Summary: An Over-all Wonderful book
Review: I Really liked this book because you really get to know and love the charectors. This book Really got me thinking about trust and caring for not only those you love but those who need the caring.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: mystical pseudo-biology does not a novel make
Review: I usually really, really like L'Engle, but this book deserved to be flung full-force against a wall. A preachy, incoherent plot, filled with wooden characters (helpfully named things like 'Kali' and 'Arcangelo' so you can tell the good guys from the bad guys), and awful mystical science which explains how some animals are intrinsically evil.

Yuck. Go read the 'Wrinkle in Time' trilogy instead.

Summary: Mindbogglingly terrible
Review: I've always felt L'Engle was a very uneven author, but after reading this stinker I'm not going to play the lottery by reading her any more. The disjointed plot and incomprehensible actions by stiff characters add up to a waste of paper-- especially given the ridiculous moral message to feel love even for a killer!!

Summary: L'Engle Makes another great book!!
Review: If you love books that have a lot of clues and are a bit confusing you're in for a treat. This book is about Adam Eddington(also appears in "A ring of Endless Light) a guy who is picked to work with a great scientist, Dr. O'Keefe (also appears as Calvin O'Keefe in the Wrinkle in Time books). But on his way to the Island Gaea he gets mixed up in this world problem and whatever decision he makes will affect the wholee Earth.

Summary: fantastic-another excellent book by the excellent author
Review: In the Arm Of The Starfish, so many unexpected things occur. This book, just like all the other Madeleine L'Engle books that i have read, is excellent, and I recommend it to all L'Engle fans. One of my favorite characters, Adam Eddington, meets a stunningly beautiful girl, Kali.

It's like a story about good against evil just like the Time Quartet, only it is in Chronos-ordinary, wrist-watch, alarm clock time. Ms. L'Engle has this special ability to make the reader travel along with Adam as if you are actually there, and to experience his fear, his joy, and his confusion. Adam has to decide whether to trust Kali or Dr. O'Keefe who is working on the regeneration of starfish. It is very important that what Dr. O'keefe discovered does not get into the wrong hands. It turns out that Kali and her father are the wrong hands. But unfortunately, Adam doesnt see that and he's uncertain...is she the simple, kind, beautiful girl that she appears to be or is there more to her than that?

It's really disappointing that Adam decides to trust Kali and that Josh is killed because of that decision. So many people, including Adam, were very hurt emotionally at Josh's death, and I think Adam had the hardest time because not only did his friend die, but he was responsible for his death. Although I was not happy that Adam was betrayed, I think it is an excellent plot that can lead the story onto A Ring of Endless Light, which is my all time favorite story, also by Ms. L'Engle. I definitely recommend this book, another masterpiece by a fantastic author. READ IT!!!

Summary: This inspiring novel of truth, passion, trust and betrayal.
Review: In the book The Arm of the Starfish, Adam Eddington, a modern-day teenager travels alone for the first time to work for a Dr. O'Keefe for the summer. Throughout the time he spends there, he learns about friendship, life, and most importantly, himself. This truly inspirational novel captures the self that lives within all of us

Summary: Another one of Madeline L'Engle's GREAT books
Review: Like all of L'Engles books she makes the charectors feel alive. Adam Eddington, the unexperienced 16 year old, gets stuck in the middle of something much more dangerous than he suspects. When he finally realizes the disaster he is in the adventure finally begins

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not L'Engle's best
Review: Muddled, predictable, and far too black-and-white. The evil characters are completely evil; you lose all sympathy for Adam as he continues to be confused about which characters to trust and obey. The Young Unicorns is a much tighter, more compelling thriller and much more interesting in its exploration of good and evil. Please read The Young Unicorns for L'Engle at her best.
