Rating: Summary: Shaina Kelly from Bak Middle School of the Arts Review: Kentucky. Arizona. Nevada. Since she was born, Domenica Santolina Dunne, also known as 'Dinnie,' had lived in twelve different states with her nomadic family. With her dad finding a new job, her brother Crick in jail, her sister Stella pregnant, and Dinnie trying to adjust to her new school, life was not easy. Then amidst everything Dinnie is taken to live in Switzerland with her Aunt Sandy and Uncle Max, where a whole new life begins. In the incredible, fascinating, coming of age novel, Bloomability by Sharon Creech, an easy going teenage girl shares the joys of Switzerland, the essence of friendship, and the importance of family and growing up. I absolutely adored this book, and the style it was written in, which described the beauty of Switzerland, told about Dinnie's school life, and elaborated on her dreams. It was particularly captivating how Dinnie herself narrated the book, since Dinnie's thoughts and actions reminded me of my personality. Along with Dinnie, the book is filled with many different interesting enjoyable characters which are brought to life right off the pages of the novel. For instance, there is Geoffrey a fun, understanding boy who Dinnie likes and Lila, Dinnie's snobby friend who can at sometimes be very emotional. By the author of Walk Two Moons, Bloomability is a must read that will keep you thinking long after you turn the last page.
Rating: Summary: On the move Review: "Bloomability" is a heart warming story about family who's lives are on the move. Unexpectedly, one day the main character Domenica Santolina Doone, known as Dinnie, was told to go and move with her Aunt Sandy and Uncle Max in Lake Lugano, Switzerland. Luckily, with the quick transition and the hospitality of the people there, Dinnie feels quite at home. What wasn't clearly stated was why Dinnie moved away from her family, while her family stayed behind. This book was targated to mostly sixth graders or younger; I would not recommend this highly to anyone older than that. Because the main character is a girl, I do not encourage boys to read this. If you would like an easy book just to read for fun, I would consider this book.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I have ever read Review: In this oddly humourous story of discovery, a 13 year girl named Domenica Santolina Doone (Dinnie) gets kidnapped! Okay, She doesn't really get kidnapped, but close. Her family has moved numerous times, 13 to be exact. One day, her Aunt Sandy and Uncle Max come and take her away to Switzerland. She goes to a boarding school where her uncle is headmaster. She is determined never to like Switzerland, or the people in it, but she finds herself coming to love the country, and forming a few srong friendships. One that is especially strong is with as boy named Peter, who prefers to be called Guthrie. He takes Dinnie many places, and she finds not only beauty and friendship, but also who she is. I would reccomend this book to anyone who is uncertain of who they are. I would say it is more aimed to 10 to 15 year old girls, but boys would enjoy it, too. Read this book! You'll love it more than any other book you've read.

Rating: Summary: Bloomability Review: Bloomability Sharon Creech Scholastic List price:$... Review by: Jenny How would you feel, if every six months you and your family packed up your things, piled into the car and headed off to a new, unaccustomed place where you knew absolutely no one? Domenica Satolina. Doone known as Dinnie, leaves a life, a home, and a past behind her knowing that she is going to have to start all over again only in a strange new place. Bloomability is a exceptional story of a young thirteen year old, named Dinnie who's life changes forever when her aunt Sandy and uncle Max 'kidnap' (as she recalls) and move her to Switzerland where the doors to her second life await her. Sharon Creech draws the reader's attention like a magnet as soon as you open to page one. The problems Dinnie faces, her adventures and decisions will keep your eyes glued to the page until you find out what happens next. Sharon Creech keeps the reader hooked on a leash throughout, and not for one moment lets the reader feel bored or questionable about where the story is going. The theme in Bloomability is learning how to get used to a new place, with new people, with new surroundings because it's the best thing for you to do even if it means leaving your parents and siblings behind. Dinnie learns to love her new life and the people in it, and still loved her first life too. Sometimes when you feel the most uncomfortable with a situation, it can be the best one for you. The purpose of writing this novel was the author wanted to let the reader know that even when your in a situation that you don't like at first, it could be the most exciting roller-coaster of your life. Sharon Creech has done it once more! This is one of her best works yet! So be sure to catch Dinnie before she moves again, and read Bloomability!!!!!!

Rating: Summary: A perfect account Review: I have had also had the life-changing experiencing of being sent to a swiss boarding school, in my case the American School In Switzerland situated in Lugano that Creech has based as a model for her book. Creech's book expressed everything that my friends and I felt, and in a poignant and exciting way. This book is not just for children but for anyone who wants to remember just how it felt when they too went through that strange and amazing experience that is boarding school.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: Seems autobiographical. If it isn't, I'm even more impressed. The reader of the audiobook is great, however it would've been better if she were actually the right age (the age of the protagonist). Colin bladewriter.com
