Summary: Fantastic !
Review: One of the best books I've ever read! This book is fantastic! When Ellie and her friends go bush, they come back to find that their country has been invaded. They fight back against the unknown enemy, and... I wont tell you, it'll spoil the book! I'm searching our school library every day so I can read "The Night is for Hunting" and I can't wait until the seventh and final book comes out later this year. If you read "Tomorow, When the War Began" you won't be disappointed! I also strongly suggest that you read the next five which are out. I think my favourites are "Tomorrow When the War Began"(1), " The Third Day, the Frost"(A Killing Frost)(3), and "Burning For Revenge"(5) These are all awesome books. Read them!

Summary: DON'T MISS this enthralling story
Review: An amazing, AMAZING, story that lets your imagination run wild and takes your mind on a truly emotional journey. I read all 5 books in the space of 1 week I was that caught up; the next day after I bought Tomorrow, when the war began, i went back and bought the next four in the series because i was so in love with the characters. I still I feel as if I am frozen in time, sitting in that cold, dark paddock (at the end of Darkness Be My Friend) and I am waiting until the magical moment when I can rejoin the characters and follow them on more adventures in the 6th book. By the way I am 21 so I believe anyone of any age could enjoy these inspiational, motivating books by the brilliant John Marsden.

Summary: What An Awesome Book!
Review: Tomorrow, When The War Began is a great book. It is told by one of the main characters Ellie. A group of seven teenagers takes a camping trip to Hell. It's not really Hell, it's just a place that is isolated from the rest of the town. They have to travel down "Satan's Steps" to get there. The teens return home only to find that their country has been invaded. The group runs into another friend. They load up supplies and go back to Hell, now as a group of eight. I like this book because it is full of excitment. It keeps you on the end of your seat to the very last page. This book os also full of drama and a little bit of romance. There really wasn't any part of the book that I disliked. This book is unlike any others I have read. I loved this book and recommend ot to all teens, boys and girls.

Summary: The start of a series that has the world reading
Review: Ellie has a story that must be told about her and her six friends: Homer, Fiona, Lee, Robyn, Corrie and Kevin. They thought they were just going to spend a week in the bush, but all of that has changed. They emerge from the bush to find that Australia has been invaded, and that their whole town has been taken over. They are located in a pivotal place for the invading army, and the town is full of hostages and prisoners. Their best choice is to go bush again, to seek refuge in a place called Hell.

I started reading this series when the fifth book was released and had an agonising wait for the sixth and seventh books to be released. This series is one of the best ones that I have ever come across written especially for teen readers - and John Marsden writes a gritty and realistic fiction that leaves you exhausted and satisfied at the same time. Ellie and her friends will win you over and make you hate them a dozen times over as their stories progress.

This book will grab you and shake and make you wonder how safe you really are. In this case the country that was invaded was Australia, but it could just as easily have been New Zealand, or Hawaii, or Britain, or ... At times I cried, at times I cheered, and at other times I just read about their lives and was grateful it was not me living that life.

You have got to read this series, even if it is just so that you can talk to your friends about it. The one word of warning is that you have to read the series in order or it will ruin parts of the story and be somewhat confuding.

Summary: Amazing
Review: I will be honest. I didn't want to read this series. A lot of people I know had read the books as they came out, and raved about them, but I thought at the time that I didn't want to read another war series...which is all that i thought they were.

Turns out I was wrong.

I got a copy of Tomorrow When the War Began in a pile of second hand books from my Aunt. It was the summer holidays and I thought I might as well read it. I'm 18, by the way, studying at University, and I had previously read some of John Marsden's books and found them to be absolutely amazing. From the moment I picked up Tomorrow When The War Began, I was hooked.

John Marsden is without a doubt one the best author that I have come across. His portayal of Ellie and the rest of the gang, with their faults, their emotions...everything about them, is so amazingly real.

Tomorrow is in no way just another war book, as I previously thought. If you are over the age of 15, I would recommend it, especially for those up to the age of about 25...but even beyond that. After reading Tomorrow, I proceeded to buy the rest of the set, one by one, every day for a week. I was even getting so desperate to know what was going to happen next that I was buying and starting them in my lunch breaks at work. I have since basically forced one of my good friends, who also wasn't really into the idea of reading them, into starting, and she actually put down Lord of the Rings to finish the Tomorrow Series instead. My mum also read them all in the space of a week.

Being Australian (I live not far from the bush in an area where places like Hell actually exist), Tomorrow is a book I can relate to very much. Anyone who doesn't read the series, and has the chance to, is really missing out on something great.

Oh and for the people who wanted the names of the rest of the books:

Tomorrow When The War Began
The Dead of the Night
Darkness, Be My Friend
The Third Day, the Frost
Burning for Revenge
The Night Is For Hunting
The Other Side of Dawn

ADDED ON THE 14TH NOVEMBER 2003: I THOUGHT YOU MIGHT LIKE TO KNOW THAT JOHN MARSDEN HAS JUST RELEASED THE FIRST BOOK IN A NEW SERIES: THE ELLIE CHRONICLES, WHICH IS SET AFTER THE TOMORROW SERIES! I JUST BOUGHT THE FIRST BOOK "WHILE I LIVE". (I NOW HAVE NO MONEY LEFT) IT'S GOING TO BE AGONISING WAITING FOR THE REST OF THIS NEW SERIES...IT'S ONLY IN HARDCOVER SO FAR, AND THE BOOKSTORE SAID THEY HAD NO FUTURE RELEASE DATE FOR A PAPERBACK COPY.

Summary: breathtaking read
Review: One word: Excellent. Tomorrow, When the War Began and sequels would have to be one of the greatest series' that I have ever read. It has everything, from violence, to romance, to drama, to sadness, to jokes, to the completely uncalled for. A definite 5-star... if i could i would give it 6.

Summary: Thoughtful, interesting young adult series
Review: Our family came across the Marsden series while traveling for several months in Australia. We listened to some of the books on tape and others we read individually. The stories were exciting enough to keep us interested, yet addressed teen topics well. As a mom, I did not have to fast forward through the mild sexual encounters. They discuss substance abuse, sex, safe sex, and other topics in a way that is accessible for teens.

The stories show a progression over time that is believable and captivating. I often think back to the main character and how she would deal with our new world order...

Anyway, I am buying the set for my nephew for Xmas. I highly recommend these for teens.

Summary: Great survival story
Review: Tomorrow, When the War Began is a very interesting book. John Marsden wrote it in 1995. Ellie a teenager from Australia is bored to death over the summer. She decides to get some friends and take a camping trip in the outback brush. Upon returning home, something is terribly wrong. The dialog is great, the way he has the characters talking in true Australian language. Another part I like is how John has Ellie have internal passion for two different boys on the trip.
If you enjoy an entertaining with some suspense, and survival, you should read Tomorrow, When the War Began. I really enjoyed this book, and would of never guessed the ending. I think you will enjoy it also.

Summary: A Great Piece Of Australian Literature.
Review: This series, (Seven books in total), is the best series I have ever read.
The story remains interesting, with enough action to keep young adults interested.
The threat of war is always an interesting topic to read about, especially when a group of teenagers are thrown into the mix and work together as a team -- this series is, at times, very inspiring, and the attention paid to character detail is very much appreciated and gives the series great credibility.

P.S. These reviews are for opinions, not for summarised versions of the novel/s themselves.
That last review from Jessica made this book sound bad, since she doesn't have a firm grasp of the English language, and therefore cannot construct a favourable review.
