Summary: Erick finally learns the true meaning of family being first.
Review: The story "Night Kites" by M.E. Kerr takes place in a small town in New York called Seaville. It is a realistic story but a misadventure at the same time. Erick, the main character is 17 years old and has red hair. He has an older brother called Pete. Erick's girlfriend is Dill, she is a tomboy. jack is Erick's best friend they have been friends since they were young. Jack is 17 as well. His girlfriend is Nicki and she has blond hair, blue eyes and always dresses in seductive clothes. Nicki is a very attractive girl and sometimes it's hard for Erick to take his eyes off her, or is she the one who can't take her eyes of him?

I liked this story a lot. It is very realistic. The author expresses the idea of family being first when they need help and that you should help them because they would be there for you. I recommend this book to teens. I wouldn't recommend it for younger readers since they probably wouldn't understand the story and because of that they wouldn't be able to enjoy the story. If you haven't read the book yet I strongly suggest you start reading it. I give this story "Two spirited thumbs up".

Summary: Life goes on
Review: The story of a young man who faces difficulties through school and his family. Erick goes to high school, he is just like any other regular student. Since the beggining, Erick faces trouble with the girl he likes, they both have their differences and have lots of discussions mainly about how their relationship is going. At home, Erick finds out that his brother Pete has aids or HIV. Pete had gotten infected in France when he went for a short vacation with his friend. Pete came back home and explained to Erick and his parents how he had gotten infected. The whole family tries to keep Pete's problem as a secret, but soonner or later someone had to find out about it since Pete's disease was developing at a fast rate. Erick's parents decided to tell his grandparents about Pete's problem, but they did not accept the fact that Pete was homosexual and that he had aids. His grandparents decided not to spend more time with them so they decided not to visit Erick's family for thanskgiving. Furthermore, Erick's girlfriend, Dill, finds out about what was going on with Pete so she decides to brake up with Erick. Dill brakes up the relationship with Erick because first, she had an argument with her father about that she could catch the diesease too since she and many other people had gone in the pool where Pete had gone in too. Also, Dill feels that Erick did not had enough trust towards her to tell her about his brother Pete. At the end Pete and Erick shared a story that Pete had been writing all along, the story or the peace of the story that Pete reads makes you realize that their is nothing more important than family and that life goes on.

Summary: I really loved this book.
Review: This is one of those books you don't expect a lot from, but then you fall in love with them. The reason I liked it so much is because I love intimate, sensitive, deep books when they're put down simply, without the need of hard-thinking or hard-talking. It's pure feeling. Read it.

Review: Very good book. It deals with subjects that affect teens today. This is a very real book, but may not be for anyone under 13.
