Summary: Just let me catch whoever doesn't LOVE this book...
Review: Yeah, I know that i'm supposed to say it was great and all that, but it was more. (Here I go...) Wise Child wasn't just a bunch of paper with ink, it is a book with a spirit of it's own. Of course, Mrs. Furlong made every word count. When I read it I got a D in math because the only thing in my mind was " WITCH! WITCH!" (just kidding) so read it. (And while you're at it, read Juniper as well)

Summary: What is wrong with all of you?
Review: Wiccanism is not the theme of this book! I can't believe you let yourselves be turned away from God by a book! A book I am sure that Mrs./Ms. Furlong did not intend to lead the masses away from the church. There is no such thing as a good witch. Their all evil.

Summary: An inspiration to all!
Review: I read Wise Cild for the first time when I was 11, and I am now 13. In that time I have read this book around 20 times. It is an amazing book, and has helped mold my life thus far and truly been an inspiration. Just the simple things that were said like how doing "chores" is an important part of life and just helps you clear your mind and step back and inspect your life. It has helped me discover that there really is magick in this world. When I read the book it really spoke to me, and awoke feelings inside me I never knew were there. I started looking into things like Wicca and Paganism, Wise Cild opened a whole new world for me, and helped be more intuned with the earth and all it's creatures. I recomend this book to anyone who's looking for themselves, searching for something that is missing but always been there, I hope Mrs. Furlong realizes that she hasn't just written a book, but created a new world for adventurous souls and minds.

Summary: Opened Up A Door I Always Felt Was There
Review: I was so intruiged by the spooky, mysterious cover that I grabbed this book, just before leaving the library when I was about 10. I guess it was KARMA, because the book that wispered to me continued to call my name untill I finished it the same day.

Wise Child is so fluid and discriptive, and the story line IS magical. Monica Furlong's novel is certainly SPELLBINDING. Her book opened up a door to me that I had always felt within myself, Paganism, Wicca, Witchcraft, what ever you must lable it. Wise Child allowed me realize that what I felt was also felt by others, and had been for centuries, in fact, since the begining of (wo)man kind. This book was so touching, eye opening and real that it gave me inspiration to be exactly who I am, not some conformed waif.

I'd like to thank Monica Ferlong for her inspiration and expressionism, you are wonderful! After reading other's reviews of this book I got that the feeling that this is shared by all who read Wise Child- This book is amazing! I recomended it to first my brother, and then my sister when I felt she was old enough to understand. It has helped to free their minds and keep them open. I even named my puppy Juniper after Juniper in the novel. She is the Doran who takes the abandoned Wise Child into her home. Juniper is the kind teacher and rolemodle for Wise Child. They both learn through their experience, and it is beautiful to imagine in one's mind's eye. They also experience many adventures which parallel what life must have been like for a Doran at that time. The story is is a wonderful intorduction to a world which many perceive as dark and evil, but, of course, IS NOT! So I say- give it to someone who needs an eye opening experience. Please read this awe inspiring story and free your mind, you will want to read it again and again!

Merry meet and merry part and merry meet again!

Summary: positively the best childrens book I have read
Review: When I read this book, I could not put it down! From the rich details to the fascinating plot, Wise Child is by far the most excellent children's story I have ever read! It was an instant classic in my house, and as soon as I finished I had to run right out and read Juniper!

Summary: A rare find with a character of its own....
Review: Wise Child is a beautifully written book for younger readers. It contains colourful historical detail and paints a vivid picture of the magical, mystical story of a childs life with a solitary witch or 'Doran'. Wise Child becomes orphaned and in the village auction it is decided that she should live with the local wise woman, Juniper, whom the villagers rely on in times of sickness. However the local Priest, Fillan, has the power to turn the villagers against Juniper in a time when suspected witches were often tortured and killed... It is obvious that the beliefs/cultures included in this book have been well researched, understood and brought to life by Furlong. Of all the books I have ever read, I can truly say that Wise Child is my favourite. I have read this book four times and am now 16 - too old for it really but the story and setting is so rare that I can only hope Furlong will write an adult version for me. Five Stars for a book which has provided much enjoyment as well as influencing my own views and interests through the years.

Summary: A must read book for all ages!
Review: I simply loved this book, and could not put it down until I had finished it! The characters, the setting, were all vibrant and real to life although the story took place long ago. It is not dated or stilted for today's reader. I am reading up on children's lit for the upcoming school year. I will be teaching fifth grade. The children will love this novel. Very creative, original, and a good tale of good vs. evil. I plan to read "Jupiter", and I will hope that Ms. Furlong adds more to this incredible series!

Summary: Amazing.
Review: Though I felt that this book isn't as riviting and excidting as Juniper, it is still an amazing book. Monica Furlong does an excelent job describing the feelings and sensations felt by wise child. An excelent choice, and I hope Ms. Furlong will come out with another doran book soon.

Summary: Interesting and intriquing
Review: This book takes place during the era right after the time of King Arthur. It is all about a young girl who is abandoned by her mother, who is a witch of black magic. Her father is a sailor who is around hardly ever around. Her grandmother, who had taken care of her, fell ill and died. Then she is left without a home, and no body in the village wanted to take her in, except Juniper, who is an herbal doctor and a Dorian, a witch of white magic. Wise Child is the girl's name and she makes a home with Juniper, which has the whole village talking about how she is to be a witch too.

This book is a good fantasy story, a little hard to follow at times, yet entrancing and hard to put down. Not only is it a good storyline, but the characters are really lovable. It leaves the reader spellbound and eager to find out what is going to happen next. All in all, this selection is very well-written and appropriately exciting.

Summary: This book is awsome for kids my age!
Review: I really love this book! I have read the Juniper also and it is really cool too. I don't make much time for reading... I guess... but I do for this book. I don't really think it is a 5-star book. It is a 6-star book! Keep reading all you 13 year olds out there!
