Summary: Hooked True Believer
Review: The story True Believer is a wonderful story of a typical young teen that tries to juggle friends, a job, and home life. LaVaghn leads you though her feelings of caring for a young friend with two children, wanting desperately to please her mom, and wanting the boy across the hall to fall for her the way she has fallen for him. LaVaghn doesn't understand why he is so friendly and flirty, but doesn't seem to return the love she has for him. She soon finds out when she decides to visit him unexpectedly one day. You will not be able to put it down!

Summary: the possibility of a possibility
Review: This book picks up the story of LaVaughn where "Make Lemonade" left off. It is written in the same free verse or open verse as Make Lemonade was.

It's a story of LaVaughn's struggle to rise above the past. It's chock full of symbolism. LaVaughn is a bird trying to free itself from the nest. She is a jellyfish that learns to adapt and "go on living when the odds are against it." She is a "Grammar Build Up" student who wants to learn how to properly use the word "whom."

She is a dichotomy among her friends. The boy she wants doesn't want her. She laughs to the boy who is interested in her. Her girlfriends "found" Jesus, whereas LaVaughn is seeking Jesus in her life. She looks to see God in the details while her friends don't want to look at the details becouse they are afraid of finding the devil.

In the end, LaVaughn celebrates her 16th birthday and is still looking forward to attending college, maybe becoming a nurse. She says, "I believe in the possibility of a possibility."

This is the kind of story you can cheer for. A book that has some hope in the future. It reminds me of "A Hope in the Unseen" by Suskind. I'll five it five stars and eagerly await the final tome to complete this trilogy.

Summary: A wonderfully written book!
Review: This is a great follow-up to Make Lemonade! I couldn't put it down. The 'stream-of-conscience' writing is continued in this book, and makes it even more interesting. Unlike Make Lemonade, we learn much more about the narrator's (LaVaughn's) life. Virginia plunges into many, somewhat 'risqué' (as far as chidren's novels go) subject matters in this book, and keeps you guessing.

Many familiar characters pop up throughout the book, as well as some new faces. Some of the characters from Make Lemonade, such as Myrtle and Annie, have more clarified and defined roles. This is a great read. Virginia is also working on the third book in the trilogy, which I am greatly looking forward to. I've had the privilege of meeting the author more than once, and I'd like to say she has a wonderful personality! I recommend this book to all.

Summary: INSPIRING AND BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN!
Review: This is a story about growing up in poverty and the challenges of peer pressure, boys, school, gangs, drugs and a world that is not always kind. Many of those pressures appear in any girl's life, but it becomes even more challenging when financial resources are virtually non-existent, and the social stigma of poverty and a poor neighbourhood environment are major obstacles to overcome.

The character of La Vaughn is strong, vivid and dramatically portrayed. The message given in this book is to hold on to your dreams, work hard, get an eduation, believe in yourself and realize that one is only limited in attaining their goals by self-imposed restrictions. It may take time to achieve those goals, but nothing is impossible. This book is beautifully written and highly recommended reading for any girl who feels there may be a little of La Vaughn living somewhere deep inside her.

Summary: This is an admirable children novel that is worthy of praise
Review: This is an admirable children novel that is worthy of praise and awards.
La Vaughn is a very interesting character. From the beginning to the end, her character develops. That makes this story exists. It can capture even in her grammar skill that she has been learning from Grammar Building. She has a strong mind. She also has a strong will to study in university level although her hope is shining dimly. Her point of view shows something interesting. Especially on chapter 50 (p. 157), she talks about the growing of a pink jellyfish. "This is a pink jellyfish, so beautiful, no human could make anything so filmy and graceful and alive, floating along in a hidden lake thousands of miles away from this ugly place... " It means that no matter where you grow up in, you can be successful. Everything depends on you, how to deal with it successfully. Actually, I like every scene, but there is a scene that can relate to my experience even though it is not the main theme of this story. It is about education environment in school. The most necessity thing of children to grow up with is knowledge. Education is very important for children. This aspect can relate to a case of the burnt schools in three provinces in the Southern of Thailand as well. In that circumstance, how children can study? How many children will be successful in education? When you go to school you have to think of the security first. School is not like school anymore.
It is so brutal and cruel. Virginia Euwer wolff's writing style is also fascinating and attractive. She writes like poem. That is her genius to create a wonderful writing so I give this novel five stars.

Summary: the best book i ever read
Review: This story makes me impressed because it seems it's written to me. La Vaughn's mother wants her learn in the high level because she wants to move to the better house. She doesn't want to live there anymore. It's similar to my life. My mother always says "you have to learn to get a good job and find something better in your life". I think La Vaughn is very clever because she can separate that something good or bad such as about the club of Myrtle and Annie. I impress that she can understand the life at the end. She can understand that she should live with the way life is. When she can do like this, she can live happily and maintain the relationship with her friends.

Summary: True Believer
Review: True Believer by Virginia Euwer Wolff is very intriguing novel. it was very easy for me to relate to, which made it fun and interesting also. LaVaugh, the main character tells about the reality of a teenager growing up. it discusses many obstacles that kids, like myself go through on the path to adulthood. Reading True Believer made me realize there are many teenagers out there just like me going through some of the same problems. Some examples of the struggles LaVaugh goes through are fighting with friends, arguing with her mother, divorce, school, boys and many more. LaVaugh is a teenage girl who basically grew up herself, and went through some rough times. However, along with some of the bad things also came good. I enjoyed reading this book, not only because i could relate so easily but also because it shows that with actions come consequences. If you are a person who can relate to some of LaVagh's problems you will enjoy True Believer very much. And even if you feel that you are not able to relate, this is still an excellent book that teaches many lessons. In conclusion, True Believer is a great book that I highly recommend!

Summary: True Believer
Review: True Believer is about La Vaughn a girl whois fifteen years old. she wants out of life and will go as far as she can to achieve it.Her world seems to be like other girls. She is still striving to achieve the same goals, going to college and leaving her hometown. She works hard for a good grades at school. I really impress this story because La vaughn encounter the problem but she can resolve it. Although at first she really feel confuse about science and religion but later she admit in a bit. She think thatn ot only her who has a problem but other people also have it may be bigger than her. This is also about relationship between friends;Annie and Myrtle who are growing in a different direction. They've joined the Jesus Club. This is the best on of book that I ever read
