Excellent young adult novel for an introduction into historical fiction. I have read all of Beverly Jenkins books. I would recommend this book for teens ages 15 - adults. Just enough history intertwined with fiction for fast enjoyble reading.

Summary: Great Book
Review: I loved this book! It is so far my favorite of the Avon True Romance series. The author does a really good job of not rushing the plot of the story, making it all the more believable and better.
Belle Palmer came North not knowing what she would find and found more than she could have ever though possible. She finds friends and enemies, freedom to do what she pleases, and the chance to make something of herself, but there are questions still that she wonders about, like her father? and Daniel?
Daniel has everything about his life figured out, until he discovers that the runaway he found is turning into a vibrant young woman and is turning his head in more way than one. He knows that she is right for him deep down and does not want to admit it because of his attachment with Francine. He knows what his heart is telling him to do.... the question is will he follow it?
This book is well worth the read!

Review: I really enjoyed Ms. Jenkins first teen book. I have to admit I wasn't sure how I was going to enjoy this book but it turn out to me really good. I have told my friends it is a book that their young daughters and sons should read. Belle and Daniel love story was really sweet. Belle a young girl that just gained her freedom along in the world comes upon the Best family who are free. Daniel is a serious young man that has a passion for fighting for freedom. It was exciting getting to see that the two young people feel in love the way the did. I would love to know that more young woman and man are like Belle and Daniel. There love was so PURE. Ms. Jenkins I look forward to your next teen book. I hope and pray that they will help the world young people of today.
