Rating: Summary: Must have for fairy lovers!!! Review: In the spirit of the Blair Witch project, Suza Scalora makes the unreal seem real!!! The photography is excellent and just a joy to look at. Her side notes about each fairy is great as well. All around great book, I just wish there were more pages!!!!
Rating: Summary: Good book, just know what it is... Review: It's a great book as long as you aren't to built up for it and no before hand it is not real. It may seem silly but it is so good and the photos were so beautiful, even though you know it could never be real, you sort of think it can and just get swept away and you are ready to go searching for your own fairies because maybe they are real photos...then in the back it has credits for the models and costume makers. It seemed like it was so good it was a big let down at the end. It could just be the fact that in the store they presented it as non-fiction but it is an okay book. I feel silly every time I pick it up because I believed for a little while it was real.
Rating: Summary: My daughters can't put The Fairies down. Review: My daughters love The Fairies. The images Suza has captured are magically fantastic. Colorful and informative on their geological location. The story has a sweet underlining theme on preserving our earth from destruction. All-in-all three thumbs up from my daughters. Love to see more.
Rating: Summary: This is an excellent and highly imaginative piece of work. Review: Suza did an outstanding job on this book. Her work is beautiful and very creative. As a librarian, I would highly recommend this book to all ages. As a senior citizen, I can see this book on all coffee tables of those who like to read to young people, children, grandchildren or friends. It is an excellent book to share with one another.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic, Truely Original. Review: Suza has accomplished what many have tried, even better than most of the big names in myth and the film industry. This book is bound to be a classic with rich photography with a unique imagination. PERFECT for all ages. I can't wait for the sequel.
Rating: Summary: Hard to believe it's only fiction Review: Suza Scalora's work was absolutely breath-taking! At the end I had a hard time convincing myself that it was only fiction, and that fairies do not exist. Maybe I'm wrong. I hope so.
Rating: Summary: Simply magical Review: The colors and words in this classic work of art should be an inspiration to us all! I will pass this on to my children to open up their souls and to remind them to embrace their dreams. Thank you so much to Suza Scalora.
Rating: Summary: A feast for the fantasy lover Review: The large, vibrant, full color pictures are enthralling for those who keep an open mind. This isn't just a book of drawings but a book of photographs. Scallora includes thoughtfull stories of why she began her search, the places she ventured to in order to find the faeries, and some of the experiences she had photographing them along with brief descriptions of each individual fairy. If you are a lover of Brian and Wendy Froud's work then you will love this book.
Rating: Summary: Fairies: Photo. Evidence of the Existence of Another World Review: The photographs are beautiful. The history of the various fairies is quite interesting. I give a 5 star rating for that. However, the fairies depicted in the photographs are models which is noted at the end of the book. Surprise. Color me both gullible and disappointed. I guess the little girl in me hoped she'd see photos of real fairies.
Rating: Summary: Amazing!!! Review: This book is amazing! The pictures are wonderful! I thought some of the text was very hard to believe, though. I mean, I knew it wasn't real, but I think she went a little overboard while writing about some of the fairies. For example, saying that Dia, the Fuchsia Moss Fairy, actually talked to her, and that Twila the Twilight-Blue Fairy took a picture of her, was a little too much. I also didn't like the way all of the fairies were human size. I can understand why some would be, like Vivian, Thera, and Augustine, but when you think of fairies you imagine "little" people, not life-sized people. This was a great book though, and I loved all of the pictures, and most of the stories (except for the too unreal ones). I thought Eugenie and Willow were so cute, Twyla and Mali were enchanting, Ophelia and Augestine were beautiful, Ariel and Dia were had the best backgrounds, Cedahlia looked the most real, Vivian, Nimm, and espically Morai (probally because I live by a lake) were scary and haunting, Laurel was adorable, and I loved the unknown faires, but my favorite was Thera. Her story was so sad and enchanting, and she was so pretty. Well, this is such a great book. After reading it I wanted to go out and discover real faries! I recommend this to anyone, any age, who loves faires!
