Summary: Dont You Dare Read This Mrs. Dunphrey
Review: Don't You Dare Read This Mrs. Dunphrey

The book Don't You Dare Read This Mrs. Dunphrey is a really great book. I think that I liked it so much because I could really relate to it, how Tish the main character has the hardest times with her family. Except mine isn't so bad! I would recommend this book to any one who likes diary style writing. This book taught me that people have some really hard times and that we never realize what we have until it's truly gone, because I felt that's what Tish and her brother Matt were feeling when their father left them and then their mother did. They were living by themselves for a while with no one to be there for them and no one to love them! I think that if everybody were forced to read this book all of their reviews would be all positive!

Summary: Great Story for Young Adults!
Review: Don't You Dare Read This, Mrs. Dunphrey, by Margaret Peterson Haddix is a great story that any young adult should read. The story is about a brave young girl who does everything to protect her brother and mom against the cruelty of her father. At her young age, she learns to confront the problems of the real world and is forced to be responsible for her house and little brother. She is put in a situation where she can't tell her secrets to anyone, the only option she has is to let everything out on a journal. She shares her every thought, plan, and reality with the journal she had to turn in to her teacher. Sweat and chills would go through her body every time she had to turn in her special journal; her journal of secrets. But in the end she and her little brother were able to survive the harsh conditions they went through and their lives made a sudden change that led them to happiness; for once. I learned a lot from this harsh situation, and by the way Margaret sequences the events it makes it an exciting story that you don't want to stop reading.

Summary: Familar
Review: Don't You Dare Read This, Mrs. Dunphrey, by Margaret Peterson Haddix, was kind of boring at first. It didn't really grab my attention, but then I got past the first page and it suddenly got better. I started reading it and it pulled me in. It reminded me of my life. Tish Bonner is 16, and has to deal with some of the same things I do in my real life. This book just interested me; it was weird how things were happening to her and it was like I know exactly how she feels. Like she has to try to help around the house because her mom is depressed, because of things that happen between her and Tish's dad. Tish doesn't know what to do about it; she tries to be the grown up and take care of her little brother.
I thought this was a great book because it pulls you into the story and you're thinking "whoa, what would I do?" It makes you feel like you're in her place, and you know how she feels. I could really relate to this book.

Summary: Captures the teen voice completely!
Review: Haddix has written one of the most authentic books from the teen voice that I have ever read. The reader feels the mistrust of adults, the desperate need to care for little brother, and finally the desperation of having no choices left. This book is not only compelling to kids but a MUST READ FOR ADULTS/PARENTS.

Summary: A touching tale of a courageous teenager. Must read!
Review: Haddix pulls the reader deeper and deeper into a tangled web of a young girl's life. Each time, Tish Bonner writes "Don't you dare read this,Mrs. Dunphrey," in her journal, we long for Mrs. Dunphrey, Tish's teacher, to read the journal. Will Mrs. Dunphrey keep her promise and obey Tish's strict warning or will she reach out to this troubled teen? That is the question that propels us, page after page.

Summary: wonderful story of survival
Review: Haddix tells a story that immediately captures the reader's interest. Many of Tish's concerns are "typically" adolescent-- school, job, sexual harassment--as well as one that is not at all typical. Tish's mother has abandoned her and her younger brother Matt. Tish is trying desperately to do the child-rearing that her mother should be doing. When her English teacher assigns a journal, Tish is sure she won't write at all, but once she starts, she finds writing cathartic, especially since Mrs. Dunphrey keeps her word and doesn't actually read anything that the girl tells her not to read. A totally happy ending would be unrealistic, but there is hope that Tish and Matt will have a better life.

A great read that will open your eyes to the hardships of a not so ordinary teenager.

Summary: Problems among the teenage society
Review: I believe the theme of the book relates to many young people today. Many conflicts througout the book show how teens may percieve things and find solutions to their everyday problems. Whether it be shoplifting or child neglection, this book has it all. I would recommend this book to anyone who is going through a tough time and wants ideas on how to deal with their problems, or anyone who wants to just read a good book.

Summary: Good Tish!
Review: I gave this book 5 stars because it was written very descriptive and had a good plot in the book. Margaret described her characters and their attitudes very good. Her characters act the same way any other child/adult would act. Good job Margaret Haddix!!!

Summary: Great Book!!
Review: I really liked this book because it was like a journal. I could almost relate to what was happening to Tish. I admired how she was willing to do anything just to support her brother as well as herself. I think that everybody should read this book.

Summary: DO read this.....
Review: I recently read Don't You DARE Read this Mrs. Dunphrey a few weeks ago. I thought this was a sad, yet thrilling book telling a young girl's (Tish) struggle with life. Mrs. Dunphrey assigned her English class to write in a journal once a week, but if they marked the top of their entry DON'T READ THIS, then she wouldn't read the entry. Tish gives her a few tests; then begins with her life. Her abusive father left her family when she was younger, but comes back later on. Tish must soon take care of her younger brother, Matt when their mother leaves them. She has no money, except what little she makes from a local burger resturant. I highly reocommend this story to anyone who is interested in a great book!
