Summary: Excellent book, with immense suspense!
Review: Deathwatch is an exciting and enthralling novel; it all starts with a boy named Ben. Ben is a young man who is the hunting guide for a very rich business man from California. This rich man, Madec, finally gets his once-in-a-life-time chance to legally hunt big horn sheep out in the desert. Ben and Madec are searching for big horn when they both think they see one. Madec shoots. Upon reaching the site where they presumed a living big horn once stood, they realize that what had been shot was, in actuality, an old prospector. Being an honest person, Ben wants to report the accident; but Madec does not see it as simply as Ben. Madec sees it as a waste of time. Madec offers Ben money in an attempt to persuade Ben to ignore the incident. Too much for Ben, he rejects Madec's offer and tells him that they must notify the authorities. After quite a long argument Madec ends up forcing Ben to take off all his clothes except his pants and walk the 30 some miles home. Madec changes his mind and decides that it is too risky to even give Ben a chance to survive the journey home; consequently, Madec follows Ben everywhere to make sure that he doesn't get home alive.

The characters are very well portrayed in this novel. Each feeling and action is described so fully that the reader actually feels as if they are right beside the victim; at times they might even feel as if they are the victim. The author truly brings to life pain and suffering. Each character's analysis and thoughts about their situation are so well depicted that the reader is left dumbfounded. Ben's integrity creates an immense amount of suspense over the course of Deathwatch. It is amazing to see how Madec treats his previous companion and hunting guide. Life is no longer an option for Ben, at least in Madec's eyes. Ben must find some way of getting out of this mess. As this story unfolds situations do not lessen in complexity for Ben. Ben must now rely fully on his knowledge of the human anatomy and the desert if he wishes to survive.

Summary: Daethwatch rocks
Review: Daethwatch is a very cool book and very well written. Robb White is a great author to write a book as good as this. It all started when Ben a young man took up a job as a guide for a hunter named Madec, Ben and Madec go and hunt for bighorn yet after a accident it turned into a fight for survival because Madec killed an old prospecter and Ben threatend to tell the police so Madec pointed the gun at Ben and told him to take off his clothes. Ben did fearing for his life and started to run and Madec followed him in the jeep they brought and started to open fire after two days in the final hours of his life Ben climbed a butte and found water in a cave this is when the book got a little boring but picked up again when Ben was in jail. All in all this was a great book that I could read over and over.

Summary: survival of the fittest
Review: A Review by Daniel

On a hot, sunny, summer day in the desert, Ben decides to help a hunter named Madec out on finding and tracking a Big Horn Sheep. Ben wouldn't normally go on a hunting trip with this man, but Ben needs the money he is offering to pay for his college tuition. Something terrible happens and Ben finds himself being hunted by an insane man with a .358 magnum gun. Ben has no clothes, food and a limited amount of time before he runs out of water and dies.

There definitely wasn't much to dislike about this book. The suspense of not knowing how Ben was going to get out of each situation was what kept me from closing up the book. Robb White writes in a way so that it is easy to follow the story and picture everything in great detail. I also like how Robb White didn't just end the book where (I believe) the climax of the story is. He almost has two endings and it keeps the reader entertained all the way through the book. The only thing wrong with this book is that it's a little bit short (220 pgs).

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who finds themselves interested in adventure novels such as Hatchet by Gary Paulsen and Holes. If you liked those books, this book has a lot of the same attributes in that it's suspenseful and easy to follow and imagine the different situations.

