Summary: poignant, scary, visionary
Review: As a 50'ish reader from the east coast, the goddesses scare me and appeal, too. I feel sad and worried about the chasm between these worlds and mine. The alternate family visions are warming, but many of the goddesses seem to me isolated and so-o-o vulnerable. I fear for them and for the dark sense they thrive in or struggle with. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to hear a voice of youth today. I won't soon forget these kids.

Summary: READ THIS BOOK!!!
Review: The stories are all full of creativity and imagination. They are gritty and fascinating and just sticky-wicked. I've read each story about ten times each and I still love them all. Each one is unique and original but they are all magical. Francesca Lia Block is an amazing author!

Summary: A facinating walk out of reallity!
Review: Thease stories are like punk fairy tales. You understand human thinking and reasoning more from a group of people who, who, oh what am I saying! I just should get to the point these stories are incredible. "Dragons in mahattan," was my favorite. But "twettie pie" tried to tell a serious moral about war in sugary letters and ended up sounding syrupy. All other stories were good.

Summary: A Book for All Moods, and Helps You Through Your Days
Review: I thought Girl Goddess #9 was the best book I have ever read! It made me cry, and laugh. I brought the book to a camping trip I went on once, and we read the stories together around the campfire. I must say that was the highlight of everyones weekend. I recieved the book as a gift, and at first I had just put it away. Then one day I decided to read it, and coudn't put it down. Now I must have read each story about 50 times. My personal favorite is Raven, and my friends favorite is The Canyon. But they are all great stories! I would recomend this book to anyone and everyone!

Summary: I would definately give this book to my daughters!
Review: I read this book about 6 months ago and still haven't found one that I like as much (not including the other Block books of course!)I related SO much to this book! She writes with such an open mind and heart. Her words are musical and make 100 pages seem like 10. I always had these same ideas in my head, but am not able to put them in words that would capture the meaning like she did. I felt as though she was backing up every opinion that I have. When I have a daughter and she is of ripe age I will difinately read this to her. It promotes a sense of acceptance for everyone. I love it and could read the stories over and over again. From laughing to crying, this book focused on every real and serious problem in a comical yet sensitive way. As you can see, I loved this book.

Summary: Great Book!
Review: I thought this book was pretty good. I bought it because a lot of people were recommending it to me. Some stories were alright, but some were fantastic. Block is truly a "goddess". I think anyone over the age of 12 should read this book!

Summary: Bestest Book In the Entire World!
Review: Ouch! Trying to keep this review under 1,000 words is going to be difficult. I love this book so much. Alabaster Duchess is definately me. Most characters in books are thin and beautiful, not different from anyone. This book is so kewl though cause it has a fat chick! It chronolizes each age from grrl to full blown goddess:) I couldn't put this book down, I read this and other Block books and got an A on my paper, and I am 15. Her books are for young adults but anyone could enjoy them and would continue to enjoy them forever. Francesca Lia Block is the most gifted writer and this is the best book in the History of the world.

Summary: absolutley wonderful
Review: I love, love, love this book. I first read it last year and it's been one of my favorites ever since. It shows the many sides that girls today have, and I reccomend it to everyone. And though it is written for teenage girls, adults and boys will enjoy it too. It is beautifully written and is not afraid to address many issues more mainstream writers shy away from. You must read this book!
