She met lats of people, but the two important people was Lila and Gruthie. Lila was her friend even though no body liked her, and Gruthie was Dinnie's crush.
Rating: Summary: Yo! Review: "Bloomability" is absolutely fantastic. It depicts the journey of "Dinnie-the-Dot" as she travels to Switzerland to attend an international boarding school where her uncle is the headmaster. There, she is exposed to a variety of cultures and people and thus her life is inevitably changed forever. I found this novel extremely interesting, I've always wanted to go to boarding school! You just can't put this book down; a wonderful MUST READ. An element that I especially love in Sharon Creech's books is that all her characters from each book are intertwined with each other. There are references such as in Bloomability, her aunt mentions a girl ( Zinny from "Chasing Redbird") who is clearing a trail in a postcard. "Walk Two Moons" and "Absolutely Normal Chaos" also have characters which interchange and appear in both novels. I strongly reccomend everyone, (children, adults, pre-teens, young adults, etc) to read this novel, and other books that Sharon Creech has written. You'll never be the same again.
Rating: Summary: A PAGE TURNER!! Review: This book in my opinion is a page turner. It's about a girl named Dinnie who moves to Switzerland to live with her aunt and uncle. She is a quiet girl and she changes on her trip at Switzerland. She says in the beggining of the book that she was kidnapped by strangers and in the end of the book she is in tears that she is leaving. She makes many friends one of which she says she wishes she could pack in a box and keep forever. The thing I really liked about though was the dreams of dinnie. This is truly a page turner.
Rating: Summary: Possibly Sharon Creech's best Review: I know that many people will disagree with me when I say that Bloomability is possibly Sharon Creech's best book. Though I have read several others, including Walk Two Moons and Chasing Redbird, Bloomability seemed to be the best out of those. Bloomablilty is the story of Domenica Santolina Doone, aka Dinnie, a twelve-year-old girl who was always on the move. After living in thirteen states in the first twelve years of her life, Dinnie's Aunt Sandy and Uncle Max "kidnap" Dinnie and take her to the American School in Switzerland, where Uncle Max is the headmaster. There, Dinnie attends school and meets children from all over the world. This book's plot, though it seems small, is one that makes you think, though you might not think while you are reading it. I feel that I can really relate to Dinnie and her experience at school. I go to a private boarding school, though I am a day student there, where kids from all over the country and all over the world come to school. I have met all sorts of people with all sorts of cultures. I also have the small classes that Dinnie had, with a grade of about 40. I thought that Sharon Creech wrote a great story, one that gets into your heart, and you should read this book if you want to get an insight into the life of a boarding student in middle school (or if you are a Sharon Creech fan). You won't be disappointed!
Rating: Summary: read it Review: this is a wonderful, wonderful, WONDERFUL book! (though not as good as Walk Two Moons and better than 'Chasing Redbird') Dominique's life turns upside down when she is 'kidnapped' by her aunt and uncle, and they go to live in Switzerland where her uncle is the new headmaster at an international boarding school. it tells of her struggles to adjust, and the wonderful friendships she makes with kids from all over the world. This is an amzing book and i highly recomend it.
Rating: Summary: Best book I have read this year Review: Bloomability is a great book. When I started this book it didn't seem that interesting but as I went along my thoughts changed about this book. This book is about a girl named Dinnie who is kidnapped (sort of) by her aunt and uncle who take her to Swizerland. Here Dinnie is living a great life. So it's not like a regular piece of literature. I don't want to tell you everything so I'll stop here. Everyone out there if you are like me then you'll read this book.
Rating: Summary: I love this book! Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read! I can read it again and again and not get bored! I think the main character Domenica Doone (Dinnie) is a lot like other kids: searching for who she really is. THIS IS A GREAT BOOK!!
Rating: Summary: Bloomability Review: Thirteen-year-old Domenica Santolina Doone {better known as Dinnie} is whisked away from her family {"kidnapped" as she refers to it}. She is taken to a boarding school in Switzerland by her Uncle Max and Aunt Sandy. She is not happy because she does not want to be away from her family. She makes friends with Guthrie and Lila. She gradually comes to love this new place with it's people who've come from all over the world. Then summer vacation comes and she has to choose if she wants to come back to the boarding school or stay with her family. Now what is she supposed to do? I recommend this book to anyone who feels homesick while being away from home. I especially enjoyed the way the author wrote about Dinnie's dreams.
Rating: Summary: "It's an Oppurtunity..." Review: With these words Jack Doone sweeps his family around the United States. For 13-year-old Dinnie, it's hard to understand all these new people everywhere. "My second life began when I was kiddnapped by two complete strangers..." Dinne accounts her travels with her aunt and uncle who she barely knows to the school that they are opening in Lugano, Switzerland. Italian doesn't come easily to Dinnie, but she talks with an 'Italian tongue.' Her friends Guthrie, Lila, Keisuke, Belen, Mari, Fadi, and more help her out, and show her around, and also show her a side of life she's never experienced. Although Dinnie doesn't realize it, she is giving back to her friends with her caring, comical outlook on life. Slowly her dot self begins to grow, her bubble expanding, until she herself is holding Switzerland.
Rating: Summary: Inspiring! Review: This book was wonderful! The beginning was pretty slow, and it did take some effort to get into it. But you just couldn't help yourself at a certian point. I was so inspired by this book that I'm learing Italian (this book takes place in Switzerland). This book is for everyone, but before setting it down, give it a good try. I especially reccomend this book if your a skiier or looking for a good place to ski. Great wintertime book!
