Summary: Excellent!
Review: I am a 14-year old Australian who lives in Canada and this book really seemed to bring me back to Australia. If you don't know Australia, you'll like it anyway. An Australian friend recommended it to me in one of her letters (thanks Haley) and when I found it in the library here I borrowed it. This book is very compelling. It makes you think about it whenever you're away from it, and you really cheer for the characters and feel excited, sad and scared with them, even though for me it wasn't exactly un-put-downable. It has excellent characterization. I really love the idea of your country being invaded while you were away and didn't even know it! It's creepy. That would have made me read it even if my friend hadn't recommended it. I am going to read every one of Marsden's books now, just like I decided for Philip Pullman after reading The Golden Compass (my favorite book ever), but unfortunately this was the only one in the library. I might have to buy them. I recommend this book VERY highly for ages 13-up. The violence is not too excessive, don't worry about that. I mean there are lots of violent scenes but they aren't told in a gory or sickening way. There is also romance in it, but the plot doesn't center around that at all, so it's good whether or not you enjoy romance. Please read it! PS. Does anyone know how many books there are in the complete series and what is the order? Have they all been published?

Summary: An amazing, astonishing, thrilling book.
Review: I first read this book about a year ago. It stuck in my mind, and I had to read it again. Then, when I went to Australia, I discovered it was a series. It was so thrilling, I lost my breath. Thats how good the book was.

Summary: ADDICTIVE!!!!!!
Review: I got the sixth book, 'The Night is for Hunting',as soon as it came out in Australia-1 Oct. Now I'm dying because I have to wait untill Oct. 1999, when the seventh, and final book comes out. It is so unfair that we have to wait this long, because everyone has become best friends with Ellie and the gang, and can you imagine waiting a whole year before finding out what happened to your best friends? I pity you poor Americans who have to wait twice as long. Read the reviews- believe them- buy them for your kids- brothers and sisters, parents- they are the most fantastic books I have ever read and I reccomend them to anyone!! This series follows the lives of a group of teenagers after their country has been invaded. It will have you holding your breath, biting your nails, crying, or laughing along with the characters. Buy it!!!!!!

Summary: Grab it!!!
Review: This is the best series I've ever read and all those who haven't read it read now because it is captivating and has kept me reading for hours after I should have been fast asleep. Get your hands on this series now and it will be well worth your while. I'm nearly finished the latest in the series (The Night is for Hunting) and it's great. Once again Grab this series before... before...before...um... I don't know It sells a trillion copies and costs a hundred bucks a book just grab it before it's too late!!!

Summary: An excellent book by an excellent author.
Review: This book has it all. Suspence, friendship, action, and much more. Since reading this, I have read the rest of the books in the series and found them even more thrilling. To anyone who hasn't read this or any other books in this series, I suggest that you get your hands on one and sit back for the ride. John Marsden has accomplished a wonderful book that captivates its audience.

Summary: Ten stars!
Review: This was the first John Marsden book I read, about six months ago, and since then, I have read all of his books at the school and city library at least twice, the war books at least five times! If that isn't a compliment, I don't know what is! Read them all; I'm getting the new books the second they come out in New Zealand, long before they do in the U.S.A!

Summary: The Book that became the Series that became the Legend
Review: Even though I have read this book over and over it still feels like you have experienced it for the first time. It even feels like that with every read, the experience grows on you. The fantastic, yet amazingly probable, tale of the teenage will to fight and survive in an invaded Australia is truly magnificent. Ellie and her friends' never-say-die attitude is compelling. Not only that but the ingenuity of John Marsden to accurately pick up on the female teenage persona is truly the work of a special author. Stumbling on this book has been the best mistake I've ever made.

Summary: This is the best book I have ever read in my entire life!!
Review: Wow. That's all I can say!!! This book starts off with six ordinary teenagers deciding to go camping, harmless enough huh? WRONG!! When they return their town (Wirrawee) has been taken over by foreign soldiers and the whole town is being held captive! What follows is a fierce struggle of 6 kids just trying to survive...and get back what's rightfully theirs. It's so realistic at times I could have sworn I was there right beside them, thinking of plans, running from soldiers, or even blowing up bridges! I'm now following up on the series, as are all my mates at school. If you haven't read it, get to it!

Summary: Fast-moving, exciting, action, an excellent read
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and have continued with the series, being far from disappointed. I recommend these books (the Whole series) to all avid readers and anyone who enjoys an all-round good book full of action, adventure, intrigue, happiness, despair and friendship.
