Summary: Boooooooooooring!
Review: Ann Rinaldi is one of my favorite author's, so I grabbed "The Journal of Jasper Jonathan Pierce: A Pilgrim Boy" as fast as I could. Most Mayflower stories are about life on the boat itself, while this book told about life on the Mayflower, life on their new land, and meeting with the Indians. It did drag at times, but nonetheless, it kept my attention. A great way to learn history. I recommend.

Summary: THE MOST BORING BOOK I'VE EVER READ!
Review: I admire and appreciate Ann Rinaldi's work, but i felt that this book was ill prepared and unoriginal. This book wasn't very exciting or emotionally provoking. The main character was trite and very redundant.

Summary: My review
Review: I just finished reading The Journal of Jasper Jonathan Pierce. It was a historical fiction book. I didn't like the book, because it was a boring book and because it was a journal and I don't get those kinds of books.
The book was about a boy named Jonathan that had to leave his brother Tom because he was going to America to practice his religion and to baptize too. When he got to America they found out that there were Indians there.
Jonathon was a very nice and brave, he stayed strong. They were on the Mayflower.

Summary: A Learning Experience
Review: I thought that this was a really good book, but not quite five star material. I learned a lot of stuff that teachers never really mention in school about the pilgrims. The only down side I found about this book was that it tended to drag at times. All in all, I really liked it. It teaches you a lot about history, and if you really like that kind of stuff, you'll like this book.

Summary: Pretty Good Book
Review: Jasper Jonathan Pierce, an orphaned indentured servant in search of a better life and new opportunities, leaves his brother and sisters behind and sets sail on the Mayflower without any family or friends. When the boat arrives at the Promised Land, the natives aren't quite sure why these people are here. Soon after Jonathan and everyone have settled in, the natives attack their cabin, but the sailors had muskets and were prepared for this kind of reaction. I didn't like the way that it took so long to get to America. I would recommend it for ages 10 and up who like history.

Summary: A great book
Review: Like all other books in this series, which are diaries of boys in America, it was an enjoyable book. It stayed true to history while adding some interesting perspectives to the story. I enjoyed reading this book because it wasn't nearly as dull as many books on the subject that I've read. I won't give away the plot, because I hate it when people do that in reveiws, but I will tell you that Ann Rinaldi is a great aauthor of children's historical fiction and you to will enjoy the book.

Summary: An excellant addition to the My Name is America series.
Review: Orphaned when they were little, fourteen-year-old Jasper and his younger brother, Tom, scavanged on the streets of London, until they were fortunate enough to find positions as indentured servants. But when Jasper's master decides to travel to America on the Mayflower and Tom's does not, the brothers are separated. On the long, tedious, and difficult journey to the New World, and during the dangerous and tragedy-filled first months in the New World, Jasper takes comfort in writing in a journal that he plans to send back to his brother. And during that time, Jasper comes to think of Plymouth Colony as his home. I highly reccomend this addition to the My Name is America series. Ann Rinaldi has created a fictional hero and brought him to life, along with some real life people that sailed on the Mayflower. She described the New World as a young person might have really seen it.

Review: The Journal of Jasper Jonathan Pierce Our rating: J J J/3 stars out of five

The Journal of Jasper Jonathan Pierce, by Ann Rinaldi, is about a pilgrim boy who goes on the Mayflower. When he got on the Mayflower, he left his brother, Tom, behind. Tom and Jasper had different masters and Tom's master didn't want to go but Jasper's did. He writes in his journal to remember Tom. The journal he writes in is about his journey to the New World. We thought this book progressed slowly, because there was too much details. Also, we thought it was boring. But, despite all these negatives, we also liked it. We learned a lot of history.
