Summary: keeps the reader on edge
Review: The power of journaling is demonstrated here, along with the power of trust. Tish trusts that her teacher won't read the journal, even though the reader wishes she would. As a teacher, I recommend it. Any teen with problems can relate to the character, and hopefully learn to ask for help.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A Easy and Great Read
Review: This book is a very touching book about a girl who has problems at home but does not want to tell anyone. One day her mother runs away and she is left to take care of her brother. Sooner or later, things become to much. She has to trust her teacher to take care of things, but can she trust another adult when her own parents abanded her?

Summary: Don?t you dare read this Mrs.Dunphrey
Review: This book is really good. Haddix has got to be one of the best authors ever. This book is very realistic to a real diary.

Tish faces issues that a girl her age shouldn't have to face. She takes up a responsibility that she shouldn't have until she's much, much older. But she thinks she can handle it all on her own, and she won't let any of her friends or teacher's know what's up.

This is a compelling novel. It's very short, but definately worth reading. I've recommended it to all of my friends. It's a GREAT book.

Summary: Don't You Dare Read This Mrs. Dunphrey
Review: This book was not good, at all. It was better it was great!!! Before I started the book I thought I would put it down after a few chapters but... as I kept getting farther and farther into the book I realized it was great. I could not even put it down, I never wanted the book to end. When you read this book it makes you think, think about how great full your life really is and what it would be like if you lived in the characters passion, a young girl named Tish whose mother leaves to go find her husband that her motherleaves Tish and her younger brother alone, Tish is stuck taking care of him by her self, with no money and hardly getting by. This book is so touching and is a slight tearjerker it also has a lot of drama, but that is what made the book almost glued to my hands as I read it, and in my opinion makes the book such a great book. I would recommend this book to anyone who has not read something great liek this book and someone who likes books like this, but even if you don't, I have a feeling you will like this book anyways. So read this book if you don't you might not know it now... but you are really, really going to miss out on a wonderful book!!!

Summary: THIS BOOK WAS REALLY GOOD...
Review: This book was really good. In the beginning Tish Bonner resented the fact that her teacher, Miss Dunphrey, assigned journal writing to the class. She did not trust her teacher, even though Miss Dunphrey said she would not read any entries that were marked "DONT READ THIS". I connected to this book because whenever i had a diary my sisiters would either try to get into it or read it. So I felt the same way as Tish did with her teacher. I thought it was kind of sneaky of Tish that she always tried to test the teacher. I liked the book a lot, but in some parts Tish got in a bad mood.

Summary: One Of My Favorites!
Review: This book was so Awesome. It's such a page turner you'll finish the book before you know it. When Mrs. Dunphrey announces that the class will start their own journal. Tish Bonner feels she has nothing to write about. When she does finally write she writes about her friends, school, and family issues. Which she soon writes "Don't You Dare Read This Mrs. Dunphrey" on all her journal entries. When she finally lets Mrs. Dunphrey read one. Tish feels 90% better at the end. I like the story because it's so descriptive. Margaret knows her characters!

Summary: Read On.. If You Dare
Review: This book, tragic, underrated and moving, is the English assignment for the lead character. An abusive father who disappeared years ago suddenly reappears, causing pain and emotional anguish for Trish. Shortly afterwards, both her parents disappear, leaving her alone with no money to take care of her younger brother or herself. Written at a point in time when big hair and tight jeans were the worst of teenage stressers, this book deals with family abandonment and finally finding the power to cry for help.

"Don't You DARE Read This, Mrs. Dunphrey" exposes the other side of the rainbow, and is an interesting read the entire time! You've gotta try this book.

Summary: Do Read This!
Review: This is a story of how a seventeen year old girl deals with the neglect of her parents. Her dad is in and out of her life and her mother stays very depressed and eventually abandons the family. Tish takes full responsibility of caring for her little brother, Matt. Her life becomes extremely hard to handle, and she finds an emotional outlet through journal writing, a daily assignment required by her English teacher, Mrs. Dunphrey. Mrs. Dunphrey has told the students that she will not read any journal entry marked "Do not read." Tish keeps her journal faithfully, but rarely allows Mrs. Dunphrey to read it. Tish's life becomes filled with growing anxieties and she finally allows Mrs. Dunphrey to read her journal.

This story reflects many problems that teenagers with abusive parents may face. It also lets readers know there are people to turn to when dealing with a situation of this nature. We recommend this book for seventh or eighth graders. Teachers could use this book in their classroom to teach or study issues such as: neglect, abuse, depression, occupations, and family structures. These issues could be integrated when teaching Language Arts, Social Studies, Writing, Health, and Math. This is a good book for teenagers to read. It relays the importance of talking to someone when your problems become too overwhelming.

Summary: Grateful For Your Life
Review: This is a wonderful book. Now I'm not much of a book worm, but I do like to read at times. I am mainly into some horse books. But, I can get into a non horse book, if I try. My school teacher asked us to read this book. And I am glad that she introduced me to this book. After reading this book, I now realize that not everyone's life is so perfect. People have tons of problems in school, and out. And sometimes, we don't even know about it. They hide it from you. I can relate, because I myself, have a secret. But it's not like Tish's.

You can learn alot from this book. And also learn alot about yourself. My quote to you is, "Never hold yourself in. Write it down, or tell someone about your problems. Before it's to late."
Sign,
Jeanie
