Rating: Summary: Awesome Book! Review: If you start out not liking this book, KEEP READING!!!!!!!! IT GETS O SO MUCH BETTER AS YOU READ!!!!!!!Because the plot gets more complex and exiting!
Rating: Summary: Realistic fairy tales Review: Let's face it, in today's world children grow up with all types of disfunctional family situations. This book identifies with those children who do not grow up with a perfect life - and identifies with the need in all those children to escape their life for a little while. Much like the Harry Potter stories, the main character of this book does not have a perfect life but extraordinary events will bring out the best in him. I give it 4 stars only because the ending was tied up just a little too neatly and fast. I'm looking forward to the next book (and suggested by the ending!)
Rating: Summary: Eoin Colfer was right . . . Review: On the back cover of this wonderful read is heady praise from Eoin Colfer (author of Artemis Fowl):"I meant to read this book at my leisure; I ended up missing two meals and an important phone call..." I can say that what was to be a casual read over the next few weeks has ended with me writing my first ever review after turning the last page. Having purchased the book this afternoon I can attest (at 5am today) that this is one of those rare gems that truly can't be put down until its conclusion. If you're looking for adventure, mystery and even a few moments of suspense, Faerie Wars packs them all in with an ease and grace that leaves you hungry for a sequel.
Rating: Summary: What FUN!!! Review: Overall, this book entails a story that any fantasy fan would enjoy. Be assured to find a more mature side to this book, with many different sub stories along side the main one. If you like adventures, this book will provide you with everything you want.
Rating: Summary: inappropriate for children Review: Recently someone I know bought this for their child. She always reads through books before giving them to her kid to read, and found this one completely inappropriate for the age-group.
At one part the little boy in the story askes his father if he is having an affair with a lady and the father says, "No, your mother is."
In another part, one of the other characters conjures up a demon with an animal sacrifice and the demon asks for a human sacrifice.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful tale Review: This book is a total fast paced adventure stretching three different realms. I completely enjoyed the rich development of the plot and the characters. I can not wait for the Purple Emperor to come out; I'm looking forward to the further adventures of Harry, Holly Blue, and all the other characters.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: THIS BOOK IS THE BEST BOOK THAT I HAVE EVER READ!!! It is so captivating, and luring you to read on to the next chapter. I will die if there is not a sequel to this book.
Rating: Summary: I can't write a whole review on a bad book Review: This fantasy book has probably the most misleading title a book could have. The first 17/18 of the book were all about a faerie prince trying to stop a glue factory, while trying to get out of the human world and into his own. Even that last 1/18 of story barely comes close to touching on the (impending) war. The story is split three ways, which makes it hard to feel any suspense whatsoever. The cliffhangers feel more like annoying stops in the story. The book is fairly well written, keeping you craving more. I couldn't stop reading (mainly because I was waiting for the war). Although it was recommend from a couple of big newspapers, I felt it was mediocre. The writing seemed dumbed down for kids, along with the plot, albeit, not as much.
Rating: Summary: Physically Flawed Copy Received Review: While I have no doubt this book lives up to all the excellent reviews already posted, I have to mention that the copy I received was physically flawed: it skips from page 144 to page 177, then returns to page 177 after page 208. Just a word to the wise to check your copy when you receive it so that you can return it if need be before you mark in it or break the binding to read it.
Rating: Summary: Faerie Wars... Review: Wow, I loved this book, I was on a vacation in Texas, and instead of doing a million other things tourists generally do I sat in the Hotel and read this book. i can't wait for a sequel. I am not a very big reader, but I have experienced a good share of authors. Sofar herbie Brennen tops my list up along with JK Rowling,Diane Wynne Jones and Tamora Pierce. All I can say is experience it yourself. Happy Reading!
