A fantastic book, I loved everything about "Bloomability", being a student in a boarding school in Switzerland. Everything mentioned about Dinnie's life there in Lugano, is what life is really about here. So I could totally relate to the context of Sharon's Creech's novel. Recommended to everyone who loves a good read and anyone considering attending boarding school. "Bloomability" is a fantastic book for anyone wanting have a taste of life in boarding school in Europe.

Summary: One of Creech's best!
Review: Me, being a huge Creech fan, I was happy when I layed my hands on "Bloomability." The characters in this book might not be as detailed as you would want them to be, but it still is very good.

Dinnie isn't a normal girl, she lives with a family that moves around ever so often. Sometimes this frustrates Dinnie, but she still loves her family. Everything handles pretty well until the day Dinnie is sent out to boarding school in Switzerland. her life changes as she copes with different conditions, people, and life styles. Soon, Dinnie meets friends; Lila, Keisuke, Belen and Guthrie along with many other kids of numerous nationalities.

This book sweeps you into Dinnie's life, and doesn't let go until the last page. You feel as if you know her, and you are going through what she is. Creech is an amazing author, and this is one of her bests. If you want to read other books by this author, Chasing redbird, The Wanderer, Absolutely Normal Chaos are for you! Have fun reading "Bloomability!"

Summary: A Story of Self-Discovery in the Beautiful Swiss Alps!
Review: This book is one of my favorite books of all time! It is one of my favorite books to just pick up and read when I feel down, because I can escape into Dinnie's world of beautiful Lugano. Sharon Creech does such a wonderful job of drawing you into the romantic Swiss Alps, where Dinnie's journey of self-discovery unfolds. When I first read this book although I loved it, I couldn't get away from the beautiful setting, but after I read it a second time the story of Dinnie seemed so much more real and the theme of blooming whatever the situations really shined through. For those of you who have read this inspiraing novel I'm sure you will be intrested to know that Mrs. Creech actually worked at TASIS, The American School in Switzerland, while her husband was headmaster. And the founder of the school is just like Mrs. Sterling in the novel. And to those who have not yet experienced this must read of a novel: What are you waiting for? Grab some coffee or a bowl of ice-cream and get going! Just think of the Bloomabilities!
Happy Reading!

Summary: Opportunities and Bloomabilities
Review: Dominica Santolina Doone: A girl who doesn't have an established home. A girl growing up amid failed "opportunities". A girl created by an author, yet like girs everywhere.

Dominica (called Dinnie) is the youngest child of her parents. Her father moves the family every six months in search of nonexistent opportunities, and Dinnie's brother Crick is a juvenile delinquint, her sister Stella pregnant and married at the age of sixteen. The reader gets the impression that Dinnies mother fears for her daughter's well being when she arranges for Dinnie to attend an international school in Switzerland, where her uncle is the newly appointed headmaster. At first, Dinnie feels isolated, alone, betrayed and forced into this new opportunity . However, Dinnie discovers later that this is one opportunity that will change her forever- this was a bloomability.

I absolutely loved this book, and I believe that although many events were highly improbable, the tone of the book is truthful and the bloomabilities in this book are the bloomabilities of life. Thank you, Ms. Creech!

Ciao!

Summary: WOW! So much different than what I thought!
Review: Truth be told, I NEVER read books like this. I've always been more into the science fiction/fantasy scene- not into the girl gets up goes to school and has to deal with the perils of other thirteen year olds!
This book is so much more than that.
Dinnie is a 12 year old girl sent to a boarding school in Switzerland. Sharon Creech does a beautiful job relating you to the characters, and the beauty of the country!
She learns about other cultures in teenagers all over the world.
I loved how there were aspects of the book such as Dinnie's dreams, and her way of seeing the world through her bubble.
However, being an avid skiier, I loved the trip to the Dolomites, and when the avalanche hits, it is heart stopping. You bite your nails and cry along with dinnie.
A truly splendid book not to be missed!

Summary: Not a One Time Read
Review: I read the book Bloomability for the first time when I was in the fifth grade. It loved the book. It is a wonderful story of a girl trying to adjust to her new life and find out who she really is. It is a fun and easy read. I occasionally pick it up again to read. Once you read it, you fall in love with it; not a one time read.

Summary: An incredible book--Whoo-hoo, Mrs. Creech!
Review: This story is about the heartwarming adventures of Domenica Santolina Doone, a 13 year old girl who is struggling to find out who she really is. Domenica (called Dinnie for short) has never had a home in one place. Her father is always packing up, seeking job opportunities elsewhere, and Dinnie's family has lived "just about everywhere" in the United States. As Dinnie says, her belongings have come to fit "in one box".

We catch a glimpse of her new home in New Mexico, where we find out her brother has been getting into trouble with gangs, and her older sister becomes pregnant.

Soon Dinnie's grandmother comes to visit, and through her, Dinnie becomes more curious about her Italian heritage.

Then suddenly, without barely a warning, Dinnie is swept away by her Uncle Max and Aunt Sandy. She finds herself on a plane to Europe. Her Uncle and Aunt have taken her to Switzerland for a new life. A new chance. Her Uncle will be the new headmaster at an international boarding school in Lugano, Switzerland.

Dinnie soon finds herself in the stunning town of Lugano, where you can see mountains filled with snow and blooming palm trees at the same time. While I was reading this, I felt almost envious of Dinnie, because Lugano sounds g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s!

Nevertheless, Dinnie is sad about leaving her family behind. But this story is about how she adjusts, and blooms in her new surroundings! We find out her Aunt and Uncle are kind and cool people. Now, here begins Dinnie's new life. She meets new friends like Lila, Keisuke, Belen, and Guthrie along with many other kids of numerous nationalities. Dinnie is submerged with culture, and she learns to speak Italian, how to ski, etc.

Many girls can identify with Dinnie, and will be cheering for the herione. This book is inspiring and absolutely wonderful. I found myself laughing and crying 'Viva! Viva! Viva!' out loud to the air when I finished it! (Just go read it already!)