Summary: Brilliant! Suspenseful! Amazing!
Review: In this brilliant, suspenseful, masterpiece, famous author Robb White exempts his amazing talent and ability to not only write, but to draw the reader into the book. This story takes the life of an older boy named Ben and tells his difficulties when he meets the man who he will be touring to hunt Big Horns in the desert. All that could possibly go wrong does, as the book's jolt of excitement carries through the heat of the desert in Deathwatch.
The main focus of this book is about Ben and his problems when he meets up with Maddeck. Ben was expecting a nice, pleasant, hunting trip with this man, but got much more than he bargained for. Not too far into the story, a major turning point happens. Something horrible has happened and Ben, being the good, honest, man he is, wanted to report it to the local authorities. After Maddeck gave him a choice to die now or to 'start walking', Ben begins his way down the rocky cliff. Deprived of clothes, food, and most of all, water, Ben struggles for about a day in the desert until luck finds him. This keeps Ben alive, but just barely due to his cuts, burning, and heavy dehydration. Robb White keeps you wondering what will happen to Ben until the last page of the book. He draws you into it and makes you want to shout out justice, but will justice be served?
One way I would describe this book would be brilliant. It contains so many amazing qualities. Robb White does a phenomenal job in writing this novel, and gave it so many great qualities. Another example I would use is how the book grabs the reader's attention until the very end; another great characteristic. For example, at the end of chapter 7 you are left with, 'The light burned his eyes when at last he opened them and looked around, his sight blurred and hazy.' There are many small thinks like that throughout the story that create a hunger to turn the page and begin a whole new chapter. Along with this, I would say there were very few, if any, dull points in this book. It was a great, quick, read that I would recommend to all of my friends.
Another characteristic this book is responsible for is the great suspense. Again, the author did a great job and kept you on the edge of your seat while reading. Robb has a way with creating a certain kind of craving to want to read more; almost like the book is addictive. You will see when you pick up a copy that once you start reading, you won't let yourself put it down!
Overall, Robb White did a great job of discouraging critics, because there is absolutely nothing wrong with this book. He continues to please the reader throughout the story with adventure, suspense, and excitement. Deathwatch is a definite must-read for anyone who is looking for a quick reading, great, book.

Summary: Exhilarating Book Must Read!!
Review: Rob White comes out with another exiting and life threatening book titled Deathwatch. This book is about a college student named Ben. Ben lives in a poor town in the middle of the desert. To stay in college Ben has to team up with a rich hunter/ businessman named Madec. Deathwatch portrays how one man can take everything from another, even his spirit. For several days Ben knows what it feels like to be hunted by a man with a .358 magnum without clothes, food, and water. The only thing that keeps Ben alive is his willingness to survive. Ben has to use both muscles and brains to win his freedom from Madec. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Summary: Intense, well written drama
Review: This is the only book I have read by Robb White which is not set during World War II, but the author brings to it all of the brilliant characterizations and gripping situations which you will find in his other novels. This book is literally impossible to put down. White's descriptions of the way people think and act while under extreme duress are especially realistic and intense. I highly reccomend this book for anyone interested in a true page-turner. Unfortunately it seems to be the only one of White's books still in print. I guess people aren't all that interested in WWII stories anymore, which is a shame, because everything by this author deserves high praise.

Summary: THIS BOOK SUCKS!!!!!
Review: If I could give this book zero, I would. This book is insulting, cruel, and boring. This book is about a guy, named Madec who is going around the desert hunting for bighorn sheep and is paying Ben to show him where they are. All Madec wants to have one for, is to put up on his office wall. I won't tell you the rest, but, I'll just say this, "You know how they say that the books teachers choose for NOVEL STUDIES are supposed to be boring?, Well, my teacher is 49 years old, and he won't even choose it!" I'm warning you now, !!!!DON'T READ THIS BOOK!!!!

Summary: Desert Life
Review: A Review by Zach

This book is about a man named Ben who is on a hunting trip with this man named Madec. They are hunting bighorn sheep. They are out in the Nevada desert where Ben is getting played to take this man around the area since Ben knows the area very well. Madec thinks he sees a bighorn and shoots it but really it was an old prospector. He accidentally kills him! Know, Madec is trying to talk his way out of Ben to get him not to report this to the police. Madec has different plans though. Madec turns the table on Ben where Ben has to strip down to his underwear and has to walk back to town that is 45 miles east and 35 miles west and all desert. Ben must think fast or this might be his last chance on life!!

I really didn't like the writing format in this book. The words were quite difficult to comprehend but other than that I really liked the descriptiveness the book gave my insightful mind. I wish their was more action in the beginning like with shooting animals and stuff but it was all good with me. The characters were well described and actually painted a picture in my head when I read it. The description in this book was really the strong point in this book. Once I started reading it I couldn't put the book down. I plan on reading more and more titles from this author!

I recommend this book to any one in need of a great book. The words might get al littler difficult. But all in all I recommend to everyone!!!

Summary: Grainy Detail
Review: An impressive tale of the physical and mental struggle of a man at odds against two enemys: the desert and Madec: the man who is hunting him. A portrayal of hate and will to survive; this book accurately reveals the mental struggles that take place in both intense danger and everyday life. Deathwatch also paints this struggle with intense detail that is occasionally gruesome albiet extremelly interesting and thrilling. I savored it all. And enjoy it while it lasts. Some of the following reviews reveal too much about the story and ruined it for me. Watch Out.
