Rating: Summary: a awesome book full of change. Review: Bloomability, by Sharon Creech is an awesome book. I love all of Sharon Creeches books, but this one was my favorite. I love how Sharon Creech ties a little bit of each of her novels into all of her books. This book was especialy good, and i hope that she comes out with another book.
Rating: Summary: Good Review: The way that Sharon Creech wiites it just gets you into the book even though I have only read two and a half of her books (I didn't really like Walk two Moons) she writes them very well in every way I think. Bloomability was very good and I finished it in like a day and a half, I love dhow she didn't just wirte about all the good stuff and all the bad stuff that happened to her she also wrote about the in between. When she was talking about how Dennie felt like she was in a bubble I thought that was one of the best parts of the book and she is very talented in that way!
Rating: Summary: A great book! I really enjoyed it! Review: I really enjoyed this book. Creech is one of my favorite authors, and she has never failed at one of her books! Mostly, it's about a girl who moves around so much that she has never found any true friends, and her family slowly falls apart. She's "kidnapped" by her aunt and uncle and taken to Switzerland. She attends a boarding school where she meets tons of friends, and finally figures out who she is. And, the descriptions of Switzerland, and her boarding school, and all the hilarious and interesting friends she meets, it made me want to live there! Try this book out and try the other Creech books, too!
Rating: Summary: A school in Lugano Review: Thirteen-year old Dominica Santolina Doone, Dinnie for short, has been "kidnapped" by her Aunt Sandy and Uncle Max. She is swiped from her troubled life in the states and is brought to Lugano, Switzerland to a new boarding school for kids from all different nationalities. Dinnie is not ready to face this "opportunity," or at least that's what her parent's call it, alone. Dinnie meets new friends and discovers life is full of "bloomabilties."
Rating: Summary: Dinnie adapts to life in Switzerland after being "kidnapped" Review: Bloomability a wonderful book written by Sharon Creech, truly deserves a Newberry Award. I think that everyone should read this book. Dinnie, a girl who has never had a permanent home is "kidnapped" by her aunt and uncle. They take her to Switzerland where her uncle is going to be the headmaster of a new school. Dinnie hates her new home at first, but then makes many freinds and starts to enjoy the school. Eventually, Christmas break comes, and there is almost a disaster that would change Dinnie's life. I give this book 5 stars and 2 thumbs up.
Rating: Summary: The world of Switzerland Review: I have to admit that this is Sharon Creech's best book ever. This compelling story opened me to the beautiful world of Switzerland. It was interesting how Dinnie described her surroundings. I can really relate to Dinnie the dot and her bubble. While reading this book I learned how much friendship can mean. Another lesson I've learned from reading this book is that no matter where you are or who you're with you can have a good time. If Dinnie was a real person I'd like to meet her. She was such a wonderful character. If you haven't read this book I would definatly recommend you do. I hope Sharon Creech writes a sequel!
Rating: Summary: I loved it!! Review: This book was about a young girl who's father is constantly moving his family all around the country to find work. Then one day this girls aunt and uncle take her back home with them to go to boarding school. She journeys through a world of possibilities, tradgity, and joy.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant!!!! Review: This book is brilliant! I dont think its about rich people at all--I think its about all different kinds of people and how you look at life like in that story that Guthrie (in the book) tells about the 2 prisonors. You can look at the dirt or you can look at the sky. I loved that! I loved all the characters, and all the different nationallities but especialy Dinnie who is watching and learning just like real kids.
Rating: Summary: Great, but Creech has written greater books... Review: I have loved all of Sharon Creech's book since my teacher read Walk Two Moons to my class. We all adored that book, and went on to read Absolutely Normal Chaos, and Chasing Redbird. I think one thing you love about the books is how they all seem to ty in with another book she's written. I gave this book 4 stars because while it is a good book, I do think it could be better. It really didn't have much of a romance story that she usually includes and it didn't seem as unified, like many other readers commented. It's still a pretty good book about a girl who moved around a lot and then is sent to a Switzerland boarding school. I would reccomend this book to anyone who likes Sharon Creech books, but I am looking forward to the next book and hoping it will be a little better. All in all, a nice story that pulls you in to it.
Rating: Summary: This book annoyed me on many levels! Review: This book annoyed me more than most any book I've read in years. I really failed to see what the message was the author was trying to make. Perhaps that many of life's problems can be solved if you have the money or the luck to somehow be sent to a fancy boarding school abroad? Or that rich people who have travled the world have much more insight and are much deeper and more interesting than us poor folks? Or that if you have the money to get really into skiing, it will change your life? The most annoying part of all for me was the strange letters sent to Dinnie from her relatives back home. They seem to me to serve no purpose but to show us how narrow and boring "regular" folk are. I must admit I have not read other works by this author, and maybe that made a difference in how I viewed this book, and I must admit the writing itself was skilled, but I really would not recommend this book to anyone.
