Summary: Island Of The Aunts
Review: This story takes place on a small island with very strange animals.
Minette is a girl whose parents are divorced, and live very far away from each other. Both of her houses are fairly small. Fabio is a boy who goes to a horrible school and lives with his grandparents in a fairly large house.
The two only have one thing in commen... They were both captured by Aunts (that is aunts the relatives not the bugs)! In this wacky fantasy story, the Aunts take them to an island were their lives are changed forever and they become friends. A kraken (you'll have to find out what that is) comes and gives them his baby kraken. It's their job to protect the kraken's son from people who want to harm it. Can they take care of the baby kraken? I bet you can figure that out by reading the book! From this book I learned that you shouldn't be afraid of new things, try it out before you overlook it. I thought that this was a great book because the auther thought up animals that are pretty hard to imagine in real life. There is a great setting because they were on an island and that is very unusual so I think this is a cool setting. Some other books by Eva Ibbotson are: Which Witch? The Secret of Platform 13, Journey To The River Sea, and Dial a Ghost. I like her books also because she has chapters that aren't too long or too short, and she also knows how to put things so that people will understand what she means. I think that this book would be good for readers 3rd grade and up.

Summary: Hungry For Magic, But Tired Of Harry- The Perfect Remedy
Review: This was not one of the first books I read by Eva Ibbotson. She spins tales of magic and fictional but likable characters, the everlasting tug of war between good and evil. If you've been reading Harry Potter, and now, tired of Harry with no mistakes and no books since 2000, you have met your book.
"Island Of The Aunts" is a story about aunts who live on a magical island with all the wonderful creautures that live in your dreams, and more. Aunts who live there to take care of the animals are getting on in the years and need help. This is when they "kidnap" two wonderful children who have horrible families and take in a mistake. The children, the island, and the aunts all are going on a journey that readers will never forget.

AND FOR ALL OF YOU WHO DON'T WANT TO READ LONG REVIEWS: PUT DOWN HARRY POTTER AND PICK UP EVA IBBOTSON!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Attention Everyone Who Likes and Dislikes Harry Potter!!
Review: This was such a fantastic book, that if you decided not to read it, you would be missing a great treat. From the minute that I picked up this book, I could not set it down! It is so well written, and there are some hilarious parts that will make you cry with laughter. The author describes each character so well, and each one's personality comes across perfectly. Ibbotson creates a mystical world of mermaids, talking seals, large whales ("krakens"), huge birds, friendly giant swamp worms, and a great assortment of other creatures. If you like Harry Potter, this book is just for you, and if you don't like Harry Potter, you should try reading this book anyway. I bet you'll like it! You should also try reading "Which Witch" and "The Secret of Platform 13" by the same author.

Summary: Wonderful story
Review: Three elderly sisters, Myrtle, Coral, and Etta(another sister Dorothy is in prison for hitting a chef over the head with a wok because he was cooking an endangered creature) are entrusted with the care of injured and distressed creatures, both magical and normal. They are overwhelmed with the work, and come up with the idea of kidnapping three children to train for the future. Coral and Etta kidnap Minette and Fabio, two children who were very unhappy with their lot in life. Myrtle, however, kidnaps the spoiled and materialistic Lambert, who causes nothing but trouble, and ultimately almost destroys all their work. Minette and Fabio are entrusted by the spirit of the sea to take care of his son. Lambert also causes trouble here.

I know that this is a children's book, but I enjoyed it thoroughly. The characters and sea creatures are truly magical and a delight to young and old alike. A definite must to share with all the children you know.

Summary: Great book!
Review: When three aunts go out to chose kids to help out with the work for the animals on the island, two of them were successes one was a failure. The two successes were Fabio and Minette. They hated their life and wanted to go to a third place, a better place. The disaster (Lambert) was a spoiled brat. When the aunts took the children back to the island, drugged, they awoke to a stunning view. Fabio and Minette worked their share of work and were introduced to mermaids, large worms, selkies, a bird the size of an elephant and ghosts. Meanwhile Lambert sat in his room trying to reach his dad on his cell phone. Will he get a hold of his father and will the island's secret be lost forever?

I liked this book because it shows that there is a better place than going between your parents houses or being turned into someone you don't want to be. I also like it because it shows bonds between families and friends alike.
I don't have a certain favorite part so I'll tell some of my favorites. One scene is when the baby kraken hums his first hum it's a hum of distress. He calls on his father for help. Another scene I like is when . . . you'll have to read it.
I would recommend this book to animal lovers.
