Review: The best book I have ever read. How I found out about this book is because my teacher made me read it and usually when a teacher makes me read a book I hate it and don't want to read it, but this time it was amazing. I had so much fun reading it. I didn't want to put the book down. I just loved it. I was finished with the book when my lit circle group was only on pages 13-100.

The book is about a 13 year old house slave who lives on a plantation and was born as the plantation owner's daughter. Her mother died when she was 6 years old and now she is 13, free and trying to make herself come true.

Review: This is the first Ann Rinaldi book I've read and I must say I'm very impressed! I really like how she ties history into a little fiction and makes a great story come alive. One of my favorite features of this book was the ending where she explained what was real and what was fictional in the book. The use of literary questions at the end was also helpful as I homeschool and will have my children use these questions to tell me about the book. I look forward to reading more of her books in the near future.
