Summary: enthralling read
Review: The characters in Running With The Demon were very well drawn and you got interested in them and in their lives so it was great to see them again, like meeting old friends. The story in Knight of the Word packs a punch because it is about the choices we make and the obligations we have in our lives. Even if you don't care about that kind of thing in a book, its still a great story - bit of mystery, bit of action and people with special powers. Well worth a look.

Summary: It was a thrill with a satisfying ending.
Review: This is a case where the sequel outdid its predecessor. Once again, there was a build up to the climax. The ending did not disappoint me, as "Running With the Demon" did. This book fulfilled its promise and I am so glad I read it. I highly recommend it.

Summary: Great try, but it's no Running w/ the Demon
Review: Terry Brooks did nothing less than change my life with Running with the Demon so of course it was a tough act to follow. Brooks did an admirable job,but he really needs to throw the series for a loop. This one was good but the whole mystery behind the demon's identity was way too predictable. Keep in mind that I suck at mysteries.That aside, it was still a riveting read, blending faerie magic with post-apocalyptic visions, and it nothing short of visionary.

Summary: Shows how one person can make a difference
Review: This was a quick book to read for fun, but also uplifting in that we all make mistakes and have to learn to live with them and go on with our life, just as the John Ross in the story did. We have friends to help us but ultimately make decisions for ourselves. Of course, we don't have magic to deal with as the characters in the book do...do we? I enjoyed this book as "snow day" reading for fun.

Summary: To bad my NIGHT reading this book wasn't so well!
Review: Okay, Terry Brooks is a surperb author of immagination and detail. His first demon book (Running with the Demon) was a great and fantastic book of every genre. This one I think focused on too much...drama, low action, and well, frankly I think Terry Brooks could of done alot better. But yes this was a good action (little action though) and had fine suspense. Therefore I give this book 3 stars.

Summary: Good but not enough action
Review: I enjoyed and wished all Christmas to read this book. Finally I got it from the local library. I was so intrested I read it in 4 days. I was somewhat disappointed in his writing. His first had suspense, action, gore, and mystery this one had low action, low gore and way too slow. I am now waiting for Terry Brooks' 3rd demon book, hoping that this one will be the best of them all.

Summary: a huge nose dive
Review: Brooks' new series started with promise, but has taken a terribly wrong turn. This book was rife with inconsistency and poor pacing, not to mention the total lack of drama. I have had nothing but the highest praise for Brooks in the past, but this latest volume was an extreme disappointment. In addition, these characters fall short of the norm for Brooks. I found myself wondering who cared what the hell was happening in this book and, for the first time, was tempted to put this book aside unfinished. I look forward to the third and FINAL installment of this series. Perhaps the Star Wars novelization will make up for this travesty. if not, we have the rumored return of Shannara in 2000.

Summary: Entertaining. Another great series by Terry Brooks.
Review: I don't know who these "reviewers" are but they are probably the same people who think only "deep" movies like Ghandi are worthwhile. I liked this book. It was entertaining and I think it made the character of John Ross more believeable. He got tired of all the problems and failures and quit. I think everyone can relate to this. He's also taken in by someone he loves and trusts. This is also very human. I think explioting John's weaknesses in this book made it more real. I look forward to the next "Knight" book.

Summary: predictability aside...
Review: it is a little predictable, but the twists and turns are just right for this book, it's enjoyable and it develops these characters, i was only a little dissapointed with the finale, i was hoping the terrible dream would come to pass. brooks had to keep the secret of the demon from us, even if we were able to figure it out, we knew, but the characters didn't, so he couldn't blatently come and say who it was, all in all an enjoyable read, just wait for his next book, the novel of star wars episode one...

Summary: This book is a favorite!
Review: I loved both Running with the Demon and this book. Nest is one of my favorit characters in any book and I really enjoyed the story line. It's a fun read and since it's pretty short it goes fast and is exciting. I can't wait for book 3 and I hope to learn more about the creatures higher up in the ranks of the Void and the Word. I also wonder will Nest run in the Olympics or will her magic and forces take her life in a different direction....
