Rating: Summary: Bewitching story. Review: I have to admit, the beginning is a bit boring, but when you get to the middle of the book and the story begins to unfold, this book will amaze you. Liz Berry, the author, did a wonderful job writing "The China Garden." It had all the elements to make a story great. It had adventure, romance, and mystery. I especially loved reading about Clare and Mark's relationship. It makes you want to have a guy like Mark yourself. The funny things they did made me smile all day thinking about it. "The China Garden" also had a lot of twists that had me surprised. I would recomend this book, but not to anyone under the age of 13. Some parts are unsuitable for younger kids. Well, to sum it all up, buy this book! If your a person who doesn't like to read, this book will change your mind. It had me staying up on a school night to try to finish.

Rating: Summary: Great Mystery Review: Awesome mystery that keeps you reading on and wanting to learn more. I found that I could not put it down after the first few pages. Even though the story is set in England, so things are a bit confusing at first, Clare becomes a character whose story you are totally involved in. If you like mystery, suspense, and a wierd ending, I would recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: terrific Review: Set in a quiet, secretive English town, The China Garden is a story based on people's relationships and feelings towards each other: Clare's love for Mark and vice versa, strong, feminist Frances's and controllably timid Clare's rocky, bittersweet relationship, Mr. Aylward's eccentricity towards Frances and Frances's stiffness towards him, and the strangely concealed bond between Frances, Brandon, and Vivien. Through all these emotions, a story rises- the crisis at Ravensmere, two different love stories in different eras, and the uncovering of dark secrets that stayed dormant for twenty years. Clare is a nice girl, whom I think is a rather dependent, insecure, weak character that "accidentally" meets and falls for biker Mark, who's independent, reckless, and bold. Clare tries to think their relationship is just a summer fling, knowing it was practically impossible to have a future with him. Things get complicated, though, when Clare is entangled deeper and deeper into Ravensmere's mystery and history. Frances returns to a hurtful past when she reappears in Ravensmere to tend ailing Mr. Aylward. Trying to give her daughter, Clare, a chance at a normal life, Frances desperately lies and deceives, knowing all too well that her efforts would be wasted because no one's strong enough to change an already fixed fate... Mr. Aylward, the master of Ravensmere, knows that Clare is the one. But how is she to do her job when time's running out, there's too much to do, and many lives are on the balance? All the loose strings are deftly tied to make a surprising conclusion, and Ms. Barry is able to create an awesome story.
Rating: Summary: Amazing story! Review: I found this book while browsing for something new and exciting to read. Fascinated by the recent Harry Potter series, I found several book in the fantasy section. This one in particular had a fascinating story line and wonderful characters. Claire, a native of London chooses to go with her mother to Ravensmere before leaving for university. What she finds is that tragedy tore her mother away from this place, hurt feelings and unforgivable acts kept her away for many years, but duty and love prevailed to bring her back. The whole place is so absorbed with the events of long ago and hurts that had never been healed, that they doesn't realize how much they are hurting their future and the future of the beautiful place in which they live. Fantasy, mythology, magic, and love weave this into a perfect story, fascinating for readers of all ages.
Rating: Summary: Summer Solstice Review: If Liz Berry paints as well as she writes I'd love to see her work. This book has a lot more historical content than Easy Connections or Easy Freedom (see review) but they all equally draw you in to the labryrinth of riddles and mysteries, here in a place called Ravensmere and before in the world of rock and art. For all Liz Berry fans and then some....
Rating: Summary: A wonderful piece of fiction Review: I have been looking for a book this good for a long time. I couldn't put this one down. I actually sat down and read it all the way through. Berry makes everything seem so real, you can't help but wonder if there is a Ravensmere buried deep in the heart of England...
