Summary: Uhm, excuse me?
Review: Okay, first of all Id like to say that I have read a few of Ravenwolfs books and they arent bad. I like her style and she also shares some valuable information. However, Teen Witch is not one that I would reccomend to any of my friends. While it is a good sized book full of spells and other information about Wicca, it was a waste of my money. For someone who is so knowlegable about Wicca, she sure uses alot of names in her spells, making them unethical according to Wiccan rules and basic common sense. When she talks about the Ordains and says Teen Speak after each one, that makes me think..Since youre too stupid to understand me, Ill explain it to you! She also basically says that Teens cannot have real covens because theyre just teens. Oh, and the titles of her spells suggests to me that she is really trying too hard to make this thing targeted towards teens, using words like Jiffy and Rock n Roll. Its cute and fluffy but leaves me questioning her ethics. Silver Ravenwolf is a great adult author. I think she should stick to her own age group.

Summary: Teen Witch
Review: Teen Witch is an excellent book for anybody interested in Wicca! This was my first book that I bought about the Craft. I especially love the way she writes as if you're sitting right next to her in her living room. I would definitely recommend buying this book!!!

Summary: Good for beginners
Review: I was actually quite surprised to find out that many people don't think Silver RavenWolf is a good author. Her tone that is used in this book really helped me relate to many things from parents to basically knowing the basics. I would DEFINATELY recommend this book to anyone who is a beginner to Wicca, like me. If you buy this book, you will not be wasting any money. Everything in this book is what a beginner needs to know. Thanks RavenWolf

Summary: Good for young teen
Review: Teen Witch is a pretty good book. However, it is not very good for older teens, or those who already know some basics of witchcraft. The book is good for people who is in middle school, or those who just start high school, because some people think Silver Ravenwolf is too "mothery". That she talks about about things we already know, but some people do think witches kill animals, take drugs, curse, workship Satan (we don't even believe in that!). Teen Witch is a book that give you plenty of spells. Most of the spells she wrote was asked by teens, so usually are very useful for normal teenagers. You would love it if you are young, have no clue about witches, and think that witches are evil. It is because you will learn A LOT. If you are a mature teen who is at the "indepent age" from your parents, or already have some basics of the Craft and know that it is not evil, you will probably hate it. So, I give it 3 stars.

Summary: Zero Stars, If I Could......
Review: Silver Raven Wolf has written some decent books, a fact that many have forgotten. Not good, not great, not outstanding, essential or must-haves (unless you consider camp value) but decent. Apparently, Llewellyn books (motto: for every ten over-commericalized,find-a-market-and-nail-it-to-death stinkers , maybe one truly great book) were so desperate for another great author to market, they decided to make Jeanine Trayer a star. Well, "Silver" decided she was "The most famous Witch in America" and therefore was so deluded she published this monstrosity. This is an absurdly awful book.
From a literary perspective, she does talk down. Even in the "Parents" section. This is a book (as clearly printed in geeky, overdone lettering on the cover) for teenagers. Having been a teenager myself, and a teenager when this book came out (fifteen), I'm suitably insulted. Granted, there isn't much you can say for my generation, but I would sincerly hope that this isn't it. Mama Silver's writing is so shmarmy, you long to slap her up. She's like that parent ahead of you in the supermarket who's talking the most inane form of baby-talk. And I've got news for you. ALL of her books are in this same voice. While some of her others have fairly redeemable content to save them, this does not. As expected, Mama Silver skips over that whole messy religion business and courts certainly a "new generation" of Witches. Ones that aren't a religion at all, but doing mindless, unethical spells and getting bored in about a week or so.

Any one that is looking at this book for an introduction to a new religion will be disappointed. Silver doesn't let the whole issue of "God" bother her. Hey, with her, you can send high praises to who-fram, as long as you get to those spells! For you, look for "The Principles of Wicca" by Vivianne Crowley. It's a simple book that offers pathworking, meditation and exercises that will really show you this branch of Paganism. To suppliment, with a bit more detail on Ritual outline, Dorothy Morrison's "The Craft" is truly excellent.

Are you looking to "set someone straight" about your religious choice? I beg of you, don't start with this book!...

Are you looking to be able to do spells and do what you want, get what you want, et cetera? You'll be disappointed. This offers no visualizations, or meditations, and no exercises to ease your work. Without practice, you can't just decide to cast a spell and recieve success. Jumping into it is the first step towards failure. The spells you first do will forever effect the ones you later do. If you plow right in, you will face severe difficulty in spellwork and magic later on.

Consider this. Are you considering purchasing this book for a teen-ager you know that could be interested? Well, prepare to endorse the following values, then. Mindless dogma, the pressure to mindlessly conform to a strict and unwavering (and unethical) standard, homophobia, and tampering with potentially dangerous energy. These are not the morals or values children of ANY religion need. These attrocites are why many people have moved away from so-called "traditional" religions like Christianity and Judaism. For teens interested in the Craft, I recommend "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Wicca and Witchcraft". It's much more spirituality focused, simplier to read (less annoying prose, that is) and ~better~!
For children under thirteen, the book does contain references to sex (not detailed descriptions, ~references~) and might not be suitable yet. "Teen Witch", with it's view point, won't really ever be suitable, short of the nightmare of a crop of brain-dead, conformist, unethical-yet-preachy "Witches" taking over the population. Don't buy this book, and it just might not happen. Mama Silver, if you were my mother, I'd claim to be adopted!

Summary: Teen Witch
Review: What a great introduction for a young person searching for their own beliefs! There is even a section that explains Wicca to parents. It is refreshing and nothing evil is going on at all. Wiccan faith is totally against using illegal drugs. It encourages kindness to all living things and taking care of our planet.

Summary: A deceitful book
Review: I never bought this book, but have checked it out.Silver says that some of her wiccan deities are "the same" as Christian and Catholic deities and so on.My problem is ...It's not true!
Also, she mentions strange spirits like the 'frost giants',the 'ancestors',and the 'fire giants'.She doesn't really explain who or what they are.She makes herself sound silly..."Let mama Silver show you how",it;s a good intro to wicca, but if you're advanced, don't get it.She acts like the reader has never seen or heard of wicca before. She wastes pages
about how witches shouldn't do drugs or hurt people, but doesn't everyone know that already?

Summary: I dunno...
Review: I bought this book because my I kept on asking my witch friend questions that he didn't always know the answer to, so he reccomended this book to me, he said he had all kinds of fears, and questions about the craft as I did. At first I was slightly nervous as to what I was getting myself into, but as I began to read this book I was relieved with the humorous intro about sacrificing fluffy (a joke obviously), and the modest ways that the ideas were portrayed throughout the book. And it did answer many of my questions, and got me more interested in the craft. There were some problems however, there were times when I thought...Silver Ravenwolf is making wicca seem trendy, like it's cool to be a witch, that aspect I didn't like, but it's none the less a great begginer's book. ...

Summary: Great for a Headlong plunge into Wicca
Review: This book was wonderful for me when I first got into Wicca. The author explains a little about theory and the guiding principles behind this intriguing practice, along with practical application, application in every day life, and ways to incorporate it into past and present traditions that you do.
She also gives some fairly simple spells to try out, once you've read the whole book, and, of course, she guides you through rituals, holidays, and more! I definitely recommend this book for any teen (or anyone, really) that is interested, at all, in Wicca.
