Rating: Summary: wowza Review: Because ot the title of the book, you can tell that it's about a plane crash. This book is non-stop action. It goes back and forth. One minute you're reading about a little girl named Teddie who is flying to her parents alone. The next minute you're reading about a twin named Carly who is flying home to her twin. And all of a sudden the plane is crashing. One of the main character is Heidi. She is the owner of the house where the plane crashes. She finds herself in a sitution in which were she either has to run home and call for help or go help some of the vitims. Does she make the right choice or does she make the wrong one? Read the book if you want to find out.I really liked this book because it did not just focus on one character. It has a lot of different characters. This book made me think what I would do in this situation. It actually made me feel like I was right next to the characters when this happened. But the thing I really liked about this book was that it was based in minutes. Like at 12:00 you're next to a girl talking about a quater taped to her hand and at the same time in a different paragraph a girl is talking about her twin sister. You will love the suspence of this book.
Rating: Summary: Flight #116 is Down by Caroline B. Cooney Review: Flight #116 is Down is an extremely well done adventure intertwined with everyday life stories. Cooney does an excellent job displaying the fears and tragedies of an accident without putting in a lot of unnecessary gore. As you read it you will ride on a roller coaster of emotions and your attention will be held captive until the exhausting finish, making this book a classic page-turner. While indulging yourself into the pages you will meet many characters full of personality and life. Each has their own story and is in some way related to the plane in this book, "Flight #116." Their lives however come together when a 747 comes crashing down onto a large estate. Then all at once everyone's life seems to play a part in the survival of the passengers aboard the plane. Read carefully as you learn just how devastating an accident like this can be. Believe me, it will take your breath away.
Rating: Summary: Cooney amazied me again! Review: This is the third book of Caroline B. Cooney's I've read. It lived up to the expectation that I had come to associate with Cooney's books. I think it was a wonderful portrayal of people's will to survive and how, sometimes, that will fades. Heidi, the protagonist,is 16 and lives in this small city: Nearing River in Conneticut. She lives in a beautiful mansion with a huge backyard. Her parents are always away so she has it mostly to herself and Mrs. Camp, the housekeeper. Patrick,18, also lives in this small town, if you can call it that. He is a trained EMT at the age of 16. His father is a mantinence man that, as a volenteer,is also a fireman and his mom works as an English teacher. This town is so small that they don't have an official police department, medical emergany staff or an official fire department. It was all done with volenteers. On Saturday, 5:41 P.M. Flight 116 en route to New York has crashed in the woods behind Heidi's house. Heidi is in shock for a while and then finds strength to climb back to her house. She calls 911 and Patrick's mother answers. She puts out a call to all the scanners the Junior EMTs have and tells them to check it out. Patrick is the first on site. It really did happen. Together Patrick, Heidi and volenteers from all over the state come to help. In the midst of this nightmare thats reality people come up with reasons to laugh, to become friends and ways to fall in love. Buy the book to find out what really happens. Be there with Heidi and Patrick as they rescue people. Be there with the passengers and the people who are waiting anxiously for flight 116 to land. Be there when they find out the horrible news and feel the pain, the love and the laughter. It truly is a wonderful book in my opinion.

Rating: Summary: one of the best books I've ever read Review: I've always been into planes and plane crashes, and when I saw Flight #116 is down, just by looking at it I knew it was a great book. When I started reading, I got more interested in the peoples stories then in the plane, how Patrick wants so much for something excitingto happen in his life, how Hiedi dosen't do very well in school and how her life is kinda blah, and Daniels parents have split up, and life dosen't really matter to him anymore, and how his brother, Tuck, isn't the same without thier parents being together, and how Teddie worries too much about things( she's only 5 ), and how the snotty Darienne is wrapped up with her own silly life, and can't(and won't)care about anything else, and Carly just wants to do something with her life. All of these things are reality, and the book taught me so much of how life can be crucial, and give gifts. In other words, it has its ups and downs. And when the plane crashed, it gave a wonderful view of how life has bravery and emmotions. Its sad but I think what Caroline B. Cooney is trying to tell people, and not only entertain them, but to tell them that this is reality. How a plane crash can do so much to a persons life, when there are people dying out there in that world, and all people can think about is themselves. I've got to hand it to her, she's a wonderful author.
Rating: Summary: Teenage Terror & Triumph Review: This is my favorite of Cooney's novels, and my students(grades 6th - 8th) love it as well. Cooney places her characters in the most traumatic situations(in this book, a plane crash) and then Mrs. Cooney reminds us, as the drama unfolds, that these are still young adults with the usual teen years' concerns. Kids love this book because it holds the suspense and contains some (decently depictedt); "blood & guts"; yet it keeps its listeners' attention more through the audience's identification with the book's characters. The only "challenge" with this book and young readers is the continuous switch in point of views. Cooney's style allows the reader to know the fears, thoughts, and also flaws of all these individuals brought together by this tragedy. Much like it would be in a crisis situation, all these points of views are going at once. I found that reading this book out loud was more effective with my overall class of diverse readers. I would love to hear from other teachers especially who have read this book with their students. P.S. - This book is so realistic that if I had experienced a plane crash...I don't think I could read it.
Rating: Summary: excellent Review: i've always been a fan of Caroline B. Cooney's writing since i read Driver's Ed in the 8th grade, but this book has to be one of her better novels. I'm a pretty slow reader but i tore through this one in about 2 days. It's really gripping. The story line moves really quickly. It's a wonderful novel, and definitely well written.
Rating: Summary: Edge of your seat novel Review: I read this book in 1 day. It is so fantastically written, that you don't want to do anything else but be captivated by the book. It deals with teenage emotions of being rejected and needed at the same time. It has such a great climax, and an even better cool off.
Rating: Summary: FIREFIGHTER WAITING TO PROVE HIM-SELF Review: This book has to be one of the best books I'v ever read. I have been a firefighter for over almost 2 years I'm still waiting to prove my-self just like Patrick wanted too. Then he got the chance to prove him-self when the plane crashed at The Dove House. Caroline B. Cooney is my favorite authors.
