Rating: Summary: The funniest book I have ever read. Review: I have rarely found a book as enteraining as 'Teen Angst?'. It's almost scary how much I could relate to Ned in this book. I found myself bugging my friends every few minutes with "Hey read this page, doesn't it sound like something we'd do?" Also while reading this book I was unable to avoid bursting out laughing. (Needless to say I earned a fair number of stares) 'Teen Angst? Naaah..' is hysterically funny and hard to put down.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful book about growing up.... Review: I loved this book. When I first saw it in the library, I thought it was some sort of self-help book for teens written by some middle aged woman. Boy, was I wrong. I grabed it because I needed to get a book for class. I thought I'd just pretend to read it, and continue to talk to my friend sitting next to me. However, once I read the first few lines, I was fully imersed in Vizzini's quant and zany style of writting. I am now reccomending the book to nearly all of my friends, because I think they will relate. And I know my friend Andrew will love the constant mentioning of his favorite band, Nirvana. You will not be dissapointed with this book!
Rating: Summary: Relive your geek days.. Review: I picked up this book and loved it, even though I am 21 years old. I suppose hindsight is really 20-20. Vizzini is a talented essayist with an endearing wit that most people will like. I read it and actually wanted to go back to high school!
Rating: Summary: Don't Let The Yellow Cover Fool You Review: Inside the hideous yellow cover you will find a treasure trove of insightful wit on painful reality. Best of all, there's no poetic garbage about protagonist Ned "becoming a man" as there is in every other movie, tele-movie, and Wonder Years episode about High School. Instead Ned Vizzini chooses to focus on real life as a New York Teen, and all the comedy, stress, and, yes, maturation (no matter how slight)that comes with it. With the yellow cover, you won't exactly achieve the brooding intellectual look in the halls, but you could always gift-wrap it with dark wrapping paper, or better yet, wrap it in a Subway map to show the book's true NYC colors.
Rating: Summary: Just try this book :) Review: My mom had bought me this as a gift and when I looked at the title I thought "oh no, it's just another cheesy teenager advice book about how to stay healthy and not to do this and that".......but IT iSN'T! I stand corrected. When I read it, I zipped throught the chapters laughing out lound and was finished the same day. Ned Vizzini, the author, writes in a genuine and humorous fashion that leaves you laughing and eager to write your own auto-biography. Really YOU gotta at least try this book!!!!!
Rating: Summary: The Holden Caulfield of Generation X! Review: Ned Vizzini has sharp wit, good writing, and the outcome is an excellent book.
Ned's advice for High School is great, and will help many kids. From his addiction to Nintendo, to how over-rated and expensive the prom is, he doesn't hold back. He even has footnotes that add depth and hilarity to all of his stories. He started writing articles for a local newspaper at the age of 15, so he gathered the best of his high school experiences, pollished them, and put together an excellent book.
This book isn't excellent just for teens though, even adults can enjoy it.
Ned's highly funny and original voice stands out in an ocean of un-originality. He's one of the best things coming out of this generation, and he's succeeding as an author. It's great to see that the art of writing is still alive.
5 stars.
Rating: Summary: The NEW Bible Review: Ned Vizzini is a genius. EVERYBODY should own this book. Mr. Vizzini is the true messiah and every body who dosent own this book shall burn in the fires of hell for all eternity. After reading this book i can never read another one again. THAT'S RIGHT...IT WAS THAT GOOD. If you posses any intelligence you will buy this book now.
Rating: Summary: Only for the self-absorbed Review: Nothing insightful or witty to be read in this book. The childish writing style could only entertain a true dullard and left me feeling talked down to. That being said, the WORST aspect is that the author would actually want to make a public record of his disgusting self-absorption.
Rating: Summary: Laugh Out Loud. Guaranteed. Review: Ok, this is definitely a laugh-out-loud kind of book, and it's the first I have ever come across where I actually did so at least ten times. If you want a deep, thought-provoking story, go for something else. But if you want a book to read when your favorite TV show isn't on, this is the best fill-in. It's quick and hilarious.
Rating: Summary: HILARIOUS!! Review: Teen Angst? Naah... is hilarious! Ned Vizzini really is talented- if I have half as many experiences by the time I'm eighteen, I'll count myself lucky. For all you guys out there, it's got enough... boy stuff... to keep you interested. Oh- and for all you girls? At the end all of you will be going 'He is SO sweet...'
