Summary: A heart warming novel!
Review: In this wonderful book, Meg envies everything about her older sister-Molly. She seems to have all the luck in friends and popularity! But when a terrible tragedy occurs, she finds out she loves her sister more than she thought she did

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A beautifully written, powerful book. My all time favorite!
Review: Oh gosh! Just remebering this book makes me feel as if I have overcome a terrible tragedy. When I was reading this book I sobbed and felt as if I was feeling a bit of what Meg was. This book is best described as powerful. It was incredibly sad and touching. It makes you realize that life really is precious and we must not take it for granted. I would reccomend this book to all girls who feel they need an attitude change or just want a tender, well written book.

Summary: A wonderful, yet sad book!
Review: A SUMMER TO DIE was one of the best books I've ever read. Meg envies everything about her sister, Molly, and even begins to get mad at Molly because she is so pretty. But when Molly gets sick, Meg realizes she didn't know what she had until she was loosing it

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A very good book!
Review: I thought that this was a very good book! It flowed very well, and the story was written very smoothly. I thought that it lacked excitement now and then, but usually there was a good balance of intense scenes, and non-intense scenes. I thought that the book was not really very sad, but was more scary. I would freak out if I woke up and my sister was sleeping in a pool of blood!! I think the book puts good and pretty pictures in your mind, and I suggest this book to you!-Katharine Manning, American School In Japan, 6th Grade.

Summary: A sad but wonderful book!
Review: A Summer to Die is a great book. It is about two sisters that have just moved to a new house in the country. They have finally settled in to their new home when Molly, Meg's beutiful, popular older sister starts having nosbleeds. They are a pain, because Molly gets all the attention and is constantly worried about how she looks. But when MMolly's hair starts falling out from the drugs she takes, and she gets stuck in the hospital again from a MAJOR nosebleed, Meg starts to realize what her parents knew all along. That Molly had cancer and was going to die. This is a sad but also happy book, because while Molly dies, there is a new beginning when a baby is born. I loved this book, and you will too!

Summary: Wonderful--and it holds up!
Review: I read this book in 6th grade (or so) when it first come out. It had an impact on me (I feared a friend had leukemia because she was getting nosebleeds), and I never forgot it. I reread it yesterday and realized how powerful and well-written it truly is. It's an amazing first novel (from someone who went on to write other of my favorites).

While the book rarely mentions Meg's school life (and never any contemporary friends), it still conveys a sense of her whole life. I cried for her, for Molly, for their whole family. And I was angry with the parents for not sharing the seriousness of Molly's illness with Meg sooner.

It's a keeper (and I wish I'd kept my copy!)

Summary: I.M. Intelligent
Review: This book was a good book. It was very well written and rather enjoyable. I recommend this book to middle school girls because it is an easier book to read and is about two sisters.
A Summer To Die took place in the "boonies", or out of town, mostly. The Chalmers have to move because the father has to write a book and needs quiet. The move is only temporary but still the two girls dislike it. Eventually they adjust.
The protagonist, Meg Chalmers is a friendly, average girl who is into photography. She and her older sister, Molly, fight frequently, like any other two siblings. One day after they have gotten into one of their predicaments Molly gets one of her nosebleeds. She gets these nosebleeds when she is stressed. This one is not like all the others though, and Molly has to be rushed to the hospital. The doctor says that her blood does not clot right and gives her pills to take. Molly starts to change dramatically; she is more moody and easily set off. She also does not have the same interests, such as babies, boys, and looking pretty, as she did previous to taking the medicine. She takes up new hobbies such as flowers, which she never would have done before.
Overall I found this book to be very good. It has happy, sad, suspenseful and very intriguing parts to it. Middle School girls would probably enjoy this book most. A Summer To Die was a good book that was enjoyable and fun to read.

Summary: Amazing Book!
Review: This book is amazing. The first time I read it I was 10 years old. I am 23, I read the book for the second time last week, and it is still one of my all time favorite books. It's an emotional story about life and death. You really feel the characters and the farther you read the more "real" they become Easy to read, easy to fall in love with. I think this book is a must read for any age, but be prepared to shed a few tears!

Summary: Wow!
Review: I read this book (reluctantly) for a book report in middle school close to 12 years ago. I cannot tell you how much it touched me. What a beautiful story. Perfect for girls just entering that "awkward stage". I won't give away the story line, but it inspired my love for memory quilts and given me a true appreciation for my loved ones.
