Rating: Summary: Tamming the Star Runner Review: I really didn't hate the book nor enjoy it as much as some other S.E. Hinton books. I was excpecting it to be very good because I loved the outsiders. In the book Travis the main character is a trobble maker who gets no breaks. He wants to be a writter but by his appearence you couldn't tell that he was able to write. His step father and him don't get along so Travis spent a while in Juvinille detetion for attempt of murder. Then goes to stay with his uncle. The story is very believable so that makes it a little bit better. But it was still hard to follow. The best part of the book is when Travis throughs Casey against the wall and kisses her. I think it was vry romantic and says alot without any words. Although some people would have taken it as a form of rape. The worst part of the book is when Travis feels alone in the world because his mother chose her husband over him and his uncle wants him to leave. The characters were well done and nicely described. You could imagine what they looed like and how they felt. Like having an imaginery friend. You could feel their pain and see their story. She also did a fabulous job on the conflict in the story. Most people can relate to the book in one way or another. Travis is like many teens a troublemaker, and no one will help him.
Rating: Summary: Taming the Star Runner Review: I think that Taming the Star Runner was a good book. I like the way Travis acted. He acted like he was cool. I think you should read this book because it's just like a normal kid's life. It's about a kid that gets in trouble with his family and, has to go live with his uncle. He has too get use to living in the country and dose not fit in. He meets a lot of new friends and meets new people. So I think you should read it because a lot of exiting things happen, and it's a good book.

Rating: Summary: What I thought of Taming the Star Runner Review: I thought that Taming the Star Runner was an excellent book. It was about a troubled youth who tried to kill his step-father and then ended up having to go live with his uncle Ken in the country. Travis had to leave his friends behind and move to a new place where he didn't have many friends. Travis got a job working as a stable hand and that's where he first laid eyes on the Star Runner.

Rating: Summary: The book was the best i have ever read. Review: If i had to choose a rating 1-10 for Taming The Star Runner it would be a perfect 10.I would have always wanted to live on a farm. I thought this book had a lot of emossional ups and downs. i like the way a bad, non-emossional, punk, turns to a caring, emossional, young man. There was a little of everything in it. there was love, anger, sadness, and happiness. It gave me a good lesson on drinking and the consequences of drinking. It shows me really what a bad step-dad is like. My step-dad is no where near as bad as Stan is. It taught me to choose the right group of friends and to stay out of trouble. It was the best book i have ever read.

Rating: Summary: Is it possible for an uncontrollable teen to be tamed? Review: In a flash, a bad ... kid turned into a well-respected young man. The story takes place in only a matter of a couple of weeks. Back in his old school, he had his own gang that drank beer, vandalized broken down houses, and messed around with girls every night. Also, he could never seem to get along with his stepfather. With aspects and character traits such as these, one can assume that this person leads quite a disorderly and unruly life. Normally, I'm not an enthusiastic reader, but this book changed my view on reading novels. I had a great time reading through each new scene Taming the Star Runner by S.E. Hinton. The author of this book was trying to get an exceptionally strong message across to readers. Essentially, she says certain aspects of life are just not meant to be "toyed" with. These items can range from everything to people and animals to machinery and rules. If rules get fooled around with, everything would be in complete chaos. For instance, what if someday someone didn't feel like stopping at a red light, and he just decided to go right through without even thinking about looking to the left and right. This flippant action could cause some unsmiling damage. Stoplights are posted for one cardinal intention. They are not to be questioned or fooled with, but to be followed. For the most part, it is the same way with this young boy who comes from the city. Travis was fine when he was out with his friends, participating in activities he enjoyed and talking about subjects which concentrated primarily on himself or other closely related topics such as his family or his hobbies. As soon as he relocated to his Uncle's ranch and lost all of his friends, everything went downhill. His Uncle wanted him to stop drinking and be home each night by a certain time. This may not seem like a big deal to you and me, yet this was an unbelievably horrendous request to be asked of this young hero. Travis has his own ways, and he was not about to start changing them for some guy he had known for only days. He knew how things should and should not "operate." Many people would frown upon a kid like Travis, but if the time was taken to understand him and get to know him, I think they'd feel differently. Clearly, I enjoyed this book very much. I would recommend this book to any young teen, male or female, who gets in trouble, and needs to find a different route to take. With that being said, I'd prefer reading other books by this very same author in the future. This novel has really encouraged me to widen my reading selection and be more open to taking and applying constructive suggestions in my writing assignments. Once again, reading this book has been time well spent for me, and I have high hopes that others will have the similar judgment.
